"New Message" for a change I didn't make
Hello,
I received a message from you (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:151.49.234.25&redirect=no) thanking me for an edit in the page Teramo which I never made in the first place? Not sure what this is about since I don't even have an account here on Wikipedia... Was just browsing a page about Ireland and got this message thanking me for that edit lol.
Thanks,
Samuel — Preceding unsigned comment added by 151.49.234.25 (talk) 19:05, 26 December 2014 (UTC)

Hi Marek
Hi Marek, it's Theologiae here (long time no see)...
I just wanted to say that I forgot my password to my old account and as such I am starting a new account under the user name "Historici".
I read on the Wikipedia manual that this is legitimate as long as you make it aware on your page your previous identity and discontinue using the former account, as well as notify a Wiki administrator.
If there is a problem with me doing this, please notify me telling me what do.
Hope all is well!
I will be putting on my userpage a link to my old page (so people know I am Theologiae) and furthermore I will make my autograph say "Theologiae" so any editors will know it's me who they are talking to.

About your (non)participation in the January 2012 SOPA vote
Hi Marek69. I am Piotr Konieczny (User:Piotrus), you may know me as an active content creator (see my userpage), but I am also a professional researcher of Wikipedia. Recently I published a paper (downloadable here) on reasons editors participated in Wikipedia's biggest vote to date (January 2012 WP:SOPA). I am now developing a supplementary paper, which analyzes why many editors did not take part in that vote. Which is where you come in :) You are a highly active Wikipedian (93rd), and you were active back during the January 2012 discussion/voting for the SOPA, yet you did not chose to participate in said vote. I'd appreciate it if you could tell me why was that so? For your convenience, I prepared a short survey at meta, which should not take more than a minute of your time. I would dearly appreciate you taking this minute; not only as a Wikipedia researcher but as a fellow content creator and concerned member of the community (I believe your answers may help us eventually improve our policies and thus, the project's governance). PS. If you chose to reply here (on your userpage), please WP:ECHO me. Thank you! --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 01:10, 13 February 2015 (UTC)

Convert
I noticed this edit at Dall Island and a similar edit at Curieuse Island. I don't know how much of that was due to AWB, but FYI it is not necessary to remove commas from the input number passed to {{convert}}. Also, if "meters" is wanted, it is necessary to use |sp=us
:
{{convert|2,443|ft|m|abbr=off|sp=us}}
→ 2,443 feet (745 meters)
Another issue is that "{{convert|252.02|mi²|2|abbr=out}}
" won't work because
mi²
is not a valid unit code. I fixed that by using sqmi
(mi2
is an alternative equivalent, but it is more natural to use "sqmi" to produce "square mile" or "sq mi"). This is just FYI; nothing needed. Johnuniq (talk) 10:14, 22 February 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Johnuniq, thank you very much for taking the time out to explain this to me. I do have a script within AWB which is supposed to add the Convert template and fill in automatically, but it is far from perfect and I end up having to correct it manually. Unfortunately the person who wrote it is no longer active on Wikipedia, and I'm not a coder.
- Thank you for this information and for correcting my mistakes :-)
- Kind Regards -- Marek.69 talk 12:09, 22 February 2015 (UTC)

Cocaine
The wiki page for Cocaine needs editing. Theres a chart under Medical Effects rating dependence of various substances. This chart is completely inaccurate. It shows dependence for cannabis being higher than ecstasy. Ecstasy barely rates. I have meth countless people dependandant to ecstasy, not one to cannabis. And cocaine rates higher than anything except heroin even tho higher up on the same page, "physical dependance: none." Nothing to do with personal opinion, the page snitches on itself for being a liar.

Dash stuff
Sorry about that, I meant the other gnomish edit on Ashford, Kent! I personally don't have a preference either way for "xx-acre" or "xx acre" so reverting any change of that ilk is silly. It was the other one that seemed to imply an OS map has a page, when it doesn't! Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 13:21, 31 March 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Ritchie, long time no see. :-) No problem, it seems someone amended the rules on this on Wikipedia's Regex typo list, so AWB now picks it up as a typo. The other edit wasn't mine anyway.
- Not a problem. I've always been a bit uncomfortable myself about things like AWB as they're a bit like a circular saw - great for sawing wood, but if you don't know what you're doing you could end up like Tony Iommi and have to play guitar with bits of washing up liquid bottles superglued on your fingers. Was that the meetup I went to with Rhonda and we topic swerved a conversation about WikiData onto Eric Corbett? ;-D Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 13:43, 31 March 2015 (UTC)
- That's right, and as I remember you left early to play a gig somewhere in Shoreditch. :-) Marek.69 talk 13:47, 31 March 2015 (UTC)

Help
I need advice with some past edits on this article, about a controversial topic (per WP:CONT) on an article on which certain users remove what they consider "overlinking" (to actual books in this case) and "too many quotes" (which are necessary for the article and cannot be replaced with text) when it's not warranted, and in fact removes the whole point of the article itself.
The user in question so far has failed to provide any valid reasons (aside from "style") for their edits. Please let me know how to deal with this situation on the talk page. --92slim (talk) 16:02, 31 March 2015 (UTC)
