Calorx Education & Research Foundation, alias ‘CALORX’ is one of the leading educational institutions in India, known for accelerating revolutionary transformation in the subcontinent’s educational system. The name ‘CALORX’ reflects the set of the core values the foundation believes & promotes – Collaboration (We Excel Together), Academic Excellence (Relentless Repeatability), Living in the Gap (Continuous Learning Mode), Ownership (My Calorx, Organization First), Raison d’être – Humanistic Approach (Creating Indian Assets, Global Citizens) and X Factor – Speed with Accuracy (Simple Ideas, Superb Implementation).
As a small step towards bringing changes in the way Indian educational system works, a group of scholars from Ahmedabad set up Calorx Foundation in 1995 with an aim to make inclusive and quality education accessible to the children of Gujarat and empower the education sector with new-age teaching methodologies. To begin with the foundation set up a school called Delhi Public School, Bopal, with a student base of 450 and today it has emerged as one of the leading and professionally managed autonomous institution focusing its activities on K-21 education from pre-school to university. Creating new benchmarks in the field of education, Calorx Education & Research Foundation has grown leaps and bounds over the span of 20 years. From a Pre School to a Teachers’ University, the journey has been long but accomplishing. Today, Calorx runs 40+ educational institutions in the country delivering world-class education and has forayed into International market with the same endeavor of providing quality education overseas. These educational institutions address the education needs of a cross-section of the society, right from pre-schools to primary, secondary and higher secondary (K-12) education institutions, an IB world school, preparation for competitive examination ; from special education initiatives for underprivileged students and dyslexic children, to a pioneering teachers’ training university.
After almost two decades of raising the bar in the field of education in the country, Calorx has successfully integrated quality education with a robust IT and sports infrastructure as well as innovative learning tools to foster a state-of-the-art, creative environment for its students . The well-qualified & experienced teachers at every single Calorx institution strive to inculcate ‘Lateral Thinking’ and ‘Creative Expressionism’ in their students, as a result of which, students have been winning laurels in academics, sports, arts and extracurricular activities at national and international levels.
The very first school set up by Calorx in 1996 - Delhi Public School, Bopal is now recognized as one of the most sought after and respected schools in the state of Gujarat. Backed by innovative teaching techniques and world class infrastructure amenities; the school currently educates more than 5500 students in its 13 acre campus. Recently, DPS- Bopal, Ahmedabad was also awarded the national award in IT excellence. On lines of DPS-Bopal, Ahmedabad, Calorx has set up many more schools across the western and central belt of India. They are- DPS-East Ahmedabad and Calorx Public School – Mundra (2008), Calorx Public School- Rajula (2010), Calorx Public School-Ghatlodia (2011), Narmada Calorx Public School- Bharuch (2012),Calorx Public School – Godhra(2013), Calorx Public School, Jaipur, Rajasthan(2014), Calorx Public School – Bhavnagar(2014), Calorx Public School – Bopal, Ahmedabad(2014), Calorx Public School –Gandhinagar(2014), Vidya Bhavan Public School – Indore, Madhya Pradesh(2014), Calorx Olive International School, Ahmedabad(2014), Calorx Champion School(2014) & Calorx Public School, Sanathal (2015).
As a part of its efforts to fulfill social responsibility, Calorx launched CSR initiatives like Visamo Kids Foundation in 2002, a transformational institution for underprivileged children, where they are providing food, shelter and education. Yet another noteworthy effort by Calorx is the establishment of Prerna in 2001, to help dyslexic students nurture their talents and cater to the special learning needs of dyslexic geniuses.
In due course, Calorx spread its wings across several educational verticals like the Calorx Pre-School for toddlers in 2009. The Calorx Teachers’ University, also established in 2009, aims at training quality teachers with a mission of developing a skilled talent pool of “Teachers by Choice”.
Vocational Educational Development Institute of Calorx – VEDIC (2010) has been set-up to provide free education to 8th Std dropouts of Municipal Schools with contemporary and relevant skill development programmes to improve employability.
Yali is the mascot of the Calorx Group. Yali is a mythical lion, and it has been widely used in South Indian sculpture. Description and references to Yali's is very old, but its deception in the South Indian sculpture became prominent from the 16th century. Yali's are believed to be more powerful than the lion or the elephant and it is believed to be quick and flexible like a snake, smart and sharp like a cat, friendly and intelligent like an elephant and confident and independent like a lion. So in a symbolic way, Yali reflects the exceptional and outstanding quality of the foundation as an educational institution.
Calorx was founded on core values of collaboration, revolutionary learning practices, implementing innovative ideas and using a humanistic approach to enhance the learning process across categories towards creating Indian assets and Global citizens. All their effort will continue to be guided by these founding principles.
Ms. Manjula Pooja Shroff, the visionary pillar and flag bearer of the group has several awards to her credit which include the prestigious ‘Secular India Award’, conferred by the President of India, Shri Shankar Dayal Sharma and ‘Woman of the Year Award’ from the American Bibliography Society, North Carolina.
