I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Helix Ltd, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree with the notice, discuss the issues at its talk page. Removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, but the article may still be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached, or if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria. Order of Biomes
[edit]Now, I'm no oceanographer, but judging from the Riparian zone article, it appears to me that it more properly belongs in the Terrestrial biomes category, rather than Aquatic biomes. Can you explain why you listed it there?
Also, I think it would be useful to list the various biomes in some kind of order. Of course, it's possible that you did and I just don't know enough about it to recognize the order!
I'm interested in hearing your thoughts! Thanks for creating a LOVELY template! ~ Mpwrmnt 08:09, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

Extensive editing help left at Talk:Rainham, London
[edit]In response to your question at my talk page, I have left some extensive notes on how to properly reference the article. Make the changes, renominate for GA, and it should pass. Hell, if you follow my advice, and let me know you are renominating it, I will probably pass it myself. --Jayron32|talk|contribs 22:42, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
Icelandic
[edit]You are most welcome. You have started a very useful addition to Wikipedia, although I suspect, if the page continues to grow, that it might have to be split up, say, according to word classes, syntax etc. Since you are studying the language you are of course aware of, that a "full treatment" would make a very long page indeed. I haven't proofread the page, but what is there looks very promising. In any case, someone is certain to do that and eventually some native speakers will find the time to collaborate. Regrettably, I will not be one of them for quite a while. Other obligations, as I'm sure you'll understand. But you have made a very promising start and given a layout to follow - for instance the tables. One thing I've learnt about Wikipedia is, that things may take time - more precisely the time that people have to spend, but if an article is worthwhile writing, it wil be written, although the original author may not always recognize his "child" after a while. Just out of curiosity, why did you start learning Icelandic? (Apologies, if you've already answered that elsewhere - I'm just dropping by for now. In any case keep up the good work, and don't get discouraged, if others take their time in joining in - they will, sooner or later. All the best Io 20:13, 15 April 2007 (UTC)
Re Icelandic phonology
[edit]In fact, Icelandic phonology was not merged with Icelandic alphabet. It was Icelandic orthography that was merged and it is now a redirect. Icelandic phonology should now include the information in the section "sounds" of the "Icelandic language" and much more. I decided to be WP:BOLD on this as the previous situation was in obvious contradiction with current practice in WP:Languages as orthography was one article with phonology. --Michkalas 15:54, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
- I believe it is better that Icelandic orthography not redirects to Icelandic phonology, but to the Icelandic alphabet. Alphabet/Orthography/Writing system is a pronunciation guide (with some inevitable linguistic analysis), but phonology is the technical linguistic description of a language. In that respect the current content of the article Icelandic phonology belongs to the article on alphabet. Icelandic phonology should be filled with information from Icelandic_language#Sounds. --Michkalas 16:17, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

{{Iceland-lang-stub}}
[edit]Hi - a stub template or category which you created has been nominated for deletion or renaming at Wikipedia:Stub types for deletion. The stub type, which was not proposed at Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Proposals, does not meet the standard requirements for a stub type, either through being incorrectly named, ambiguously scoped, or through failure to meet standards relating to the current stub hierarchy or likely size, as explained at Wikipedia:Stub. Please feel free to make any comments at WP:SFD regarding this stub type, and in future, please consider proposing new stub types first! Grutness...wha? 01:07, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
Bot for new articles for WP Iceland
[edit]I have come across this bot whose work is "to patrol New Articles and put relevant articles into the New Articles lists of Portals and Projects." If you can create an new feed there for the WP Iceland and maybe include it in Icelandic Wikipedians' notice board/New articles, which then will be to "new articles" page for the portal will be really nice. Check the example of Swedish Wikipedians' notice board/New articles. I have come across this, but I do not have the time. --Michkalas 12:25, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
Buses WikiProject
[edit]I notice that you have edited lists of bus routes recently. You might be interested in helping with the new WikiProject buses, especially the proposed Bus route list guide. We are also working out when a bus route should have its own article and other issues. --NE2 15:33, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
In this new format it contains much more -but useful- things. A proposal: instead of the state flag, I believe an image from a manuscript would be much more better. We can choose something from Landnámabók, Prose Edda, Icelandic Manuscript, SÁM 66, or elsewhere.--Michkalas 15:52, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
Michkalas has smiled at you! Smiles promote WikiLove and hopefully this one has made your day better. Spread the WikiLove by smiling to someone else, whether it be someone you have had disagreements with in the past or a good friend. Happy editing!
Smile at others by adding {{subst:Smile}} to their talk page with a friendly message.
- First of all, very good work at Icelandic orthography and Icelandic phonology. I believe this is the right place for these information. I am writing to write to you -well, also, to smile to you, as you can see- also for the additions you made at Template:Icelandic language. I believe the article on road signs is not relevant with the language. The article on High Icelandic has other problems. I am not sure that it is about something really notable (in fr and de wikipedias has been deleted) and, anyway, is not notable enough to include it in the template. It is like mainstreaming their cause.
- Something more. Since you are by far more able than me in computer-related things, could you also modify Template:WikiProject Iceland so as the importance of the article is also shown, like the other WikiProjects? Greetings from Ioannina, Greece, --Michkalas 20:14, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
- Done Road signs has been removed from the Icelandic language template, importance scale has been added to the WikiProject banner.

Optional question on your RFA
[edit]I asked you another question that you may not have seen, just wanted to drop you a line so you had time to respond before it closed. Re: Árni Magnússon Institute for Icelandic Studies
[edit]Well done with the merging. What do you thing of my proposals for Template:Icelandic language and Template:WikiProject Iceland (see above)? --Michkalas 16:02, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
- I’ll see what I can do about the templates when I have a minute, but they are all good suggestions. Max Naylor 16:07, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
Your question at your RfA
[edit]Good evening (GMT time); my sincerest regrets at the closing of your RfA as unsuccessful. Regarding your question (linked in blue above), it was already closed by a Bureaucrat, but it appears he's not dropped by to notify you over the closure. Anyway, I advise a review of your RfA, and begin acting on the advice right away!
Kindest regards,
Anthony 21:46, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
- That's good advice. Make a task list including tasks to address each of the objections brought up at your RfA. In your case, the main one was inexperience, and you can fix that by simply getting more involved in the Wikipedia namespace. Familiarize yourself with Wikipedia's directories, and explore and get involved in Wikipedia's various departments. Do that, and you'll be nominated by someone eventually. Just be patient and have fun exploring and working on Wikipedia in the meantime. Adminship will take care of itself when you are deemed ready by your peers. So don't worry about it. Bot for new articles on Iceland
[edit]I have created the bot and set some rules, but it probably needs some more work. The newsletter was a really nice idea. --Michkalas 12:44, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
How is it that ?
[edit]I read your anwser a while ago. But how is it that a Brit can have an interest in Icelandic, apart from Sigur Rós, of course, who don't sing in Icelandic anyway. Brits usually are more intersted in Britain than other countries --- and that is perhaps what unites us --- we're interested in other countries, but your's comes firs. Cheers Io 17:24, 5 May 2007 (UTC)
- And yet a few thousand Icelanders live in and around London and a few (hundreds or thousands?) more in the rest of the country. Cultural exchange? :-) Cheers Io 18:07, 5 May 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for the template!
[edit]BTW, is there some easy way to edit template contents? Some templates include a "e" button, but I can never figure out how to do it otherwise. Maury 14:24, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, each template has its own page on Wikipedia; to access the page of a specific template, just type Template: (including the colon) into the search box, and press Go. Then, press the edit tab at the top of the page as usual. For example, if I want to access the template you started, I would type Template:Mac OS X Graphics Model into the search box and press Go. Hope this helps! Max Naylor 15:53, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
Roadsigns on commons

- I’m not entirely sure what you’re saying, I’ve uploaded the signs to replace the current PNG versions in use with SVGs. Max Naylor 08:35, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
- Hi. I have just reverted the Template:UK motorway routebox changes as the Ax(M) motorways were broken because the file names are wrong. Could you fix them as I would prefer SVG instead of PNG. Cheers, Regan123 13:49, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, sorry about that. Uhm, I gonna have to get an admin to move the files around on the Commons so that this trick will work again. Max Naylor 15:05, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
- Hi, thanks for that, but A1 road and A3 road still aren't working. Not sure about the others. Regan123 16:01, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
- OK, let me sort it. Max Naylor 16:02, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks very much. Regan123 16:03, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
- Done: They all appear to be working now. Max Naylor 18:46, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
Axx(M) vs. Axx (M)
[edit]Hello there,
I notice you have been adding spaces between the number and the (M) bit in the routeboxes. Please note that in official legislation, and on road signs, there is no space between the number and (M). E.g. see this example, and also this one, and any number from this list. Can I suggest that these be changed back to how they were? Richard B 20:16, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
- This is only temporary whilst I’m waiting for some SVGs to be renamed. Please bear with me, it will be fixed in the next few days. Max Naylor 20:18, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
Cheers mate!

Typography articles
[edit]Thank you for creating the typographic terms template. I was wondering if you'd be interested in starting a group effort to discuss and tackle typography related articles? I'm not sure if a new wikiproject is necessary, but I've started a discussion that you are welcome to join at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Graphic design. Thanks for your consideration, and keep up the good work.-Andrew c 23:09, 8 May 2007 (UTC)
Bot
[edit]Hi, Max. I am not sure I have understood your request on User_talk:AlexNewArtBot#List_size. Do you have to many false positive or do you want the bot to archive the page more often? User:AlexNewArtBot/IcelandSearchResult does not seem to be excessive in size Alex Bakharev 10:31, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry, I’m not sure if I understand how the bot works. I want to limit the search result to the 15 newest items, for the front page of WP:ICELAND. Max Naylor 10:50, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
- I see now, you want to archive articles more often. Currently the bot apply one size-fits-all approach: it archives the articles more than seven days old. Some people complain that it is too often, you would rather do it more often and based on the number of articles not the time. I might change the code to allow some custom archiving options. Meanwhile I have applied style references to the Iceland Search results: it would decrease the font size and limit the height of the section (as in the references section of articles). I am not a CSS-designer and do not know if we can specify the height of a section explicitly. Another thing that we can do is to create separate WP:ICELAND/NEW page (like P:RUS/NEW) then the limitation on height would not be an issue. Alex Bakharev 13:07, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image (Image:WorldLingo Logo.gif)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:WorldLingo Logo.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. List of Apple Stores
[edit]The page you created, List of Apple Stores, is very similar to a page the community deleted: Wikipedia:Votes_for_deletion/List_of_Apple_retail_stores_in_the_US
A tag has been placed on List of Apple Stores, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as articles for deletion. If you can indicate how List of Apple Stores is different from the previously posted material, or if you can indicate why this article should not be deleted, I advise you to place the template {{hangon}} underneath the other template on the article, and also put a note on Talk:List of Apple Stores saying why this article should stay. An admin should check for such edits before deleting the article. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Please read our criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 4 under General criteria. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. We welcome your help in trying to improve Wikipedia, and we request you to follow these instructions. Adm58 02:21, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
- OK, thank you, I didn’t realise this. Perhaps someone should have left a discussion on the Apple Store talk page. Cheers. Max Naylor 08:39, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

Hello. I noticed you recently removed an unreferenced tag from the Mickey Mouse's name in other languages article. I believe this was unnecessary, as I think you should provide a reference for every single translation of the name, as I believe some are incorrect. Please forgive me if I am wrong. Thank you. Yours truly, BoricuaeddieTalk • Contribs • Spread the love! 18:08, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

You're doing a good job as always
[edit]I can see that you are quite the Icelander in heart. I checked out the website you'd designed (the one you said had been "taken over") and I noticed that there wasn't any DOCTYPE in it nor was there an XML encoding declaration. Now these can't be missed but never mind. If you would like, I could help you make a usersite for you on the Icelandic Wikipedia... I also checked that one out and it was kinda empty-ish. If you should need help with translating and stuff, just drop me a message at my usersite's discussion place. Cheers mate.

- Yeah, this is a problem with the SVG thumbnails that are rendered by the server, and not a fault with the image files or their naming. The Wikimedia Commons has instructions on how to purge thumbnails, although I can’t seem to get it to work. Max Naylor 13:42, 19 May 2007 (UTC)
WikiProject Peru Logo
[edit]I took the liberty and created a logo for the wikiproject Peru of which i'm also a contributing editor.
I based it on your Wikiproject Iceland Logo. Before suggesting it to the Peru Project, do you mind if i do so?
I'm not an Adobe user and I had to remove some specific adobe opacity tags before i could get it to work in firefox. That may also be aproblem with the iceland logo, because i can not see that logo on some pages also, viewing to logo on commons results in an all transparent picture. Eric Bronder 22:09, 19 May 2007 (UTC)
- I don’t mind at all. The rendering problems are due to the server, and are independent of your browser. The Commons server renders the SVG file as a PNG image at whatever size you specify, when you view an SVG file in your browser you’re not really viewing an SVG file at all. I’m kind of flattered that you want to use it, go ahead! Max Naylor 08:17, 20 May 2007 (UTC)
