Cricket

[edit]

Thanks for starting articles on Gaekwad and SS Das. As can be seen from List of Indian Test Cricketers, less than one-fifth of the Indian cricketers have pages about them. Creating even a stub for the missing ones would be most helpful. Tintin 21:35, 6 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Templates

What is the purpose of Template:സ്വാഗതം and Template:വിഷയ സൂചിക? They've been nominated for deletion because they're not in English, and since few people here can read Malayalam I was hoping you could explain what they meant. J.K. 14:38, 3 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Nasrani confusion

[edit]

I've found you using the Babel templates, perhaps you can help: There seems to be some confusion, what the term Nasrani actually means, see the history [1] of the current redirect. Also there are way to many redirects and not all consistent: [2]. Can you please clarify? --Pjacobi 14:09, 19 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. When do you need the permission by? The Board currently has no policy on logo use, but we're working on forming some committees which would have the authority to make this sort of decision, so if you can wait a couple of weeks, we're more likely to be able to give you an answer on this. [edit]

Manjith, I hope you don't mind me simplifying that link to your Malayalam contributions, assuming I did it right. To do a visible interwiki like the one I did on your user page, simply add colon to the front of the link. So, writing [[:commons:|Commons Main Page]] will create this link: Commons Main Page. You can create links to any page in any wiki in this fashion. Thus, adding ml in the front allows you to quickly link to Malayalam wiki articles. =) -- Ricky81682 (talk) 10:20, 22 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Lets bring all Kerala Wikipedians under one list

[edit]

Hello! I've created a template Template:User KERALA wiki as well as a category, Category:Kerala_Wikipedians in an effort to bring together all the Kerala Wikipedians. I believe there are no such existing categories. So, please add either the template (which will automatically add the category) or the category to your userpage. Malayalam on FireFox

[edit]
File:Malluwiki.jpg
Screeshot of ml.wiki on my Firefox

Hello Manjithkaini! I usually use Firefox to edit on wikipedia. After I received your invitation to jin the Malayalam wikipedia, I went over to http://ml.wikipedia.org. However, I was really dissapointed, because the formatting was horrible and there were countless spelling mistakes. Moreover, whatever I typed, something else will come. Only later did I realise that it was actually that malayalam was not rendering properly on firefox. On IE, the malu wikipedia appears elegantly (except on the title bar). In firefox, all the kootaksharams appear as two different alphabets. Plus, all the spellings are wrong. Kochi will appear as karochi (the 'ka' goes out of the thingies in which it is placed so as to make it sound as 'ko', and you get karochi as the result). I've checked and confirmed that both the browsers are using Unicode UTF-8.
Have you tried viewing the malu wikipedia on Firefox or any other browser? If not, please do.... thunderboltza.k.a.Deepu_Joseph |TALK

Hello again! Thanks for contacting Peringz on my behalf. I have followed the instructions he gave, however I still am not able to view the malayalam properly on Firefox. Notice how "pradhana page" is written, and also the | sign after most of the words :( thunderboltza.k.a.Deepu_Joseph |TALK

Malayalam toponyms

[edit]

Hi, if you get a chance could you check the Malayalam forms of Minicoy Island, Kavaratti, Travancore, and Kochi, India. Is പെരുമ്പടപ really an alternate name for Kochi? Also can you look at the Lakshadweep page and scroll down and check: Laccadive, Minicoy, and Amindivi Islands (ലക്ഷദ്വീപ്, മിനിക്കോയ്, അമന്തീവ)

Thanks! AjaxSmack 06:01, 21 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent edit to Mathrubhumi was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to recognize and repair vandalism to Wikipedia articles. If the bot reverted a legitimate edit, please accept our apologies – if you bring it to the attention of the bot's owner, we may be able to improve its behavior. Its best to tag all big copyvio's with the copyvio tag, mostly because the bot is stupid otherwise and can't see it. Sorry about that, I've rolled back to your version -- Tawker 14:04, 14 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Tawkerbot2

[edit]

The issue with the bot is that one of the common types of vandalism is the random removal of large sections of articles. The vast majority of the time when a large section is removed from an article it is because of vandalism. The problem is that there are a small number of cases like yours where there is a legitimate reason for the removal. But there is no easy way for the bot to tell the difference. So we get these false positives on occasion.

For you, if you get hit by the bot like this, just revert the bot. The bot is specifically coded not to edit war, and will not revert you a second time. Delete the false positive warning message, and move on. - TexasAndroid 15:46, 14 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Contribs in Mal

[edit]

Sorry for the delay in replying, Manjithkaini. The unicode font that I'm using is matweb. I created the text using varamozhi editor, and exported it to unicode. I was never good at spellings. The problem was that I gave up Malayalam for Hindi, and later Hindi for French. I'm paka fluent in Malayalm, and I can read it fine too. But then I make allara-chillara spelling mistakes often (I wish there was a spelling checker in Malayalam). I'll try my best not to make any mistakes.
Also, while I'm here, may I request you take a look at Image:Kerala-girl-left.jpg and the discussion at Talk:South India#Image of the saree clad woman and give your inputs? We are confused whether it is actually a saree or not.
Thanks again for the encouraging note! -- thunderboltza.k.a.Deepu_Joseph |TALK 06:51, 6 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This is a message to all Category:Kerala Wikipedians

I want your opinion on this particular person Pradip Somasundaran. He claims to be a famous singer in Kerala. Now being a Malayalee, I have not heard of this person before, so I wonder whether or not you have heard of him before and set this issue straight. If so, then please let your opinion be counted at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Pradip Somasundaran. Please note that by voicing your opinion as a Malayalee/Keralite will add more weight to your words.

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Viva Kerala.png)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Viva Kerala.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hey there...

I am trying to clean up some of the images with minor licensing issues and I came across Image:Manjith.jpg which is only used on your userpage. If you are going to use the image, could you go and fix the licensing on the image page and be clear about releasing the image under a GFDL license (or another free license). Thanks. File source problem with File:Manjith.jpg

[edit]
File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Manjith.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 18:28, 13 March 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ▫ JohnnyMrNinja 18:28, 13 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

NowCommons: File:Eastern Phoebe.JPG

[edit]

File:Eastern Phoebe.JPG is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:File:Eastern Phoebe.JPG. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all Wikimedia wikis. The image will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: [[File:Eastern Phoebe.JPG]]. Note that this is an automated message to inform you about the move. This bot did not copy the image itself. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 08:18, 21 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Powathil.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. File source problem with File:Indian Coffee House.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Indian Coffee House.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 20:50, 1 May 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 20:50, 1 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
