List of best-selling girl groups

In Best-selling girl groups section, they count albums and single sales so Girls' Generation and 2NE1 should not be on the list. Their sales are around 5-6 million. 35 million are digital sales. sorry for my bad eng T^T — Preceding unsigned comment added by 1.4.143.197 (talk) 16:05, 6 December 2013 (UTC)

Downloads are singles. They're just a different format/medium for the same original concept: a song that is released for sale and sent to radio, usually to promote an upcoming album.
Excluding these sales would result in an outdated list that is biased against recent groups and would not take into account the fact that almost all popular musicians and groups don't sell that many albums anymore.--Mαuri’96everything and nothing always haunts me…18:58, 6 December 2013 (UTC)
I am very close to rolling it back to about 20 edits ago - the single table of sales was fine, because there is no difference between a physical or digital sale when it comes to the "best selling" total. --Sagaciousuk (talk) 13:48, 25 February 2014 (UTC)
I've been listening to what some of the people on the 'other side' of the argument think, and I'm starting to realize they may have a point when it comes to $0.03 Korean digital sales being difficult to compare to much more expensive albums or "$20 CD singles". It is also worth noting that kpop fans acknowledge this makes for unfair comparisons with older artists.
All in all, I now agree with these two netizens that making separate lists for digital and physical sales allows for more meaningful or 'valid' comparison between the sales, and ultimately success of different girl groups. --Mαuri’96everything and nothing always haunts me…07:14, 26 February 2014 (UTC)
The only reason they are cheaper over there is because the industry's way of addressing piracy was to lower the sale cost of the music. The money there is made from promotion and endorsements, rather than music sales. It's a different economy. The article is an arbitrary list of raw sales per artist, which shouldn't matter if the music was sold for 1 cent or $1000. --Sagaciousuk (talk) 12:14, 26 February 2014 (UTC)
To be fair, as you may already know, I did repeatedly try to keep everything on one list, but to no avail. I think the current arrangement is an effective compromise (at least for the time being). In fact, it's how the List of best-selling singles currently operates. --Mαuri’96everything and nothing always haunts me…03:56, 27 February 2014 (UTC)

Please stop inflating The Supremes! Your edits have been very disruptive. jd22292 (Jalen D. Folf) (talk) 00:52, 23 August 2017 (UTC)

The Supremes

Hi. It would be nice if you could participate in the discussion at Talk:List of best-selling girl groups on The Supremes sales that you added instead of just reinserting it, especially since other editors question the claimed sales. It doesn't seem appropriate either to mark this as a minor edit when the addition was previously removed by another editor after two other editors also questioned the addition on the talk page. Bennv3771 (talk) 07:30, 23 August 2017 (UTC)

Chartmasters is not a reliable website.

Thank you for your edits in artist discographies, but I have to say to you, that even though Chartmasters does a good work in term of charts and sales, it's not a reliable website. It's more like a blog, so it's not according to Wikipedia rules. I will undo the edits that you made in the Phillipines list of best sellins albums. I hope you understand...--88marcus (talk) 06:31, 26 August 2017 (UTC)

Chinese music sale

QQ Music can sell album by whole album and each track, the numbers are listed by album or song sale depend on how it is sold. It seems you misunderstand the sale of many albums (most Korean OST and Western albums) - they sell songs, not album copies. Song sale: 首. Album sale: 张, so please don't add the albums with song download sale number into the List of best-selling albums in China Kuraxmol (talk) 16:06, 7 September 2017 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited List of best-selling singles in Germany, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Alan Walker (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Tistory

Hey I've reverted some of your edits. I've mentioned it once but tistory is only a blog-publishing service and blogs are not considered reliable. Also the link you have provided us with gives only a chart with numbers/sales however it's unclear how reliable these numbers are because we don't know where the user took these numbers to create the chart. You said it contains a chart of yearly sales broken down by stores but where is the source for it? Where are the sources for the stores and its sales? Anyway if you still think the source is reliable I would like to ask you to contact an admin, request a comment about it or take it to the talk page.--Thebestwinter (talk) 17:00, 7 October 2017 (UTC)

List of best-selling Latin albums in the US

I had to revert your edit on the list because you were using the RIAA's certifications as the basis for sales when they were for units shipped to retails instead. Not only that, but the list is going through an ongoing FLC right now and I'm close to getting it promoted. Erick (talk) 13:30, 24 November 2017 (UTC)

May I know why you reverted my edit to restore the unsourced content? Also please use edit summaries to explain your edits in the future. Bennv3771 (talk) 06:15, 20 December 2017 (UTC)

I see that you've now added a source for the claimed sales. I don't speak Japanese, so could you help me by pointing out which part of the source supports the claimed sales? Thanks. Bennv3771 (talk) 06:20, 20 December 2017 (UTC)
That source is a link to the official website of the Oricon Albums Chart, Japan's national albums chart. Sales are unfortunately only visible to subscribed users.
Regardless, that particular source is widely used on discography pages such as TVXQ albums discography, Utada Hikaru discography, and perhaps most importantly, the Girls' Generation discography page itself, which is also a featured article.--Mαuri’96everything and nothing always haunts me…06:33, 20 December 2017 (UTC)
Ok, thanks. I guess we'll just have to assume good faith that whoever added that was being true to the source. Bennv3771 (talk) 06:35, 20 December 2017 (UTC)
It's the exact same number quoted in the group's discography page, which hasn't changed in a while, so I trust it's genuine. Good night.--Mαuri’96everything and nothing always haunts me…07:06, 20 December 2017 (UTC)

Reverting of change in "List of best-selling albums in South Korea"

Hi, i'm a bit confused as to why you reverted the reversion i made about the "best selling album by year" table? You were the one who originally made the entry with "The War", which someone recently changed to "Love Yourself: Her", which seemed like incorrect thing to do? Now i'm really confused what's supposed to be there.Kleool (talk) 19:28, 21 April 2018 (UTC)

I reverted it by mistake. I was editing two articles at the same time and must've gotten then mixed up. --Mαuri ’96 (talk · cont) 20:07, 21 April 2018 (UTC)

List of best-selling albums in South Korea

Good day, seems like someone has cancelled your edit about "The War" sales. As the user is identified by an IP address, means that semi-protected state had been removed from the page at that time. I hope the page could get locked again and fixed :( — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kleool (talkcontribs) 07:49, 15 January 2018 (UTC)

Partly done:: I can't lock pages, sorry. --Mαuri’96everything and nothing always haunts me…23:38, 16 January 2018 (UTC)

Hello, for the List of best-selling albums in South Korea, an user added the MADE album by BigBang with over 3 million sales. I found that quite suspicious as the page for the album shows sales far from 3 million. May you help check it out? 'cause I am not quite sure about the sales thing and I hope someone more experienced can help out. Thanks a lot! :) Xdarkdawnx (talk) 16:43, 16 January 2018 (UTC)xdarkdawnx

Done: Check the list of best-selling albums in China. Someone must've intentionally mixed the two. --Mαuri’96everything and nothing always haunts me…23:38, 16 January 2018 (UTC)

I'm sorry to bother, but i'm at a loss and don't know what to do... someone keeps changing the "All-time best-selling albums in South Korea with over 1,500,000 sales." to "1,600,000 sales", thus removing 2 entries from that table, also changing sales data for The War and Wings just so The War would have more sales (even tho they do not correspond to refs). No matter how many times i fix it, user seems to change ip and do it all over again :( Kleool (talk) 21:35, 13 February 2018 (UTC)

Done: The anon had also made similar changes on the Spanish version of the list. I reverted both, welcomed the anon on both wikis and requested protection for the English one. --Mαuri ’96 (talk · cont) 03:16, 14 February 2018 (UTC)
I really appreciate it. Thank you Kleool (talk) 04:38, 14 February 2018 (UTC)

Hi, got a question about an album sales entry. User updated ref's for 2 old albums (Best-selling albums before 2002), which i thought is really cool. But then i noticed that the album for which the citation was added was in the table 2 times at #13 and #28. Should the duplicate without the citation be removed, or better let it be? Kleool (talk) 17:11, 24 April 2018 (UTC)

Request

Hello You removed sales of Fantôme from the list of best-selling digital albums in China. May I know why? And do you possibly know how to access sales numbers for albums on QQ or Xiami? I'd be thankful if you help me on these matters. Pooriyaa (talk) 13:34, 12 May 2018 (UTC)

Re vive moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, Re vive, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Please stop to use Chartmasters.org

Hi, I noticed you used the website Chartmasters in this list which is a music site to avoid in Wikipedia. I saw a edit summary in another list of superlative since you indicated is a "highly accurate source" and the other user did a good reverted edit with an appropiate edit summary. Or perhaps I'm missing something? Please be advised I also changed the figure in one of the Floyd albums in the Italian list since source shows a lower claimed sales; I assume it was WP:SYNTH figure you used alongside the Chartmasters.org.
