RIP CD
Thank you Colin Dexter for the gift of Morse. I enjoyed reading each of your books. Without them we would not have had the platform for John Thaw's wonderful performance. It was always fun to keep an eye peeled for your cameos. My favorite is actually your first one. As you stride up the covered walkway you pass Morse and Thaw turns around to look at you. I can hear the gears in his mind saying "Wha-a-at" in that delightful Morse tone. I don't know if any of my talk page watchers ever got to work one of your crossword puzzles but I hop they did. Children's films
I'm not sure what Wiki-Ikiw 2 was thinking, but I was too quick to jump in and fix the grammar error (moving children and family film to children's and family film). Luckily, Betty Logan seems to have restored things. Trivialist (talk) 00:23, 24 March 2017 (UTC)

"Nader El-Bizri" Wikipedia - tags restored by MarnetteD?
Dear MarnetteD you seem to have restored the tags of Edward321 regarding the entry "Nader El-Bizri", please look into these more closely and if possible consult with other editors in order that the article is improved. I tried to introduce some amendments but a professional editor like you would manage to refine the entry more. Thanks 2A02:C7D:36C6:8300:3DE7:5B4A:4EE8:E3CB (talk) 10:46, 24 March 2017 (UTC)

Once Upon a time in America
The summary guide cannot be strictly applied to this movie, because it is so long and the details have to be introduced in order to understand Noodles´ relationship with Deborah and the importance to understand that this movie even goes on while the credits roll.Arderich (talk) 20:44, 25 March 2017 (UTC)

Michael Dorn in SuperMansion
Michael Dorn was in SuperMansion Season 2, Episode 6 (Blazarmageddon). His name was in ending credits under Special Guest and I recognized his voice right away, he was Asteros. You should've watched the episode instead of blindly reverting my edit that was 100% accurate. Click here to see the episode, and listen for his voice and read the ending credits and you'll know I was right. Please add it back, he was there. annonymous. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:645:8200:B32F:1085:D230:D247:EA66 (talk) 07:09, 27 March 2017 (UTC)
- You need to provide a reference with your edits per WP:BURDEN. MarnetteD|Talk 14:29, 27 March 2017 (UTC)
- His name is in the ending credits, that should be enough proof. Did you even see the episode? I not, please click the link I provided. I hope you re-add the edit soon, because he was in the show. I don't want to argue with you, I'm just trying to help. P.S. If Michael Dorn has a twitter account, could you please contact him? I'm sure he'll tell you if he was Asteros or not. I'm sure he'll confirm it if you contact him on twitter. annonymous. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:645:8200:B32F:1085:D230:D247:EA66 (talk) 23:01, 27 March 2017 (UTC)

Austin Carlile
Is there any chance that you can semi-protect the Wikipedia page Austin Carlile so there is no more vandalism? If so then please do so, thank you. NellyOriginPMOD (talk) 15:02, 27 March 2017 (UTC)
- Hello NellyOriginPMOD. I am not an admin so I can't restore the protection. Please file a report at WP:RFPP to get a new protection for the article. I know how frustrating this situation can be. WikiP likes to protect articles for as short a time as possible but ongoing problems can lead to longer and longer protections. Best regards. MarnetteD|Talk 15:05, 27 March 2017 (UTC)
- Hello again . I only just took a look at the article and I have to tell you that this edit is a mistake on your part. First, placing the template there does not protect the page. Only an admin can do that. Second, that edit can be seen as you WP:OWNING the article. As I mentioned please file a report at WP:RFPP when dealing with repeat vandalism. The article has been protected before and admins will take that into account when assessing your report. MarnetteD|Talk 17:43, 27 March 2017 (UTC)

Manual removal of deleted templates?
Are you manually removing those football awards templates? If I'm not mistaken, I think either a bot will come around and take care of them, or someone using AWB will do it automatically. Lizard (talk) 22:30, 24 April 2017 (UTC)
- I get some of them Lizard the Wizard. As a wikignome I like working on them until the bot comes along. It also leads to finding other cleanup and/or tagging that various articles need. For instance in today's editing I have found a few articles with little to know sourcing. One other thing when I started this a few weeks ago there were some templates that sat there for two weeks with nothing happening. Maybe the bot was down at the time. Cheers. MarnetteD|Talk 22:43, 24 April 2017 (UTC)
- Indeed. It only came to my attention because many of those pages are on my watchlist. And so, I'm well aware that there's a lot of cleanup to be done on many of them. Unfortunately the football project is at a shortage of editors willing to do that cleanup. Lizard (talk) 22:46, 24 April 2017 (UTC)
- I know what you mean Lizard the Wizard. A decade or so ago projects were booming but only a few are still active and even those have fewer participants. Best regards. MarnetteD|Talk 22:51, 24 April 2017 (UTC)

It appears that you have vandalized this page. However, I am going to give you a warning. If this happens again, I will have no choice but to report you. RugratsFan2003talk 01:19, 30 April 2017 (UTC)
- @RugratsFan2003: Please read our assume good faith guideline. While I don't see why the article is being turned into a redirect, it better to use talk pages to communicate rather than edit summaries. --NeilN talk to me 00:35, 30 April 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks for your post NeilN. This is not the first time that RF2003 has accused another editor of vandalism. As I go through their edits I can't find sourcing for them - though I may have missed one. I have done what I should have and started the talk page thread. Thanks again for explaining things. MarnetteD|Talk 00:56, 30 April 2017 (UTC)
Thanks
Thanks for adding the template. I am sure you mentioned this to me before but as I implied in my edit summary, I was too lazy to go look for it. (Since it was only an edit on my own talk page, I thought I could slide if I noted it; I think I would have been more energetic if I needed it for another talk page and surely for an article). In any event, nice to hear from you and thank you. Your comments and advice are always timely and well appreciated. Donner60 (talk) 03:47, 30 April 2017 (UTC)
- You are welcome Donner60. There is so much to remember around here. I know there are things that I used to know but have forgotten with the passage of time. Then they do an upgrade and the ones I do know get changed :-) Fortunately, there are lots of knowledgeable editors out there to help us along. Cheers. MarnetteD|Talk 04:34, 30 April 2017 (UTC)
- I see that about a month ago you had comments by an intemperate user similar to what has now occurred in the section in which you left your help. The user who left the original comment has come back with intemperate and uncivil remarks and has obviously not read the guideline pages I cited. I don't think I am wrong about my revert and comments. If you have time, I would appreciate you taking a look at his edits, my message on his talk page and his justification and give a fresh evaluation. I also think my further response is appropriate and civil so I think that is not a problem either. However, please don't take a long time with it or waste time that you might better put elsewhere or even get into something that might turn out to be difficult or upsetting. The vehemence of the user (calling me a racist among other things in his later comment) is off-putting and certainly does not encourage me to re-evaluate my opinion. But if I am wrong, or even might be wrong, I can back down, or just ignore any further edits the user might make. I'll be offline for awhile now but I should be back within the next 24 hours. Thanks. And again, don't feel obligated to review this if you don't have time or think it might get too sticky. Of course, I do not want you to get involved but just to give me an opinion. Donner60 (talk) 06:00, 30 April 2017 (UTC)
- Hello again Donner60 it has been a slow lazy Sunday so I only just had a chance to look at things. Definitely a SPA account who is using WP:BATTLEGROUND tactics. The PA's are disgusting. and I am soorry you have had to put up with them. They also do not understand the difference between WP:PRIMARY and WP:SECONDARY sourcing. Hopefully they will stopbut if things pick back up with relation to the topic you could start a thread at the talk page for the article and then post a link to it at the Wikipedia:WikiProject Military history to get more input. If the PA's continue you might take it to AN/I. I know that is always fraught with unwanted drama but you certainly do not deserve any of that tripe. Have a nice week in spite of this. MarnetteD|Talk 19:35, 30 April 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks. Helpful comments and good advice as usual. The user left another uncivil message but has not edited the article again. I added a comment about the message and thread but also sent it to my Archive 15 early. No sense in carrying on with this guy but I hope nothing more will come of it. The comment was meant to sum up the situation and note that there was no sense in carrying on the thread, not necessarily as a direct reply. I hope this ends it but I will take it to the Military History project if I see that he returns with such edits. I try to stay off the drama boards. I have been there only twice when vandals or pov editors, I don't remember which, reported my reverts or added me to reports including others. In both cases the reports boomeranged on the reporters. And a nice week to you as well! Donner60 (talk) 23:43, 30 April 2017 (UTC)

User with intent to be disruptive?
I have to admit, based on some of the recent discussion at Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style/Film I was considering (not necessarily strongly) opening an ANI filing. While no serious disruption may have occurred yet, based on the user's own words getting their own way is a higher priority than working with others. I don't think I've ever seen an ANI case be opened preemptively, but if there was going to be such a thing, this user's given plenty of quotes that could be used to establish their intentions. Hopefully they'll take the advice of pretty much everyone else and stand down. DonIago (talk) 15:18, 10 May 2017 (UTC)
- Hi D. I can't tell if there has been an uptick in this kind of behavior recently or not. After 12 years some things seem to blur together :-) In this specific case if this is a one time "stamp my feet" situation I don't know if ANI would do any good. OTOH if it becomes a reoccurring pattern then it is probably the only way to deal with it. You know "wikiquette" has been gone a long time but I think it was a viable alternative for things like this. In my post I almost left a link to this Wikipedia:No, you can't have a pony but they probably don't have a sense of humor. Cheers. MarnetteD|Talk 16:58, 10 May 2017 (UTC)
- Yeah...like I said, hoping they'll stand down, but so far they seem to be running with a full head of steam...not sure they've posted today, though? Probably a good thing. I have a feeling if they weren't willing to look at drop the stick, then pony-talk wouldn't be of any more interest to them, unfortunately. Happy editing! DonIago (talk) 19:44, 10 May 2017 (UTC)

Someone's changed Baker's place of birth from Lancashire to Merseyside, but Merseyside did not exist until 1974. I'm not in a mood for a long battle with this person so can you revert it and put a hatnote that before 1974, Liverpool was in Lancashire not Merseyside? It helps to explain things to editors now and in the future. These happen more than one might think. One of my favorite "timey-wimey" changes is for Bette Midler since Hawaii wasn't yet a state when she was born. On another note I still think Tom's DAB should be (Time Lord) :-) Just kidding. - HeeHee. I don't know if I've mentioned it to you before Redrose64 I went to the same elementary, junior high and high school that Trey attended. Now I'm more than a decade older but he does have so many things right including the cold when you are up in the mountains. Drmargi the one thing missing from your new sig is a link to your talk page. Thanks to you both for stopping by :-) MarnetteD|Talk 00:22, 19 May 2017 (UTC)
- Gosh, that's quite a coincidence! I can lay claim to a couple Giambis at my HS. Not quite as thrilling. And thanks for the heads up on the talk page. Fixed. I swiped an icon from AussieLegend! Bless his upside down heart. ----Dr.Margi ✉ 05:35, 19 May 2017 (UTC)
Removed link (Orion)
Hey, Marnette - I just spend hours figuring out how to add a page & disambiguation for a Celtic band I've followed for years - Orion. I managed to add the link to the disambiguation page ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orion ) and eventually create a new article for it ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orion_(Celtic_band) ) to find you've removed the link from the disambiguation page?! Your comment was "remember dab pages are not list articles" - and I have no idea what you mean. Was I supposed to create the article first, then create the disambiguation? This is proving VERY frustrating :( Thanks --Tiggr Down Under (talk) 05:23, 23 May 2017 (UTC)
- There is no article for the group. In my edit summary I also linked to WP:MOSDAB you should try reading it - it may not ease your frustrations but it will tell you why your edits merit removal. WP:GNG is also applicable MarnetteD|Talk 15:22, 23 May 2017 (UTC)
Film AfD
Hi MarnetteD. Hope you're well. I'd appreciate your thoughts/comments on this AfD notice I posted at WT:FILM. It's not had much input. Thanks. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 07:27, 23 May 2017 (UTC)
- I'm hanging in there Lugnuts. I posted at the AFD rather than the project page. Possible IP sock has been tagged as well. Cheers. MarnetteD|Talk 15:33, 23 May 2017 (UTC)

handout for students editing film articles
Hi there,
I'm hoping to solicit your feedback regarding a handout Wiki Ed is developing for students who want to work on articles about films: User:Ryan (Wiki Ed)/Films. It will be a print guide that supplements other resources and materials for student editors, like the interactive training and brochures that address broader aspects of editing, like etiquette, NPOV, citing sources, working in sandboxes, using the talk page, etc. This guide focuses only on aspects of editing required for contributing to articles about films assigned in classroom settings. We're hoping to get some feedback from the community by Monday, so we can send it off to the printer before the end of the month. I realize that's not a lot of time so no worries if you don't get to it. Thanks. --Ryan (Wiki Ed) (talk) 17:03, 26 May 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks for the notice Ryan (Wiki Ed). Unfortunately, you picked a holiday weekend here in the US. I will be in and out until Tuesday. If I have time - I will try and add to the conversation. MarnetteD|Talk 17:10, 26 May 2017 (UTC)
- Good point. Wait, so, for some people, a holiday weekend doesn't mean more Wikipedia? What's that life/Wiki balance like? :) If you get to it sometime before the end of Monday, then great. Otherwise, no worries. I'll also mention, since you're listed here, that there's another draft that you may want to check out in addition to/instead of the films draft: User:Ryan (Wiki Ed)/Books. Enjoy your weekend. --Ryan (Wiki Ed) (talk) 17:18, 26 May 2017 (UTC)
- Holidays away from the computer - what is the world coming to - heehee. I hope that you have a pleasant weekend as well Ryan. MarnetteD|Talk 17:46, 26 May 2017 (UTC)

Possibly disruptive editor on Swahili language
Hi there, I notice that you've also reverted this IP-hopper who seems to spend a lot of time removing stuff. I'm talking about IPv6 range 2605:6000:EF43:8500::/64
. I'm quite familiar with WP:UNSOURCED, which he's giving as a reason for removal, but I feel he's using it rather indiscriminately to basically just cull content for the sake of culling it, or possibly as an excuse to be deliberately disruptive. It's troublesome to actually pull the data together, and the IP hopping may well be automatic (due to a horrible combination of a feature of IPv6 and the bad handling / design of it in MediaWiki), but I believe he's running up quite a few warnings for unexplained deletion and general disruptive behaviour but avoiding the consequences. I'm concerned that there's a WP:SCRUTINY issue here and am considering an AN/I case for it. What do you think? Murph9000 (talk) 06:07, 27 May 2017 (UTC)
- Hello Murph9000 and thanks for your message. You are correct in all the items that you mention. I am not sure that the problems rise to AN/I level yet. Before that I would suggest that you might add your concerns to the post I made on the talk page for the article. Then, if they continue their disruptive editing we can do another WP:RFPP (and/or mention this to MelanieN since she helped deal with the problem last time) and ask for a longer period of time for the protection. If the WP:POINTy removals continue after that I think an AN/I would be appropriate. As I say these are just suggestions on my part and you should proceed as you see fit. I really appreciate your efforts in dealing with this and I hope you have a pleasant weekend. MarnetteD|Talk 16:19, 27 May 2017 (UTC)
- Well, I'm motivated enough that I've been writing a new client-side version of Special:Contributions to enable me to properly view his contribs across the many IPs being used (the old range contribs tool wasn't doing it for me, and was quite out of date in terms of coding and API usage). It's coming along quite nicely, so I'm not far off being able to get a proper view of just how far and wide he's been culling content (and get a more complete picture of warnings and blocks given to the various IPs). I should have it reasonably complete for a rough and early version in the next day or so. The POINTy removal of content has been going on for at least 6 months, as far as I can see, across many articles. I'll judge whether it's a talk or ANI case once I can clearly see the full scale of it. Re-implementing bits of MediaWiki in JavaScript is interesting. Thanks, and you have a good weekend as well. Murph9000 (talk) 20:00, 27 May 2017 (UTC)
- Yowza Murph9000. I had know idea that the problem was this large. Please note that I was only aware of the recent activity at the SL article so my suggestions were about that one situation. Kudos to you for all your work in tracking down the larger area of disruptive edits. Your efforts are very much appreciated. Cheers. MarnetteD|Talk 20:05, 27 May 2017 (UTC)
- Yup, that's my fear, that the constant IP hopping has masked a bigger problem for a while. Maybe I'll be wrong about it (this is a case where I'd be happy to be wrong), but stumbling across it on the SL article uncovered a possible wider pattern. Have a look at how much the Swahili article has changed since January. Now, quite possibly some of that actually should have been culled, but it's the slow death by a thousand cuts that concerns me. If the removals had all happened in a short timescale, and been easy to tie together, it would have certainly been worthy of a much deeper discussion before accepting the large change. There's no shame in not spotting it, and I'm not even certain about it so far, just have seen enough to be concerned. The slow stuff over a long period of time is difficult to see. SL was 52,436 bytes in December / January (and had been around the 50,000+ size for a long time before then), and is down to 36,926 bytes today (or 34,801 bytes, if the latest cut is allowed). Thanks for your help with the troll
Was actually quite amused reading what the troll posted on AN/I, and the responses. Apparently, I'd been threatening him with an axe? The curt answers ("is the blade covered in a sock?" "if you're threatened, go to the police. I'm not sure socks have a life to threaten, though") were equally amusing. This troll is one extremely devoted pest. I wouldn't mind if he vanished from Wikipedia and the internet for good, or was subjected to Damnatio memoriae for that matter, though I have not quite resorted to threatening to use axes. He claims (truthfully or not, I do not know) to have gotten in trouble with his ISP for hate speech, so here's hoping that pest gets nuked at some point. Eliyohub (talk) 19:46, 27 May 2017 (UTC)

- What were you accused of saying to him? Also threatening an axe-butchering? Or something else? Eliyohub (talk) 21:01, 27 May 2017 (UTC)
- It was something else but my memory banks are getting dustier with each passing day Eliyohub so I don't remember the specifics - apologies. The "this editor is sending me dozens of threatening emails" is the same. There was one that mentioned pics of Hitler and Stalin on a pig's body but that might have been when they were accusing Baseball Bugs or someone else. Errant nonsense but still not fun to put up with. — Preceding unsigned comment added by MarnetteD (talk • contribs) 21:11, 27 May 2017 (UTC)
