Hi there
Thanks for your recent contribution. You might like to drop by Wikipedia:WikiProject Chemistry, where you can find other chemists. Happy editing! --Rifleman 82 (talk) 14:57, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
Uploading free images to Wikimedia Commons
Thank you for uploading images/media to Wikipedia! As you may know, there is another Wikimedia Foundation project called Wikimedia Commons, a central media repository for all free media. In future, please upload media there instead (see m:Help:Unified login). That way, all of the other language Wikipedias can use them too, as well as our many sister projects. This will also allow our visitors to search for, view and use our media in one central location. If you wish to move previous uploads to Commons, see Wikipedia:Moving images to the Commons (you may view previous uploads by going to your user contributions on the left and choosing the 'file' namespace from the drop down box (or see [1]). Please note that non-free content, such as images claimed as fair use, cannot be uploaded to the Wikimedia Commons. Help us spread the word about Commons by informing other users, and please continue uploading! Matthias M. (talk) 09:10, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

wikEd translation
Hi Matthias M./Archive 1, I have updated all wikEd translations to the latest version 0.9.91. Please feel free to check your translation for changes and new additions. You can find general informations on the wikEd translation project page. Cacycle (talk) 22:52, 17 April 2010 (UTC)
Use italics for titles
Also don't capitalize random words (like in "Open Source Reimplementations"). --Niemti (talk) 17:17, 17 June 2012 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free media (File:OpenRA-20120504-CnC-Shellmap.png)
Thanks for uploading File:OpenRA-20120504-CnC-Shellmap.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:12, 9 December 2012 (UTC)
wikEd translation
Hi Matthias M.,
I have updated your wikEd translation to the current version (0.9.119c). It would be great if you could find the time to translate the new additions into English. Please let me know here if you have any questions or suggestions.
Thanks in advance, Cacycle (talk) 14:03, 8 October 2013 (UTC)

Eclipse logo
Hi, Matthias. Recently you did this edit to Eclipse (software) and moved the non-free Eclipse logo to commons at File:Eclipse-Luna-Logo.svg. However, according to the licensing page:
Eclipse logos cannot be altered without Eclipse’s permission. Eclipse Foundation projects or working groups that wish to seek permission to create a derivative of the Eclipse logo may do so by sending an email to license@eclipse.org.
Therefore I am tagging the Commons image as speedy deletion and reverted your changes to Eclipse (software). See the Commons File page for more details. Timothy G. from CA (talk) 23:55, 7 July 2014 (UTC)

WP:JSTOR access
Hello, WP:The Wikipedia Library has record of you being approved for access to JSTOR through the TWL partnership described at WP:JSTOR . You should have recieved a Wikipedia email User:The Interior or User:Ocaasi sent several weeks ago with instructions for access, including a link to a form collecting information relevant to that access. Please find that email, and follow those instructions. If you were not approved, did not recieve the email, or are having some other concern or question, please respond to this message at Wikipedia talk:JSTOR/Approved. Thanks much, Sadads (talk) 21:18, 5 August 2014 (UTC) Note: You are recieving this message from an semi-automatically generated list. If you think you were incorrectly contacted, make sure to note that at Wikipedia talk:JSTOR/Approved.
Speedy deletion declined: Luftfahrtforschungsansalt
Hello Matthias M.. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Luftfahrtforschungsansalt, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: redirects from mis-spellings are cheap and can be useful - this gets quite a few hits, and those people are taken to the correct page. Thank you. JohnCD (talk) 10:28, 21 November 2014 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for December 13
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Jedi (game engine), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Mac. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 06:10, 13 December 2020 (UTC)
March 2023
Hello. Your recent edit to List of free multiplayer online games appears to have added the name of a non-notable entity to a list that normally includes only notable entries. In general, a person, organization or product added to a list should have a pre-existing article before being added to most lists. If you wish to create such an article, please first confirm that the subject qualifies for a separate, stand-alone article according to Wikipedia's notability guideline. Thank you. Woodroar (talk) 14:39, 25 March 2023 (UTC)
OpenHV
Hello, Matthias M.. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page OpenHV, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam#External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Woodroar (talk) 19:50, 7 April 2023 (UTC)

- You told me to WP:Write the article first and now this. It is hard to assume good faith in your actions. Matthias M. (talk) 13:05, 8 April 2023 (UTC)
- Yes, I did write that, but both the "March 2023" comment I left above and WP:WTAF adds a caveat that the subject needs to meet our notability requirements first. I wasn't aware that the game doesn't meet those requirements. I also wasn't aware that you were involved with creating the game and shouldn't have created the article in the first place. Now please don't take this as me blaming you. Many editors don't know about WP:GAMESOURCES unless they frequently edit video game articles. And many editors don't know about WP:COI unless (or until) they violate it. I hope the notifications above have helped explain our policies and guidelines, and why we do the things we do. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Cheers! Woodroar (talk) 15:08, 8 April 2023 (UTC)
- Oh, and for what it's worth, thank you for your edits to List of free multiplayer online games. You've added a ton of games! I do have to ask about Lugaru, though. The game doesn't appear to be free or multiplayer, at least according to the article (and the last time I played it). They source is now open, yes, but someone would still need to get it running, add multiplayer, publish it, and get coverage in reliable sources—unless I'm missing something? Woodroar (talk) 15:58, 8 April 2023 (UTC)
- See Lugaru#History, the whole game was open sourced gradually including game art, so it is free, but you are right, it has no multiplayer. Matthias M. (talk) 16:29, 8 April 2023 (UTC)

Your email
I received your email, but I'm replying here for transparency and for my own privacy. I don't know who you are, or if your username is a real name or a pseudonym. I do know that you created the article on OpenHV and added links to OpenHV's other sites, and that by following those links I noticed multiple usernames that are very similar to yours. It's inconceivable that this is a coincidence. You're certainly welcome to remove this (or most messages) from your Talk page, per WP:BLANKING. I won't be removing messages about your conflict of interest from other pages. Woodroar (talk) 17:30, 8 April 2023 (UTC)
- So, you value your privacy and try to violate mine by making unclaimed accusations? Seems a bit unfair. I never wrote an advertisement. I simply cited sources of critics like we do in Wikipedia. This is a hobby of mine. I write about video games mostly on German Wikipedia. Because I felt the game had a majority of English-speaking sources, this would be the right place. Guess I was wrong.
