Oxford, Alabama 1870 Population
[edit]I should have explained my reason for removing the figure: It is not the population of Oxford Town for 1870. The 1,147 figure is for the entire Calhoun County 13th (Oxford) Beat/Precinct. http://www2.census.gov/prod2/decennial/documents/1870a-05.pdf There is no figure listed in 1870 for the town itself on the U.S. Census returns, which would be much lower than the 1,147. The earliest figure listed for the town itself on the U.S. Census was 1880 when it showed 780 persons. It is for this reason that the 1,147 figure should not be on the list of historical population. Hello. I've just moved Leota Plantation to mainspace. Perhaps you could find out more. I believe that Worthington Island (see this) should have its own page, as should Thomas Worthington. I have not worked out the entire family tree yet (there's a connection to Lycurgus Johnson by marriage for example, and to the Belmont Plantation), but it looked like they owned a lot of acreage and slaves. Let me know if you would like to help. Thank you.Zigzig20s (talk) 11:21, 30 December 2015 (UTC)

RE: Green Party deletions
[edit]I am nominating them for deletion because they are in very poor shape. They're so bad you would never see them in a proper encyclopedia. They need major work that is not being done. Some of these articles go tagged for years. Me-123567-Me (talk) 20:36, 3 January 2016 (UTC)

Edit-warring on articles about districts of Los Angeles
[edit]Your recent editing history at Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.
Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.
Note that in addition to Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles, this edit-warring also extends to Encino, Los Angeles and Toluca Lake, Los Angeles. If you are unable to reach agreement with the other editors involved, I suggest that you open a WP:RFC to find a consensus solution, and that in the meantime you all stop adding and/or reverting contested material. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 21:39, 17 January 2016 (UTC)

Your removal of text in Sir Adam Beck Hydroelectric Generating Stations
[edit]Please clarify the reason for your edit on this page -
(1) It was my understanding that lead paras weren't supposed to be bogged down with references. see WP:WHENNOTCITE
(2) are the station names a problem? abbreviated versions are already in the box to the right, and are available on OPG's website, which is listed as a reference later
(3) the quote on being the largest station in the world at the time is drawn from the text of the next section (and is sourced, with a link to an archive URL for good measure, by me).
(4) the only thing not explicitly referenced is the comment about earlier power stations. If that is a problem, then why not try and reference it yourself, or ask me about it?

Your Edit on the Franklin Pierce Article
[edit]Franklin Pierce was, in fact, the first President born in the nineteenth century. Whether it is "notable" I do not know, but it is factual. Also, the article on John F. Kennedy states that he was the first President born in the twentieth century, and the article on Dwight D. Eisenhower states that he was the last President born in the nineteenth century. Therefore, I thought it was appropriate to note that Franklin Pierce was the first President born in the nineteenth century.John Paul Parks (talk) 05:00, 9 February 2016 (UTC)

Removal of professional Ultimate team from sports section of Austin, TX
[edit]I am curious why you continue to remove any mention of a professional Ultimate team under the Austin,TX#Sports section of the Austin, TX wiki.
You cite that this is not news, but the sport of Ultimate has not only gained Olympic status[1] (unlike Women's football, which is cited) but is one of the fastest growing sports in the United States with a 24.7% increase in participation for children between 2007 and 2014 [2] and had 5.1 million participants in 2012. [3]
Given the fact that Austin lacks any top level professional sports teams, (only minor league and college level), it is worth mentioning that Austin actually does have a top level sports team. It should also be noted that the professional Ultimate team in Austin, the Austin Sol, is part of the American Ultimate Disc League, which has a multi-year broadcast agreement with ESPN[4]
Vsmmd (talk) 03:42, 11 February 2016 (UTC)vsmmd
- (talk page stalker)Do you have any reliable sourcing for the team you are trying to add? John from Idegon (talk) 04:43, 11 February 2016 (UTC)
Is the American Ultimate Disc League actual website not a reliable source?[5] The AUDL has been featured in the Bleacher Report[6], The New York Times[7], and SB Nation[8].
Locally, Fox News 7 has done a story reporting about the Austin Sol.[9]
Furthermore, other major cities such as Cincinnatti, Ohio; Madison, Wisconsin; and Charlotte, North Carolina all display their professional Ultimate teams under the sports section of their respective cities Wikipedia pages.
Vsmmd (talk) 15:31, 11 February 2016 (UTC)Vsmmd
- No, the league's own website is not a reliable source nor is the team's website. OTHERSTUFFEXISTS is not a valid arguement. NOTNEWS definitely applies as this organization has not even played a game yet. When the NYT writes about the team (not a competition they were in, not the league) in detail, then you can write an article about the team. You could then briefly mention then in the city's article with a wikilink.
- I must ask....do you have some connection to the team or the league? John from Idegon (talk) 16:26, 11 February 2016 (UTC)
I guess I don't see how the league's own website is not reliable. If the official NFL website said that the Oakland Raiders were moving to Austin and have the "Austin Raiders" listed in their "NFC-Whatever official" division would that not be THE definitive source?
I can point to articles in Ultiworld, which is the largest Ultimate-related magazine, but then I would wonder if you would not consider that a reliable source. In fact, if the NYTimes is the standard for reliable references, I would love to see sources for any of the other Austin sports teams mentioned in the NYTimes. I certainly don't see any references cited for the Austin Outlaws other than their own wikipedia page, which only has their own website cited as a reference.
My logic is as follows:
1. The AUDL is established a professional sports league. (Evidenced by previous cited references.)
2. If the AUDL is established as a professional sports league, then all teams that operate within the AUDL are professional sports teams.
3. The Austin Sol operates within the AUDL, therefore, the Austin Sol is a professional sports team.
4. The sports section in the Austin wiki is meant to list the professional sports teams in Austin.
5. The Austin Sol should be listed as a professional sports team in Austin.
However, I do fully recognize your point that the Sol hasn't played a game yet. That is valid and I can wait until their season has started.
To answer your question, I am very actively involved in the Ultimate community, and this has been news to the national Ultimate community (again over 5.1 million participants) for over the past year. I wanted to update the city's wiki accordingly.
I have not included the Ultimate club teams that operate within Austin, despite their notoriety, including the men's team winning the USA Ultimate National Championship in 2012[10], and members being selected for Team USA for the World Games, as they are not professional/paid and do not have a schedule that operates within the city.
Vsmmd (talk) 18:28, 11 February 2016 (UTC)Vsmmd
- I will ask again. What is your connection to this? I've left some links on your page as to how Wikipedia works. You obviously do not get it. It is not for publicity. John from Idegon (talk) 18:36, 11 February 2016 (UTC)

- My connection is that I play Ultimate and I live in Austin. Sorry for being excited? But you're right, I don't get it. Other major cities have teams in this league listed. I don't understand why Austin does not. I've read the "Other stuff exists" and it seems like it can go both ways being valid or invalid. But isn't that the point of using the talk feature? There's no editing war going on. I was looking for your logic and I will check out the links you left on my page.
- I'm not trying to promote anything. I don't even believe I linked the website in my original revision. In the realm of a fairly large subculture (Ultimate), this is absolutely noteworthy news. In the context of another large subculture (the city of Austin), I was simply listing that the team exists among other existing teams.
- And on that note-- if I add the Round Rock Express as an Austin area sports team, is that going to be deleted? (Full disclosure: I like baseball too.)
Vsmmd (talk) 20:09, 11 February 2016 (UTC)Vsmmd
- Yes it would, as Round Rock is not Austin. And to answer your previous hypothetical about a pro football team moving here, no, we would not include it based on what the team's website says. Encyclopedias are tertiary sources. That means our content is based almost entirely on what secondary sources say. Obviously, the team's website is primary. You are welcome to start a discussion on the talk page of the article as to whether to include this, and consensus, built through arguments based on policy and reliable sources will rule the day. Keep in mind that at this point you have two editors opposing your position, so be prepared to make much sounder arguments than you have here. Pretty much all your points have been some variation of ILIKEIT, which will not win anyone to a consensus. John from Idegon (talk) 21:24, 11 February 2016 (UTC)

Sorry for no resources
[edit]Magnolia667, I must submit my apologies for not finding any internet pages that back up my sight. I submitted my "Gambling" section of Cheyenne after I seen the place, thinking that people should know about is effects on the Cheyenne area. Unfortunately, because I am using a safe search, I didn't find any articles on it. After seeing your reply, I will promise to keep it removed. Thank You. 174.45.128.124 (talk) 16:59, 22 February 2016 (UTC)

If you have issues with my edits try to state the specifics of what it is you're objecting to on the article's talk page rather than blanketly removing content and verifiable info.99.225.150.245 (talk) 05:51, 25 February 2016 (UTC)
Minnie J. Grinstead
[edit]Hi! As you're aware, Minnie J. Grinstead was tagged as a possible copyvio both by CorenSearchBot and by a real human editor; the nature of the problem with the page was clearly explained on the talk page by Moonriddengirl. Since little seems to have been done to resolve the matter (see this comparison), I've now blanked the page and listed it at WP:CP for processing. I'm sorry, but I saw no alternative. If you'd like to work on a rewrite, you can do so at this temporary page. This clumsily handwritten note is instead of the customary large and invasive template. New Jersey maps
[edit]Hey there. I am sorry, but that wasn't me who made those edits. It must have been someone in the house when I left everything logged in, they must've edited without me knowing. Anyway, I took a look at those pages that were changed, and I wondered what would be the standard practice. Because some pages use 1 map and others, like the ones you created, use 2 maps. Should 2 maps be added to each page? I have a feeling this was discussed a while back. Tinton5 (talk) 05:30, 29 February 2016 (UTC)
- Not a problem. When I created Pinkneyville, New Jersey and other New Jersey articles I added a pushpin map similar to those found on several city and town articles across the US. Another editor subsequently added a second map to the infobox. I haven't seen any policy forbidding this though it makes the infobox really long on these stub article. Cheers. Hello again. Not sure if you are interested in this, but I think we should add a list of all state senators and representatives per district. We could start with this one. Chickasaw County, Mississippi communities

DYK for Cibolo Creek Ranch
[edit]On 7 March 2016, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Cibolo Creek Ranch, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Cibolo Creek Ranch, where Antonin Scalia died, was a shooting location for the films The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada, There Will Be Blood, and No Country for Old Men? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Cibolo Creek Ranch. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, daily totals), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page. |

Austin, Minnesota
[edit]Thanks for your edits to Austin, Minnesota. As you have seen, I've been working very hard on this page lately and it's very helpful to have a good editor review my work. I think the vast majority of your changes are very positive and I agree with them. Some of the photos were redundant and duly removed. I also appreciated the reorganization of some sections. I did restore a one photo that I feel is a very good representation of the city's nature preserve. Thanks for keeping an eye on the page and for justifying/explaining your edits with comments. I undid your addition of Gervan Fearon to this article as a notable alumni again. He may well be notable, but you cannot justify his inclusion simply by saying that he is. If you are not willing to write an article for him then per WP:SIGCOV you need to show that he has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject. Your single Share News source is not sufficient, and I'm not sure that it even qualifies as a reliable source. It appears to be more than just a blog, but I don't know that it meets the requirements of WP:NEWSORG. For example, I don't know who wrote the piece (just the admin of the website), and I don't know if Share News does fact-checking and has a reputation for accuracy. Meters (talk) 00:49, 28 March 2016 (UTC)
- Please see my response at Talk:West Hill Collegiate Institute#Disputed addition of notable alumni. Thank you. Magnolia677 (talk) 00:55, 28 March 2016 (UTC)
You've been in a fair amount of trouble before, because of your continuing conflicts with Alansohn, which went to ArbCom, and one of your problems is that you don't listen and you don't have a very good sense of visual layout, You follow guidelines as if they were absolutely mandatory rules, which they are not. My advice to you is to move on to other articles, and to deal with content issues,. not layout issues, which you really have no talent for. Also, ease up on thinking that MOS is mandatory -- it is not, and never has been, it is a guideline, which means it is advisory. In this way, you're much more likely to stay out of trouble. BMK (talk) 21:12, 28 March 2016 (UTC)
- Your edit to Herald Square was sloppy and you evidently have little regard for guidelines. If your edit was purely vexatious, shame on you. Moving forward, this may assist you. Magnolia677 (talk) 22:04, 28 March 2016 (UTC)
Edit War
[edit]As previously discussed in the comments of the reverts, you are seem to be having an edit war for the article Golden, Colorado. This directly violates the policy at WP:EW and also appears to violate WP:GF. At Talk:Golden, Colorado, I encouraged you to edit to improve wikipedia. It's fair enough that I meet you half way. So you don't have to go through the references for Brianne Nelson, albeit there are only 5 so it wouldn't be that hard anyways, here is a refernece showing she is from Golden - [1]. I think it is fair to warn you that continued edit wars only hurt wikipedia and the editors. RonSigPi (talk) 00:30, 29 March 2016 (UTC)
- Thank your for sharing WP:EW. If you read that policy you will see "reverting to enforce certain overriding policies is not considered edit warring". Please take a moment to read WP:V (an overriding policy), which states:
- "Verifiability, no original research and neutral point of view are Wikipedia's core content policies".
- "Any material lacking a reliable source directly supporting it may be removed and should not be restored without an inline citation to a reliable source".
- You added Brianne Nelson as a notable person to Golden, Colorado without a source. Ok, so I checked the target article (which you wrote), and that article makes no mention of her being from Golden Colorado. I even told you that in the edit summary when I deleted her. So instead of adding a source to both articles, you add a link to the source on my talk page (and on the Golden talk page you told me to go find a source for myself), and accuse me of edit waring for deleting your unsourced edits. Am I missing something? Magnolia677 (talk) 02:08, 29 March 2016 (UTC)

I consulted a professional photographer and he suggested the image that I put up there is better than the 2,440*843 image used to be there. - I hadn't noticed a sourced entry elsewhere in the article for the edit you made. Perhaps I missed it. Magnolia677 (talk) 00:38, 24 May 2016 (UTC)
- I was referring to the fact that the population numbers of 2010 and 2015 had been "accepted" in the article, and that the corresponding numbers had also been "accepted" for McKenzie County. A mathematical check into the numbers for McKenzie County would suggest an obvious discrepancy between the original statement in the Williams County article and the numbers in McKenzie County. Regarding your revision of the Corrections i made to the Apalachicola Climate Table
[edit]Hello
If you open the Nowdata Source for the Climate Table, and then click on the Daily/Monthly Normals for Apalachicola Ap, the site will show this. http://i.imgur.com/5yrqIca.png For some reason it will not open the Climate Table. What you need to do to see the normals is:
Open the map "View Map"
Then Click on "Show more Stations" below the map first http://i.imgur.com/nSXMIRM.png
Then Click on the Apalachicola Ap on the map http://i.imgur.com/5juSBBW.png
Now click on "Daily/Monthly Normals" and then Go http://i.imgur.com/9YEgLEP.png
Then it works (atleast for me) http://i.imgur.com/uontlK0.png http://i.imgur.com/1GiGXah.png
I corrected the Normals in the Wiki Box to these. The Wikipedia Table for Apalachicola as it is now is simply wrong.
There's also an other way to get the same climate normals without using the buggy Nowdata site
National Climate Data Center http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/cdo-web/datatools/normals
Choose Florida and Apalachicola Airport http://i.imgur.com/QwPK9Hi.png http://i.imgur.com/VzVIBAM.png
I hope you see now, that i changed the Normals to the correct ones. Then you changed them back to the wrong ones. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Guajara3718 (talk • contribs) 09:10, 30 May 2016 (UTC)

Hello, I see that you are doing a very big mistake in the page Victoria, British Columbia and with me. What's that that "I may be blocked if I put unsourced content" ? Have you ever seen my contributions and edits on Wikipedia ¿? I make unsourced changes?? Now please check it by yourself. You're insulting me.
- I will explain you something about the climate. First of all, here it is the source.<ref>http://koeppen-geiger.vu-wien.ac.at/pics/kottek_et_al_2006.gif</ref> And now I will explain about the classification of the climates, as I only changed the name of the climate according to the official parameters of the Köppen Climate Classification, as as you can check by yourself (prior to my edition) the climate is CSb, which means Warm-summer Mediterrean climate, because the average temperature in the hottest month doesn't exceed 22ºC/71.6F. I strongly recommend you to check the climate classification before you revert my changes and also "warn" me about making "unsourced changes". I mean... what? Why do I need a source when the page was saying "CSb" and it was indicating "mediterranean climate" when it's referencing to Köppen's climate classification, and according to that classification, CSb is not a hot summer mediterranean climate/normal mediterranean climate. It's a warm summer mediterreanean climate.
- You can check it on the page from above. I don't need any advises, I'm from here from long time ago and I only do sourced and valuable edits. In this case it isn't needed any source as it's clear.
- In fact, I've also added a source now to the page of Victoria's climate. Here you have the image of Worldwide's climate (Southern Canada can be easily distinguished).<ref>http://koeppen-geiger.vu-wien.ac.at/pics/kottek_et_al_2006.gif</ref> Also I put it here. You can check it in the page of Köppen climate classification, there is a map on the page of mediterranean climate, but also I will put it on the page. Please, the next time, better check what you revert and prove if it's true or not. I never make false changes or unsourced changes unless in a few cases like this one, where they aren't needed. Yes, I have a couple of warnings for edit warring, that's all. And finally the administrators gave me the reason. That was a year ago. Thanks
Also I would like to say that I don't say it in a bad mood. But I didn't like at all how you treated me at first, like if I was a new editor here and I was doing what I wanted. No, I'm not that kind of person. I work here to improve the Wikipedia. I've just seen an error and I've corrected it. Next time, please check it before you revert any changes. Anyways, thanks for the advice. Regards! --TechnicianGB (talk) 15:36, 14 June 2016 (UTC)
New article. Somehow the Elkman tool didn't work, so no infobox. The JSTOR article is interesting and it looks like the original planter may have been related to Thomas Whitmore (MP) of Apley Hall.Zigzig20s (talk) 20:13, 15 June 2016 (UTC)
I hope 173.29.101.109 isn't a 10-year-old, because otherwise their many edits to articles about executed and murdered people would be even more disturbing. Trivialist (talk) 12:16, 18 June 2016 (UTC)
- Indeed. Has been sent to the time out room anyway. Cheers. Magnolia677 (talk) 12:24, 18 June 2016 (UTC)
- New user Alex Piela appears to have identical editing interests as 173.29.101.109. Trivialist (talk) 18:59, 21 June 2016 (UTC)
Kristina Pimenova
[edit]Hello, you have now voted twice to delete Kristina Pimenova, but you still didn't explain why you think that more than 4 million fans is not enough. Also, it is not a vote. Lyrda (talk) 20:25, 19 June 2016 (UTC)
- If it's not a vote, then actually, I haven't voted at all! Magnolia677 (talk) 20:31, 19 June 2016 (UTC)

It is 3 words - just let it go. Wizzy…☎ 07:18, 20 June 2016 (UTC)
New article you may enjoy (and possibly be able to add a map to the infobox?). I really must ask my boss for a raise because this could be mine!Zigzig20s (talk) 12:10, 20 June 2016 (UTC)
Copyright issue with Data USA maps?
[edit]I noticed your reversion here. I have similar concerns but am not sure I understand the issue all that well, and have begun a discussion here if you have any insights - thanks! JohnInDC (talk) 03:25, 21 June 2016 (UTC)

Hey.
[edit]I know that it has been a while since we have last communicated. I would like to say that I'm still sorry for the "vandalism" that I had done when I was first starting out on Wikipedia. I tried to edit them in good faith, but you were right, non-cited stuff might as well be hogwash. Thank you. ExecutiveWashington (talk) 08:32, 30 June 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks for the note. Cheers. Magnolia677 (talk) 23:02, 30 June 2016 (UTC)
