Advice/Contribution

Hey, I Wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy News Year! I have been working expanding the Yuderqui Contreras article in user page. I would like to know if is possible for you to come by and check it out. I will also would like you to check for a possible DYK. Thanks in advance. Oscar 22:35, 30 December 2011 (UTC)

I'll have a look later. Right now I'm working on the discography article for Chayanne and later Cristian Castro on my sandboxes. Erick (talk) 22:44, 30 December 2011 (UTC)
Ok! Take your time. Oscar 03:05, 31 December 2011 (UTC)
I will, as soon I promote the article to mainspace. I am trying to find a picture, but I haven't found any yet. Oscar 03:37, 18 January 2012 (UTC)
Still haven't found any picture. A peer review have been requested. Also a DYK have been submitted and aproved. But, my hear broke down after some comments received by an editor about the lead and the persona bio. Could you please compare the currect article and this draft, before transfering the draft to mainspace? I have another DYK I would like to submit, ... that 2012 Olympian Yuderqui Contreras have been six times Weightlifter of the Year. Thanks for your comments. Osplace 22:26, 23 July 2012 (UTC)
I will do a review sometime later. Right now, I'm preparing the task force to be moved into a WikiProject. Erick (talk) 01:12, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
Ok thank you! Good look with the transfer! Osplace 01:16, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
I asked for a peer review, but anyone answered. I feel so sad, the article looks fine to me, but thats not enough. I don't know what to do. I will try to improve even more the article, but still no picture. Thanks for everything, and please write in my talk instead of the article's. Osplace 02:43, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
It is still possible to get the article reviewed for GA? Osplace 18:32, 11 August 2012 (UTC)

Well done. Braincricket (talk)

Congratulations! Extensive work, deserved. Oscar 01:21, 14 March 2012 (UTC)

I have been tracking your updates on different Latin American Artists related articles, you seem to be known as one of the finest editors, Congratulations, and keep working. I hope I will be back editing later this week. Oscar 11:32, 1 May 2012 (UTC)

Latin Digital Songs charts

How can I find the peak positions for these? (besides a paid subscription) Thanks, Jonayo! Selena 4 ever 23:54, 20 January 2012 (UTC)

I don't think the Latin Digital Charts are public if you're not a subscriber. Even if you could, it's not advised to use if a song has already charted on the Latin Song. here. Erick (talk) 03:57, 21 January 2012 (UTC)
Alright, thanks for replying. Best, Jonayo! Selena 4 ever 20:06, 24 January 2012 (UTC)

Discography

Can you please tell me what changed? I know about the higher value debate but did something recently changed? Best, Jonayo! Selena 4 ever 22:29, 24 January 2012 (UTC)

I'm still not following what you mean? What do you mean by abbreviations on certs? I checked the JLO discography and see no difference between Selena's discography. I'll ping Michael to see if he can further explain before I nominate at FLC. Best, Jonayo! Selena 4 ever 22:46, 24 January 2012 (UTC)
He's going to be very busy this week, but can you give an example of what needs to be done from Selena albums discography? From this I can better understand on what you are trying to tell me lolz. Best, Jonayo! Selena 4 ever 22:59, 24 January 2012 (UTC)
Erick I'm not working on the JLO discography, which already passed FLC back in October 2011 by Tomica and Status. I was talking about like is there an example on Selena's album discography that needs to be fixed per WP:DISCOGRAPHY as you pointed out? Best, Jonayo! Selena 4 ever 23:08, 24 January 2012 (UTC)
Can you check if I done it right? Best, Jonayo! Selena 4 ever 23:28, 24 January 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for notifying me :-) I would like to nominate it at FLC, but before I do are there any blatant MOS issues with the article (that you currently know of)? Best, Jonayo! Selena 4 ever 23:32, 24 January 2012 (UTC)
It's okay. What's wrong, everything's ok? Best, Jonayo! Selena 4 ever 23:37, 24 January 2012 (UTC)
Well cheer up its almost your birthday! I'm not sure if you celebrate it or not, but I get a bit tense and "under the weather" whenever its my bday, mostly because of past memories etc. But anyways, I hope your day improves :-) Best, Jonayo! Selena 4 ever 23:47, 24 January 2012 (UTC)

Why did you add a "see also" article that is already on there? Best, Jonayo! Selena 4 ever 23:34, 26 January 2012 (UTC)

Oh I see the difference lolz. BTW with all the lists you have worked on, are you going to bring them to FLC? Best, Jonayo! Selena 4 ever 23:41, 26 January 2012 (UTC)
Well you should :-) I doubt it will be any trouble for you. Best, Jonayo! Selena 4 ever 23:47, 26 January 2012 (UTC)
You're welcome :-) BTW what's the status on Romances? Best, Jonayo! Selena 4 ever 23:51, 26 January 2012 (UTC)
Oh yea I forgot you requested it there. So for the time being, you're not going to work on other articles? You've been "laid back" lately. Best, Jonayo! Selena 4 ever 00:01, 27 January 2012 (UTC)
Lolz my last name came from my stepfather who is Dominican :-) BTW I did some referencing fixings on the article, you can undo them if you like. Also there seems to be an inconsistency with retrieval dates, compare FN#13 and FN#36. Best, Jonayo! Selena 4 ever 00:13, 27 January 2012 (UTC)
Yea those are easy to forget :/ Well if you need anything just ping me :-) Best, Jonayo! Selena 4 ever 00:27, 27 January 2012 (UTC)

Christian Castro

Hey!!!! did you hear that he recently recorded "Como La Flor" for an upcoming tribute duet album for Selena? I'm so excited!!! lolz He confirmed via his Twitter plus Selena Gomez and Camila have been confirmed so far. I hope they get some mainstream artists as well like Beyonce, Shakira, etc you know? But yea I just wanted to share the news with you, considering that you are a fan of Castro :-) I hope the album peaks at #1 on the Billboard 200, what!!! that would mean even more records Selena will break :-) Finally her family are doing something worth while. Best, Jonayo! Selena 4 ever 07:57, 28 January 2012 (UTC)

Yea the Selena VIVE album, but they had too many unknown Mexican artists like yeah that's going to chart lolz. But hopefully with this album they will include high profile artists like the ones you have mentioned. I have a feeling it will impact the Billboard 200, though I don't know who is Camila, but Gomez has a big following with the younger generation who will buy the album. Castro, I know who he is, is sure going to sell. Just hope they add some more good artists, I'm a bit skeptical about Gomez. Her performance of Bidi Bidi Bom Bom was horrible, but according to the news article, Justin Bieber encouraged her to do it. Best, Jonayo! Selena 4 ever 19:29, 28 January 2012 (UTC)
I'm not into teen pop myself ;-) Idk if Shakira would even be interested, the only time she ever covered Selena was Amor Prohibido and that was only for a few seconds, other than that, she really never talks about her. Beyonce talks more about Selena than Shakira, kinda sad lolz. Best, Jonayo! Selena 4 ever 20:16, 28 January 2012 (UTC)

EMI just released one of the duets here it's Amor Prohibido con Samo. Do you know him? Anyways, I'm so excited and can't wait for the album... it says it will be released on April 3, 2012 and it's gonna be called "Enamorada de Ti" (one of my fav songs from her) :D Yay for new (well...) Selena songs :-) Best, Jonayo! Selena 4 ever 20:49, 8 February 2012 (UTC)

Never mind I just found out he's from Camila. lolz Jonayo! Selena 4 ever 21:18, 8 February 2012 (UTC)

Hey you.

hey Erick, I just wanted to know if Latinrapper.com could be used as a trusty reference for some other articles that I am creating. Been over a year since I've started editing but I still don't know how to tell which websites are okay to use as citations. I also wanted to know which other Latin music websites I could refer to. I also have been wondering about Corrientelatina.com and Nochelatina.com. Thanks, buddy. It's been awhile since I could actually log onto a PC. Gariseiro (talk)

Okay thanks very much. I just checked it out. It's amazing how fast you work on an article while doing a meticulous job. I have been pretty booked lately so I haven't been able to put too much work into a lot of articles. Well now it's safe to say I am back, for real this time lol. Gariseiro (talk)
(talk page stalker) If I may, Latinrapper.com is not a reliable source mostly because its a "how-to" site than a commentary/review database. But you can ask the noticeboard, which Erick linked to you, for a more experienced user's thoughts. Best, Jonayo! Selena 4 ever 20:18, 28 January 2012 (UTC)
Talk page stalker lol. Well thank you very much. Any kind of information is helpful to me at the moment. I'm still a rookie editor. Gariseiro (talk)

Case sensitivity

It's WT:Record charts, not WT:RECORD CHARTS. Your edit summaries have redlinks in them.—Kww(talk) 02:23, 29 February 2012 (UTC)

Re: Prince Royce

Yes, it's completely fine with me. I've actually gone really busy yet again. I can't ever catch a break. Feel free to edit any one of my sandboxes. In fact, I need to change what I'm editing in some of them because a lot of them don't have enough info so there's point in recareting some of them. Gariseiro (talk) 07:00, 1 March 2012 (UTC)

Re: Latin American music task force importance

I reassessed the FAs, FLs, GAs, FFAs, and FGAs from the project. If I find LATAM-related articles I'll re-assess them. Tbhotch. Grammatically incorrect? Correct it! See terms and conditions. 03:03, 16 March 2012 (UTC)

Charts

Hi! I would first like to sincerely thank you for adding the sound files to Residente o Visitante. I really appreciate it. Your contributions to Latin American music articles are amazing! I was wondering, do you know where to find charts for how well albums perform commercially in Latin America? Right now, the article only has Billboard chart history, and I think it could really benefit from a more diverse array of charts. Thanks again! Basilisk4u (talk) 04:20, 20 March 2012 (UTC)

Re: I did not see this guideline (Caps related)

I find that rule thing incredibly stupid. It's OK to write it in its proper caps in its language in the article, but not the article's title... :/ — Status {talkcontribs 07:39, 20 March 2012 (UTC)

Titles of foreign-language works

There is actually a policy that states that foreign language titling and capitalizing conventions must be respected, unless said titles have been adapted into the English language unchanged (except for capitalization; e.g. "Les Misérablés"), which is rarely the case. I don't recall the policy right now, but I'll find it. T.W. (talk) 17:13, 23 March 2012 (UTC)

Montaner

— Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.6.60.31 (talk) 21:51, 25 March 2012 (UTC)

Moving song articles

I see you are trying to move several Spanish language song article, changing the capitalization. But on at least some of them your tagged the articles for deletion rather than the redirects. If you want to do a move, you delete the redirect not the article. Otherwize there would be no article to move. I have moved the deletion tag on three of them to the redirects. I don't know if there are more. —teb728 t c 07:53, 29 March 2012 (UTC)

I move the deletion tags on a total of eleven and just deleted the tags on nine more. —teb728 t c 09:51, 29 March 2012 (UTC)
Ah, my apologies, I mistook the process of tagging db-move. I will take care of properly tagging db-moves in the future. Erick (talk) 13:01, 29 March 2012 (UTC)

Romances

I have checked the images of the article "Romances" you nominated for FAC. Unfortunately, the image of Luis Miguel had been uploaded to Commons by a user claiming he had taken the photo, but it seems that was not true. It was uploaded in 2008, but it was already available in 2006 at here (and even there, there's a link to a defunct page that may be the original source). But to avoid breaking the article, I replaced it with another one from Commons (you may change it if you want, but there's not much to choose from). In the future, you may test if an image is clean or taken from somewhere else using the page Tineye.

I will complete the review later. Good luck! Cambalachero (talk) 19:32, 19 April 2012 (UTC)

Thank you for the update and I look forward to your review. :) Erick (talk) 20:06, 19 April 2012 (UTC)

Venezuelan Record Report

Could you create an article on the Record Report charts from Venezuela? By adding the chart positions to articles and creating categories for number ones on these charts, a reader has no way of knowing the notability of these charts, its methodology, or the significance of a song topping any of them. Thanks. --StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 21:04, 25 April 2012 (UTC)

Hey, thanks a lot. You really don't even have to show it to me; just create a stub with a claim that these are official music charts of Venezuela and an external link. Shoot, even many of the articles on different Billboard charts are not greatly sourced. But if we could get it included on WP:GOODCHARTS, that would be great. --StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 22:07, 25 April 2012 (UTC)

About 'Independiente', GA nomination and Latin work.

Hi! I'd liek to thank you again for showing me what needed to be done on Independiente (Ricardo Arjona album). Notwithstanding, i would like you to review the article after the peer review process is finished. Would you do this for me? =). --Hahc21 (talk) 19:19, 10 May 2012 (UTC)

Mexican certifications

Hi! Thanks for formatting the certifications into a single reference, but a problem arose. I don't know why, but searching anything on the mexican AMPROFON certifications database returns nothing. It is worrying me because the CAPIF from Argentina also deactivated their website due to the 2012 Gardel Awards. I wouldn't like this to affect the GA review process. How can i do? --Hahc21 (talk) 22:11, 16 May 2012 (UTC)

.Oh, i saw your comment on the review page. Thanks! --Hahc21 (talk) 22:12, 16 May 2012 (UTC)

A need an opinion.

Hi! I have a problem. I recently nominated for deletion the article Cat Daddy because i thought it didin't meet the song notability guideline. The article creator believed i was taking a fight and renominated the article, which i failed at GAC. Some editors have supported the article to stay, and i want you to look at it and give me your opinion. I'd really appreciate your help :( (please help me!). --Hahc21 (talk) 02:54, 21 May 2012 (UTC)

I'm afraid this is out of my league. I've asked a more experienced user to comment since he knows how notability works for songs more than I do. Erick (talk) 03:06, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
Thanks! --Hahc21 [TALK][CONTRIBS] 03:29, 21 May 2012 (UTC)

Removal of the singles' articles of Mary Ann Acevedo

Hello. I see you removed the 5 articles of the singles of Mary Ann Acevedo (Mírame, Que Ironía, Débil, Llegaste Tú and Génesis) without notice that these were eliminated as "not notable songs." It would be very favorable, that before an elimination as concurrent as this, make a notice in the section "talk" of the article to alert users that work in these articles about the possible and prompt disposal of it. Puertorriquenosoy (talk) 21:19, 1 June 2012 (UTC)

National Report

Hi! Maybe i was a little upset on the CHARTS, but the comment from that user really bothered me. I prefer if we investigate outside that scope, and document everything here. I cannot support such bad comments from other revirwers trying to undervaluate latin charts. =/ --Hahc21 [TALK][CONTRIBS] 01:42, 2 June 2012 (UTC)

And the comment i wrote wasn't for you: i have to clarify. I don't want you to think it was for you =) --Hahc21 [TALK][CONTRIBS] 01:49, 2 June 2012 (UTC)
I mean i wasn't mad or upset with you... Regards. --Hahc21 [TALK][CONTRIBS] 01:50, 2 June 2012 (UTC)
It's okay, I think I shouldn't have asked so soon. A part of me still finds it a bit of odd that's not considered reliable when it seems to be a full-fledged company and everything. I have an idea, why don't ask you ask them yourself? I'm pretty sure it has a "Contact Us" so you can ask them how they rank their charts. EDIT: Didn't he actually Link 10 "is the one"? Erick (talk) 01:58, 2 June 2012 (UTC)

Hi, Magiciandude, I've just begun the copy-edit you requested at the GOCE requests page for the above article. Please feel free to alter, revert or discuss my changes if I'm doing something I shouldn't. I'm sorry you've waited so long for copy-editing. Cheers, Baffle gab1978 (talk) 04:11, 2 June 2012 (UTC)

It's cool. Thanks for the copy-edit. :) Erick (talk) 04:14, 2 June 2012 (UTC)
Done - Hi again, I've now finished copy-editing. I've made some drastic changes to the article, rearranged and restructured the text. In particular, I've moved the biographical information about the musicians to their own articles - Álex Ubago, Lena Burke and Jorge Villamizar - because I think it's more appropriate in those articles. Luckily this hasn't upset the references in the remaining text. So the article is now much shorter, but more concise. I hope that's okay; feel free to re-add the information if you wish. Cheers, Baffle gab1978 (talk) 03:02, 3 June 2012 (UTC)
Thank you very much! :) Erick (talk) 03:05, 3 June 2012 (UTC)

Project

I'm working on this: User:Hahc21/sandbox/Poquita Ropa (film), feel free to give me a hand or add info if you wish XD Still waiting for the veredict at WP:CHARTS. --Hahc21 [TALK][CONTRIBS] 19:00, 2 June 2012 (UTC)

I can't sorry. I know absolutely nothing about making a film article. My specialties are album and song articles. EDIT: In the meantime, let's trying developing the article for National-Report in this sandbox. Erick (talk) 22:58, 2 June 2012 (UTC)
And the info that is in there? It is not related to NR. Hey! "Somebody That I Used to Know" got promoted (my first GA)! I'm working on the Making Mirrors album in this sandbox. I'll be developinn with you the NR and Mi Tierra. Hey, what about the request Status made you about "Qué Hiciste"? --Hahc21 [TALK][CONTRIBS] 23:13, 2 June 2012 (UTC)
I know, I haven't started it yet. That sandbox is where I made Record Report and Monitor Latino and you can start without me, it doesn't have to be a big article. Yeah, it seems everyone is asking for anything. I promised I would help out with two other editors as well. Erick (talk) 23:36, 2 June 2012 (UTC)
Hehe ok i will start soon. I think i can have it done by tomorrow. --Hahc21 [TALK][CONTRIBS] 23:52, 2 June 2012 (UTC)

Spanish J.Lo

  • What do you think about "Me haces falta" (waiting for the page to be moved) so far? The same background info can be placed in "Qué Hiciste" as well. Do you think you could find a source for the Venezuela Airplay Charts peak? Or if there's any other Latin peaks for the song? Thanks, — Statυs (talk) 23:59, 2 June 2012 (UTC)
  • Hi Status! Maybe i can help, since Erick is a bit busy. I can handle the search for the VZLA airplay chart (although it's a little difficult, since i live in Caracas and never saw charts until RR appeared) and i would like to give you a hand with "Que Hiciste". I'm a big fan of hers. --Hahc21 [TALK][CONTRIBS] 00:22, 3 June 2012 (UTC)
@Status: I did a quick check and came up nothing except news articles stating that it was released as a single. It probably would not satisfy WP:SONGS. @Hahc21: Check out Wikipedia:WikiProject Jennifer Lopez. Sandboxes are worked on over there. Erick (talk) 02:47, 3 June 2012 (UTC)
I think it will be fine. I'm trying to dig up some commentary on the song now. Daddy (Beyoncé Knowles song) never charted, and it has an article; even passed GA. "Me Haces Falta" also has a music video, whereas "Daddy" doesn't. — Statυs (talk) 03:12, 3 June 2012 (UTC)
Personally, I'm not too keen on song articles that haven't charted/won awards. I mean, couldn't all the information just fit in "Como Ama una Mujer"? But if you have an idea how to make it work, well hey I'm not stopping you. Let's use the WikiProject talk page to discuss more about Como Ama una Mujer. Erick (talk) 03:18, 3 June 2012 (UTC)
I will dig deep enough to find all that i can from "Me Haces Falta", but i'll do it tomorrow, right now i'm working on a database containing many Billboard artist IDs to avoid visiting the site each time we'll use both {{singlechart}} and {{albumchart}}. --Hahc21 [TALK][CONTRIBS] 03:33, 3 June 2012 (UTC)
Sounds good. Maybe even have Como Ama una Mujer and Que Hiciste use the albumchart/singlechart template? Erick (talk) 03:43, 3 June 2012 (UTC)
It will be perfect. Take a look at what i've done to date: User:Hahc21/Albumchart/Billboard_IDs. --Hahc21 [TALK][CONTRIBS] 03:46, 3 June 2012 (UTC)

Woah! Quite the effort indeed. Erick (talk) 03:47, 3 June 2012 (UTC)

=D I hope to craft a list of 1000 artists. Would it be too much? XD --Hahc21 [TALK][CONTRIBS] 03:51, 3 June 2012 (UTC)
Is too much ever a bad thing in this case? :P We never got the word from TPH btw. Erick (talk) 04:06, 3 June 2012 (UTC)
Right. He left us on a cliffhanger U.U. XD Look again at the page. i've added a lot more XD --Hahc21 [TALK][CONTRIBS] 04:17, 3 June 2012 (UTC)
....0_o Anyways I'll just ask him. Erick (talk) 04:29, 3 June 2012 (UTC)
He answered. He said that if we find a way to verify the positions, the the chart is in (EPIC WIN) --Hahc21 [TALK][CONTRIBS] 04:37, 3 June 2012 (UTC)
I know, I asked. :P You can go ahead and start on my sandbox for it. Erick (talk) 04:39, 3 June 2012 (UTC)
Ok. I'll be on it tomorrow. I'm thinking on a template to add Billboard IDs easily into the single and album templates. Something like {{Billboard|Ricardo Arjona}} and the template returns the number 29908, which is the ID. --Hahc21 [TALK][CONTRIBS] 04:51, 3 June 2012 (UTC)

I DID IT! Ups, i'm a little excited. I created the template and it works! Now we don't need to write the number but the name! =) Take a look: User:Hahc21/Albumchart/BillboardID. --Hahc21 [TALK][CONTRIBS] 05:24, 3 June 2012 (UTC)

Huzzah! And perfect timing! I'm just about to start up the article for National-Report. :) EDIT: Here it is!

Oh! and about Como Ama una Mujer‎, i have the album. I can help with the credits and personnel, ad well as all technical info. --Hahc21 [TALK][CONTRIBS] 06:16, 3 June 2012 (UTC)
Can you please also add it to Me Haces Falta (the specific credits)? I actually do not own the album physically, sadly. :( I am a horrible fan. — Statυs (talk) 06:30, 3 June 2012 (UTC)

I have all of her albums. So you can ask me for any credit you need =) --Hahc21 [TALK][CONTRIBS] 06:58, 3 June 2012 (UTC)
Well, if you're ever bored one day, I'm pretty sure most of her singles lack a credits and personnel section (apart from the more recent ones). I only own J.Lo, J to tha Lo, Rebirth, Brave and Love? physically, as well as three "If You Had My Love" singles. xD — Statυs (talk) 07:16, 3 June 2012 (UTC)

I found the Billboard review issued March 31, 2007. Is here: [1] on page 51. Here's the Vibe magazine review from May 2007: [2] On page 116. This might be useful: [3] On page 221; this: [4] On page 107; this: [5] on page 32. =) --Hahc21 [TALK][CONTRIBS] 07:26, 3 June 2012 (UTC)

Haha i don't have any physical singles since here in my country they just doesn't exist XD. Are you going to her concert? Well, it's 4 a.m. here. I'm going to sleep some 4 hours before resuming my studying marathon for next week's math exam. See you later =) --Hahc21 [TALK][CONTRIBS] 08:43, 3 June 2012 (UTC)

Damn. We have a really good DYK for "Qué Hiciste" but I don't think it will be able to get to 50k by the 7th. P.S. I finished up "Me Haces Falta" and nominated it for DYK. Gonna nominate for GA same time as "No Me Ames". Hopefully "Qué Hiciste" can be nominated at the same time too. — Statυs  22:31, 4 June 2012 (UTC)

I'll pick up "No Me Ames" for review. --Hahc21 [TALK][CONTRIBS] 00:12, 5 June 2012 (UTC)

Another of my crazy ideas:

Hey! Whataya think of this? Should it be a task force? It's a project i have in my mind. --Hahc21 [TALK][CONTRIBS] 22:25, 3 June 2012 (UTC)

Here's the problem though. There aren't many users that contribute to Spanish-langauge music articles (yet) and judging by the activity of Ricardo Arjona's pages, I don't think it would get the attention of any editors since Arjona is not that well-known outside Hispanophone area. So far, you have been like the only contributor to the Arjona articles, so I don't see how it could be active. Now let you give YOU a "crazy idea". How would like you to learned to make a "Did You Know" (DYK) contribution? Erick (talk) 22:35, 3 June 2012 (UTC)
Do you need help on "Did You Know" (DYK) contributions? I didn't understood very well =( --Hahc21 [TALK][CONTRIBS] 22:44, 3 June 2012 (UTC)
I meant, how would you like to learn how to make a DYK so that it can be featured on the main page of Wikipedia? Erick (talk) 22:53, 3 June 2012 (UTC)
Well, all i know is that you must have created or substantially expanded the article and then nominate it for DYK. I don't know nothing else but i would like to have some DYKs featured on the main page... --Hahc21 [TALK][CONTRIBS] 22:57, 3 June 2012 (UTC)
All the rules can be found here, but if you want examples, check out my friend Jaespinoza's user page, he has a bunch of them, and I'm not exaggerating here. I have very few myself on my userpage. Erick (talk) 23:02, 3 June 2012 (UTC)

Thanks man! It was okay, Mexico didn't turn out okay, Belize is a terrible place, and Honduran island of Roatan was amazing. Right now, I'm browsing for singles chart from Latin America using news sources and I think I found some, so I'm looking the sites methodology. Who knows? It might come useful for J Lo's songs especially her Spanish songs. Erick (talk) 02:26, 21 June 2012 (UTC)
Haha, oh fun! Great! Hoping to get Qué Hiciste done soon. So then it can be nominated alongside Me Haces Falta and No Me Ames, which needs a background section. In the next few days, I'm gonna try to get together a nice paragraph or two about how her music career came to friction. Statυs (talk) 02:43, 21 June 2012 (UTC)

RE: Latin music article inclusion opinion?

In general it is OK, but I think that "Spanish" is generic, considering that you added "Brazil only" in Portuguese: "Albums that contains at least least [sic] 50% content in Spanish or Portuguese (Brazil only)." With Spanish, do you refer to any album/song in Spanish? Because it includes Spain, Philippines, some African countries, and some other regions, and people who speaks non-Spanish languages and released something in Spanish, like "Si Yo Fuera Un Chico" or "Manos al Aire". Also, what would happen if I, "Latin American artist", release an album completely in English, or, if I (either Latin American or international artist) release an album in other language (e.g. French) under Warner Music México label, will they be included or not? Tbhotch. Grammatically incorrect? Correct it! See terms and conditions. 17:26, 19 June 2012 (UTC)

Sorry for not replying you before, I had no internet. Ignoring that some people consider About.com as an unreliable source, those aspects are important to know and detail them, and if possible define what "Latin Europe" means, because of Latin Europe and Romance-speaking Europe may be confused and/or included. Tbhotch. Grammatically incorrect? Correct it! See terms and conditions. 19:46, 30 June 2012 (UTC)
Indeed. I took Quintana's definition of Latin music and a Latin artist and used it as a basis for the inclusion criteria. I'll look into the Latin Europe as well, but it shouldn't be too much of a problem now that it's all cleared up. Erick (talk) 03:28, 1 July 2012 (UTC)

Sentimiento or Musa?

I replied to my talk page, but I don't know if you are watching it, so I was thinking about Sentimiento or Musa. But since Musa has not been released yet, I was thinking about Sentimiento. What do you think? Thank you! -- DivaKnockouts (talk) 00:36, 20 June 2012 (UTC)

Sure no problem. I do some quick fixes on the article too. In the meantime, you can request the article to be assessed to get a rating as it's definitely not a stub at this point. Erick (talk) 16:19, 27 June 2012 (UTC)

Good Topic

Hey I need only one more article (Amor Prohibido) in order to nominate the entire topic to WP:Good topics! Wouldn't that be the first Latin music GA topic? Best, Jonayo! Selena 4 ever 23:03, 27 June 2012 (UTC)

Are you a mind-reader or something? I was just going to ask you the same thing! 0_o Erick (talk) 23:06, 27 June 2012 (UTC)
LOLZ no, I was aiming for a GT after I had several of the singles GA-ed but now that its only one more article I am so happy :) BTW I was looking at the archives of WP:Latin music talk page and found the "status updates" interesting, do you plan on doing a monthly newsletter for WP:Latin music? Best, Jonayo! Selena 4 ever 23:31, 27 June 2012 (UTC)
Haha well, at that time the task force wasn't as active it's getting now thanks to our articles getting attention so I might bring it back. We need an invitation template for the task force too. I've always wanted to give everyone together to use the Latin music task force so that we can coordinate plans as I've said earlier and of them was to help get the portal for Latin music a featured topic after everyone was finishing doing whatever they're doing. I have to admit, I was not prepared for the idea of getting Latin music featured article so I'm quite shocked, but looking at the article now, it's a stub even though that's what the task force focuses on. We're going to need a lot of manpower for this so in addition to getting our task force, we'll have to get outside help too from such as WikiProjects related to every Latin country to get their part of contribution and the WikiProject Music itself. I mean a country like Mexico is easy because I know of their popular genres but something like Paraguay will require extra research since I don't even know one artist from their. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Magiciandude (talkcontribs)
Well I don't mind helping out with that stuff so its not like you're going to be alone on that part. I was just thinking about an invitation template as well and go to all related articles and spam their pages lolz let me stop but yeah something like what you did is fine. Well I wanted to do a big project with everyone - that's what I love to do, so since we have active members, why not do one of our top priorities? Plus, it's not like a single purpose, its a wide scope that everyone will like, I can do some work on Tejano and Latin pop, you can work on the section for Puerto Rico, and so on and so forth, so its like everyone is working on something they enjoy improving on a daily basis. But maybe I should have came to you for ideas on a project task, maybe we can do a monthly thing and we all can come up with good ideas which will help the project be more user-friendly :D BTW don't you ever sign your posts? LOLZ Jonayo! Selena 4 ever 23:51, 27 June 2012 (UTC)
Indeed. I think the best way to get attention is post somewhere in Wikipedia where collaboration notices are posted. Besides the music of each country and region, there's also the history of Latin music beginning with the indigenous to when the Europeans came and up to till now. What's common in Latin music which would languages, and the popular genres (Latin pop, salsa, cumbia, and reggaeton are listened to all over Latin America). My God, I'm trying to calm down, I get intimated easily, but as you say, when we break it down to parts and everyone do a specific section, it won't be so hard. Let's see what happens. Erick (talk) 00:09, 28 June 2012 (UTC)
But your making it seem like the article is too complicated for us to do it? I like the idea of going to country-related projects but not outside projects. BTW do you think Poquita Ropa is GA ready? (I'm the reviewer) I just want to have someone else give me feedback. Best, Jonayo! Selena 4 ever 02:22, 28 June 2012 (UTC)

Here are some examples of how outside projects can be of help. We could ask Wikipedia:WikiProject Indigenous peoples of the Americas to help out for the music of the indigenous people. Wikipedia:WikiProject African diaspora for when the slaves were brought to Latin America and took their music with them that formed various genres. I also need to know if the countries listed in the article are actually part of Latin America. About.com's guide to Latin music is probably the way to see what defines Latin music. Erick (talk) 02:53, 28 June 2012 (UTC)

Jona, have you considered to create "Ya no"? Considering that Dulce María covered the song, and it may charted the Mexican Airplay Chart, it passes WP:NSONGS now. If you've found information about Amor Prohibido, you may improve it well. Tbhotch. Grammatically incorrect? Correct it! See terms and conditions. 19:52, 30 June 2012 (UTC)
Yes I have, but I the song did not peak on any charts, even Dulce Maria which is odd since she released a music video on it and it has almost 10 million views. I tried billboard.biz but no luck. Best, Jonayo! Selena 4 ever 17:48, 5 July 2012 (UTC)

No Me Ames

Watching J.Lo's Feelin' So Good DVD and she states the video for "No Me Ames" was filmed the day after "If You Had My Love" was. She also describes how the duet came about. This is great: It came to be because I was recording in the studio and Marc Anthony happened to be recording in the studio also and he came over to specifically asked me to do this video with him, which was one of his salsa songs. And he said "Would you do this video with me?" and I said "Okay, but you have to do a song on my album." And he said "Absoultely". So at that time I called Tommy and I'm like "Look, so Marc Anthony said he would do a song and I really don't want to do a duet with just anybody, I want to do a duet with him. So can you force him to sign something, so he has to do a record with me? If I do this video!" And Tommy's like "I'll take of it, I'll talk to him." I did his video and then after that we recorded the song. He said he had an idea for this song, this old Italian song - he wanted to translate it. While we were recording the song, I came up with the concept for the video. And I asked him if he liked it. And I actually explained it to Tommy and him at the same time another day in the studio after the song was recorded and they both loved it. Statυs (talk) 22:05, 3 July 2012 (UTC)

Marc: "We are talking about one of my best friends, you know. And I'm so proud of her, and I love the album. She's so cute. She was like "I'm number one, what does that mean?" And I'm like "Shut up" Statυs (talk) 22:09, 3 July 2012 (UTC)
That is indeed very useful and adds a ton of information we were missing and I think that inclusion, that should be it with the article. BTW, I just happened to come across the Venezuelan archive chart from 2007 so I can now see if any of J Lo's songs charted there. Erick (talk) 22:46, 3 July 2012 (UTC)
Sounds good to me. I will add it into the article at a later time. Finishing up Jennifer Lopez: Feelin' So Good right now. Was basically forced into doing it, since some user claimed it wasn't notable. Now it's almost at 30 bytes. Hmm. Statυs (talk) 22:53, 3 July 2012 (UTC)
Yeah a quick check brought nothing on her songs in 2007. As for the AfD, really? The nominator didn't bother checking to see if reliable sources exist? >_> Erick (talk) 23:05, 3 July 2012 (UTC)
Haha, yes. That user is the one who nominated Personal life for deletion, and now has nominated an additional 10 articles that I created/contributed to. Statυs (talk) 23:12, 3 July 2012 (UTC)
Well I can maybe understand like personal life and stuff like that. But album and videos done by notable artists? Heck no. You know, I'm always up for collab if there's a Anthony and J-Lo related article. Like I had this idea for a while to create an article for "No Me Conoces" (the song charted) or the godawful move "El Cantante" or it's soundtrack. I'm finished with Anthony's RMM albums, so I'll be working on his album chronologically. Erick (talk) 23:16, 3 July 2012 (UTC)
Haha, well once we finally get "No Me Ames" to GA. Marc produced Como Ama una Mujer, so he is technically involved in that also. It could easily even become a good topic. "Me Haces Falta" is already done, "Qué Hiciste" and the album article require a little bit of expansion. Oh shit... but then there's the mini series. Forgot about that. Maybe Hahc can do that, as he is fluent in Spanish. I don't expect many sources in English on that. Statυs (talk) 23:29, 3 July 2012 (UTC)
I have no experience whatsoever with articles on TV series, so yeah screw that lol. So from the article of Como Ama una Mujer, it was done by the same team that did Anthony's album Amar Sin Mentiras huh? That explains alot on the quality. EDIT: Oh yeah, and I added year-end Latin charts for the album. Erick (talk) 23:38, 3 July 2012 (UTC)

Just pasting this here, as I don't know where to place it (if it's needed at all):

  • The song helped Baldi receive an award at the Sanremo Music Festival for Best Young Artist.[1]
  • "Non Amarmi" was issued as a single in 1992 and peaked atop of the charts in Italy.[2][3]
  • The Spanish version of the song was first recorded by Mexican singer Yuri and her husband Rodrigo Espinoza with different lyrics titled "Hoy Que Estamos Juntos" ("Now That We're Together") on her album Huellas (1997).[4][5]
  • "No Me Ames" is a latin pop song, composed in Eb Major.[6]

Statυs (talk) 08:44, 5 July 2012 (UTC)

Well we definitely need to put the success of the original song somewhere in the article probably under the background. The eb Major part can go under the production section. The background doesn't look like it fits in the song article and looks more appropriate for either the biography or album article. Erick (talk) 17:10, 5 July 2012 (UTC)
Background is the shit that happens before a song is produced. It is directly related to this song in particular, since it's basically the album's lead single in the Spanish sense. As for the above, I really don't know how to put it in. I'm unsure about the other Spanish version, as according to Lopez, Anthony got someone to translate the original song into Spanish for them. Statυs (talk) 21:26, 7 July 2012 (UTC)
How about a composition, a music lyric, or a similar section for it? Erick (talk) 01:41, 8 July 2012 (UTC)

Do you think enough info could be found for a composition section? Statυs (talk) 06:34, 8 July 2012 (UTC)

I readded the information and put them under a composition section. How does it look? Erick (talk) 06:42, 8 July 2012 (UTC)

Newsletter draft

Hey what do you think about this? thoughts? suggestions? Best, Jonayo! Selena 4 ever 18:55, 6 July 2012 (UTC)

I don't like it.....I love it! That's a great idea and here's some more ideas. We should include charts from Latin American countries as well and I can list and link each of them in the talk page if you like. I don't think we need to list every #1 album of the month. We could also list important Latin music news such as the Latin Grammies nomination finalists or major artist news. BTW, I've been updating the portal and sometime late this year or next year, I want to make it a featured portal. The Australian music portal is a best example I've been following since it's FT. Erick (talk) 19:38, 6 July 2012 (UTC)

Sounds like a good idea. I've listed the Latin American charts on the talk page for it. Since it's going to be a monthly newsletter, I'm thinking of linking the monthly charts if it is available. Hey what do you think? I just started the lead, so that version may change as I'm not sure how critics reviewed other artists' covers. Other than that, I think this project will take me some time to do as I know that there are many covers, though sadly none charted and no certifications...well I haven't checked RIAA but I did search billboard.biz and found only Selena's cover :( Best, Jonayo! Selena 4 ever 14:12, 12 July 2012 (UTC)

You didn't respond :( lolz btw I'm about to expand the article but should I start if off with Pedro or is it ok if I start if off with Selena? Best, Jonatalk to me 03:22, 26 July 2012 (UTC)
Oh I'm so sorry! =( Ever since the Latin music became a project, I've been diverting my focus on the project scope and removing articles that don't belong there so I apologize for that. Anyways, you should begin with Pedro Infante. Or you can just do what Status and I did with No Me Ames. Basically it just boils down to how well known and successful Infante's original recording was. I can do a quick check. BTW, how do you like the new WikiProject Latin music? I think the front page looks professional and informative if I do so say so myself. =) Erick (talk) 03:26, 26 July 2012 (UTC)
Yea about that discussion...it seems as though only two members out of 34 really discussed the closer of the former WP, but I agree with Hahc21's comment about our project being more active. I was too busy with Simple Wikipedia so I didn't get to add my opinions which is okay, I'm glad that its now a WP :D I like the way it looks though the picture of a globe highlighting our scope is not really attractive, maybe we could come up with a better picture of what our scope is truly about, Latin music. IDK that's my opinion lolz. Well I can't even find which film Pedro originally sang the song in :/ Selena's version seems to be more popular since it peaked at number one on two Billboard charts. But like I said it's not the final version since I just begun editing. Whoa! "The artist performs in Spanish or Portuguese" what?!?! what about Galician, Basque, Catalan, and all the other Spanish dialects spoken in Spain? Though "and occasionally other Romance-speaking European countries such as Italy." tells me that all other Spanish dialects are included but why say "occasionally"? Does this mean that a Galician song is only included for a day? lolz you get where I'm coming from? Best, Jonatalk to me 03:41, 26 July 2012 (UTC)
I'm following what the Latin Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences requires for a recording to be eligible for a Latin Grammy award and artists from Spain & Portugal are included in the project scope. This can be attested in this article and this article. By occasionally, I'm referring to artists who are from non Hispanophone and non Lusophone Romance-speaking European countries that performs in Spanish or Portuguese and a Latin genre. Using Italy as an example, theses include artists like Laura Pausini and Tiziano Ferro because they perform in Spanish and as one of their languages and in Latin pop. They both have received nods from the Latin Grammy awards. Then there's the famous Gipsy Kings. They originate from France which is a Romance-speaking country (aka Latin Europe), who performs in Spanish and a Latin genre. As for Tu Solo Tu, I already found some useful which I'll post the article talk page and let me say that Google Books is your best friend when it comes to very old music. Erick (talk) 04:13, 26 July 2012 (UTC)
What about Galician singer Manu Chao? Does he fall in the scope? I see he performs salsa which I have to say never heard a Spanish singer singing salsa lolz. Yea I know but I didn't get into it that much but if you found it great! Best, Jonatalk to me 04:41, 26 July 2012 (UTC)
Lolz never mind you tagged him already :D Best, Jonatalk to me 04:43, 26 July 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, well you saw. :) Anyways, I hope that makes the inclusion scope a lot easier to understand. I posted a bit of information for Tu Solo Tu on its talk page. Erick (talk) 04:57, 26 July 2012 (UTC)

Latin Areschart

This information may be the key for the chart to be a good chart:

The first link shows how the chart is compiled, and For God's Sake, it mentions Monitec, Record R., National R. and Nielsen Soundscan! o.0. The second link gives the archived charts from 2008 to date. So, if accepted, we don't need to archive the weekly charts, since the website stores them. I asked at WT:Record charts to see what the ppl think. Cheers! —Hahc21 23:33, 15 July 2012 (UTC)

Wikiproject

Great we finally are a WP of our own. If you need any help, just ask me :) —Hahc21 01:31, 24 July 2012 (UTC)

Great! I was just about to ask you about the technical stuff, like creating a new banner for the WikiProject and a project invite template. I'm in the middle of constructing of the main page itself so feel free to lend a help! I would really appreciate it! =D Erick (talk) 01:34, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
Need your help here. I don't know how to include the importance assessment. Erick (talk) 02:04, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
On it. I can develop the main page for you, as i did with my Ricardo Arjona WikiProject. Cheers! —Hahc21 02:08, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
Thank you very much! I don't know how to thank you enough! =') Erick (talk) 02:11, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
Way better: User:Magiciandude/Latinproject2. Sorry for writing it at your userspace... —Hahc21 02:12, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
I am totally involved in this WikiProject as you are :) Cheers! —Hahc21 02:12, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
That's great! I'll have a bot request to tag the WikiProjects with the banner and replace the old one. If it's not too much to ask, could you ask create an invitation template and maybe even an advertisement? Again thanks alot hermano! =) Erick (talk) 02:24, 24 July 2012 (UTC)

I've created the template page here. I gotta admit, it feels great! =) Erick (talk) 02:38, 24 July 2012 (UTC)

I am developing the main page of the wikiproject. It feels amazing :) —Hahc21 02:48, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
I've just did a bot request to do the WikiProject tagging. Gotta update the member list template next. Erick (talk) 02:56, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
Look: Wikipedia:WikiProject Latin music/Draft. I'm not finished but it's almost done :) —Hahc21 03:02, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
Holy ****, that's amazing! =D Do you mind if you poke around to some changes as well? Erick (talk) 03:04, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
Which changes? Just tell me what you want added/removed and i'll do it :) —Hahc21 03:08, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
Like using the new banner instead of the old. I want to change the scope to help make the inclusion section more easier to read. I thought of including the geographical places from Carlos Quintana's article on maybe the introduction. Also I think the resources should include links like to Latin music chartsand certifications. Erick (talk) 03:19, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
Great. Let me finish the draft and then make modifications :) —Hahc21 03:34, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
Alright, sounds good. :) Erick (talk) 03:44, 24 July 2012 (UTC)

I think i'm done. Now tell me what is going to be modified to do it. :) —Hahc21 03:53, 24 July 2012 (UTC)

Changed past banner with new one. —Hahc21 03:57, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
Alright see if there's any way to include the geographic countries included in the project based on the list. In addition add that it includes Latin music in the United States and Latin European countries. For the resources, add the charts and certifications from Latin America, US, and Europe where relevant. Maybe rename "Inclusion" to "Scope" and can I edit the section to make it easier to read? Erick (talk) 04:12, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
Yup, just edit this: Wikipedia:WikiProject Latin music/Left. —Hahc21 04:14, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
Hey, may I move the draft to the main page? I think you can continue editing from it. Regards. —Hahc21 04:35, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
I'm still process of editing it. Erick (talk) 04:36, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
Well actually i can move it and it won't affect your editing, since you are editing other pages that are incubated into it :) —Hahc21 04:40, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
Oh okay, that's fine then. :) Erick (talk) 04:41, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
Okay, i think you are editiong Wikipedia:WikiProject Latin music right? If you are editing that page, i can't perform the move until you are done. —Hahc21 04:49, 24 July 2012 (UTC)

Yep and I just finished it. Tell me how you like the inclusion and make any changes you see fit. You can move it now. Erick (talk) 04:53, 24 July 2012 (UTC)

Moved. Also, i developed this: {{Latin music}} (the banner). Go check it and tell me what you think. —Hahc21 05:02, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
Whoops, I created one too. My bad. Erick (talk) 05:04, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
Merged and redirected to yours XD. Cheers! —Hahc21 05:07, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
Hey i'm about to create the missing categories. I can? or I can't? —Hahc21 05:09, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
I dunno. I tagged the category Category:Latin American music articles for a category speedy rename. I think that category just needs a name as well as it's subcategory. Erick (talk) 05:12, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
Well, the template says "create", so I'll take care of it :) —Hahc21 05:14, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
Wait, I meant this one. Erick (talk) 05:16, 24 July 2012 (UTC)

Hey i can use AWB to move all articles from that category to the new one :), so that we don't need to rename all subcategories, and i have created them all, so the admin would have to delete-move and it will be tedious. —Hahc21 05:21, 24 July 2012 (UTC)

Oh okay, could you do that then please? Erick (talk) 05:23, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
Yup. There are more than 9,000 articles so it will take a while :) but i can do it. Also, you can go and ask a bot if you like. —Hahc21 05:26, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
Thanks man! I'm counting on you. Once you're done moving categories, I'll request a bot to do the tagging and assessments. Erick (talk) 05:30, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
Well, actually i'm renaming the template {{WikiProject Latin America}} to {{WikiProject Latin music}} on articles on which music=yes appears within the template. I don't know how much they are but may be up to 5,000. I think we won't need assessment since they will stay with the prior assessment. —Hahc21 05:32, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
Oh gotcha! So that's how the AWB would work. Man your edit count is going to go up the roof! XD As long as the assessments remain, it should be fine. Erick (talk) 05:37, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
Haha yup. My edit count will jump 4,500 edits in 1 week (i believe it would take 1 week for me to finish it). And yup, asessment and importance will stay :) —Hahc21 05:40, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
Well, i have moved 200 articles now. I'm sleepy so i'm gonna sleep. I will continue tomorrow. Cheers! —Hahc21 05:52, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
Thanks again! Only thing that needs fixing is that the categories are hidden when tagged with the Latin music, but today should be enough for now. :) Erick (talk) 05:54, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
Actually I already took care of it. They are hidden. Cheers! —Hahc21 05:58, 24 July 2012 (UTC)

They aren't supposed to be hidden is what I was saying, since they're displayed at the talk pages. It's alright, I can wait. :) Anyways, thanks again! Erick (talk) 06:26, 24 July 2012 (UTC)

I've worked on the categories to ensure that the categories show up on the talk pages. Hopefully, the bot request is accepted so that the work will be done quicker. Erick (talk) 08:57, 24 July 2012 (UTC)

I'm confused why you removed this page from WP:WikiProject Caribbean. It's categorized in Category:Haitian musicians and Category:People from Cap-Haïtien, both of which fall within the scope of the project, i.e., they are subcategories of Category:Haiti. --Robert.Allen (talk) 22:13, 25 July 2012 (UTC)

I didn't remove the page from WikiProject Caribbean. I removed the page from the Latin music project because the person does not fall within the scope for the project. Erick (talk) 22:15, 25 July 2012 (UTC)
Yes, sorry, my mistake. I see now. I was definitely confused! --Robert.Allen (talk) 22:30, 25 July 2012 (UTC)

Hey. Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. Yeah, I think it's ready. Statυs (talk) 02:36, 26 July 2012 (UTC)

Alright, let's do it! =) Erick (talk) 02:37, 26 July 2012 (UTC)

Hey, i created a sandbox with the structure i consider would be best for the main article. What about if we start writing it? Regards. —Hahc21 02:20, 27 July 2012 (UTC)

Haha yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking on how the article should be written as well. I do note that there's probably a difference between Latin music as a popular genre and then there's Latin American as a geographical music. This is especially true with Latin pop. Notice how even that articles mentions the music is beyond Latin America. Yesterday and the day before, I spent an entire removing articles from the Latin music. Mostly articles that contain Latin American countries that did not either speak Spanish or Portuguese and Hispanic musicians in the United States that did not perform in Spanish. Today, I've been tagging musicians that did fall under the scope mostly Latin pop singers from Spain. So, how do you like the revised scope and guidelines I wrote on the project page? Erick (talk) 02:30, 27 July 2012 (UTC)
I like them. I have been taggin more articles today. I have tagged 500 or so by now. Well, now we have to write it out and finish it for FAC hehe XD I think it would be great when finished. —Hahc21 02:47, 27 July 2012 (UTC)
Yes, though it will be a gradual process. I have a lot of articles I still want to work on and late next month I will be back to college which will diminish my activity in Wikipedia. Erick (talk) 02:51, 27 July 2012 (UTC)

Independiente

Hey! Could you give me the mirror link to add the chart from Argentina? You didn't wrote it on the FAC page. Regards. —Hahc21 23:06, 31 July 2012 (UTC)

Sure, here. The week it peaked at #1 is on 09/10/2011 (October 9, 2011). On the year-end charts, it was the third-best selling album of the year. Erick (talk) 04:11, 1 August 2012 (UTC)
Wow great! Sorry for the late response, i was on vacations. Regards! — ΛΧΣ21 04:40, 14 August 2012 (UTC)
NTW I kew that site existed and even added it to {{albumchart}}. I dunno how the hell i just missed it. Please, if you find someone who can copyedit the article at FA standard or if you can do it yourself, I will be forever grateful. Thanks. — ΛΧΣ21 04:42, 14 August 2012 (UTC)

Lists of number-one Billboard Tropical Albums

I would love to help out! I'm sure I could do some magic to those tables. ;) Statυs (talk) 04:42, 1 August 2012 (UTC)

R-r-eally?!? I honestly did not expect to hear that from you! So you can imagine surprised I am. LOL, I mean, I only just wanted to create albums that reached #1 on that chart and the idea of a doing FLs was just a possibility. Honestly, if I ever were to do a FL, it would have been a discography for guess who. But yeah I would definitely love to work with you on the lists. At the same time though, I would actually like to start with the Latin Pop Albums if that's alright with you. I already created a list for each decade of #1 Latin Pop Albums. In fact, the List of number-one Billboard Latin Pop Albums from the 1980s was going to be my first FL. And just out of curiosity, what made you interested? Erick (talk) 05:25, 1 August 2012 (UTC)
That's alright with me. I happened to come across your interest in doing them on your talk page. Quite frankly, I like doing lists. I happen to have a few of my own, with one currently pending. The lead on List of number-one Billboard Latin Pop Albums from the 1980s looks great; the table, though, could use some work; and that's where I would come in. ;) Statυs (talk) 06:19, 2 August 2012 (UTC)
That would be great. I have very little experience with lists so I could definitely use your help and suggestions. Erick (talk) 00:48, 4 August 2012 (UTC)

Braulio album renames

Hi Magiciandude. I think I've shifted all of the articles you wanted moving to their correct destinations, but if I've missed any then do let me know. Cheers, Yunshui  10:13, 1 August 2012 (UTC)

Thank you very much. I still have articles that need to be moved since I made a terrible mistake of mass moving articles to the wrong destinations last year. Cheers! Erick (talk) 20:22, 1 August 2012 (UTC)

Music samples

Hey! I just started learning how to add music samples to articles, but I recently realized that I have been uploading samples with too-high bit rates. I tried to upload a lower quality version of "Calma Pueblo" to Entren Los Que Quieran, but I ended up doing it wrong and now it says that it might contain "malicious code" O_o Do you have any idea what I did wrong? lol thanks, Basilisk4u (talk) 16:35, 1 August 2012 (UTC)

Describe the method you did to make the music samples so I can see what happened. Also the sample for "Muerte en Hawaii" is too long. Per Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Music samples, you may only use 10% of the original song. Erick (talk) 19:42, 1 August 2012 (UTC)
Oh yeah haha that would be helpful for me to explain. I use audio.online-convert for samples, and it has always worked when I didn't change the bit rate thing. And I will definitely add a shorter sample of "Muerte en Hawaii". Basilisk4u (talk) 23:56, 1 August 2012 (UTC)
Hmm, well I always use Audacity and don't usually trust online converters as they tend to screw up easy. Try downloading Audacity and an Ogg Vorbis extension for the software and follow the instructions on the MOS. Let me know if anything else comes up. Erick (talk) 00:41, 2 August 2012 (UTC)

Really want to get both "Qué Hiciste" and "Me Haces Falta" to GA soon. Do you think you can do the chart performance for "Qué Hiciste"? I'm no good at that stuff; I can do the rest. Statυs (talk) 06:58, 8 August 2012 (UTC)

Of course! I will also look for any awards or nominations. 23:41, 9 August 2012 (UTC)

"En Que Fallamos"

Hello! I hope all of your current plans on Wikipedia are going good, and if there is anything that could use a little help, let me know! I was wondering if you could also add a sound sample of "En Que Fallamos" to the article Sentimiento. Thanks, I would great appreciate it. -- DivaKnockouts (talk) 23:49, 8 August 2012 (UTC)

No problem! Right now everything is fine but as always, great job on the articles you're working on. Perhaps we might a future collaboration. Erick (talk) 23:41, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
Thank you! And a future collab would be awesome! -- DivaKnockouts (talk) 00:32, 10 August 2012 (UTC)
Looking at your user page, I like "Te Regalo Amores" by RKM & Ken-Y, for Tito el Bambino I like his recent songs ("Ay Amor", "El Amor", "Mi Cama Huele a Ti", "Te Pido Perdon", "Llueve el Amor", "Me Enamoré"). For Aventura, my favorites are "Un Beso", "Mi Corazoncito", "El Perdedor", "Por un Segundo", "Su Veneno", "Dile al Amor", and "El Malo". As for Romeo Santos, only song I really like so far is "Promise". Daddy Yankee is probably the only reggeaton artist I can say really like. "Lo Que Paso, Paso", "Rompe", "Ella Me Levanto", "Que Tengo Que Hacer", and "La Despedida". Also like "Ven Conmigo" and "Lovumba", but the album for isn't out for it. So out of all the songs, want to do a future collab on any of them? Erick (talk) 01:03, 10 August 2012 (UTC)

Suggestion for Latin Music Wikiproject

Hey! I hope everything is going well. I was wondering if somehow we could make a to-do list of Latin music articles that might need attention/collaborations so the project could work together on them? There are a lot of articles that I think would be important for the project that would be great for members to collaborate on. Thanks! Basilisk4u (talk) 21:15, 14 August 2012 (UTC)

Fulanito, image use

Good evening Magiciandude,

I'm responding to a message you sent me regarding the image I had uploaded to the article Fulanito. I was under the impression that I was following guidelines when post an image that belongs to a particular CD cover, so as I was uploading it, I checked what I thought were the appropriate boxes. I would like to have that image reapplied. I will work on the image size, but would like to know how and what can I replace the image with?

As I just read that you are involved with the Latin music scene here on Wikipedia, I would also like to invite you review and place the Fulanito page on your watchlist. It has been the topic of an edit war between myself and the artist' former partner. Being that I have close relation to the artist (I am Fulanito's manager), I understand that it can pose a conflict of interest on the article, and i prefer not to engage in an edit war. However, I will stay on top of the article to help ensure that it does not get vandalized with misleading information. I thank you for your insight on the image issue, and most definitely welcome your suggestions in keeping my input as fair as possible.--*** Verdugo27***talk 01:06, 16 August 2012 (UTC)

A-Class for Ricardo Arjona

Hey. I'm interested in making Ricardo Arjona reach A-class level, apart from being a good article. How shall I proceed? I know this may be made through the Latin music WikiProject, but which other users will assess the article and where do I write the request? At the talk page of the project? the article? or both? Thanks and Cheers! — ΛΧΣ21 04:15, 26 August 2012 (UTC)

I honestly do not know anything about A-class articles, but your best bet is Wikipedia:WikiProject Biography/Assessment or to ask the WikiProject Biography itself. The project does cover A-class so they should be able to tell what you have to do. Erick (talk) 04:24, 26 August 2012 (UTC)
I have read the aseessment page and they only rate article up to B class, and I don't know how to properly ask a higher assessment jeje. What if I request it on the WP Latin music talk page? — ΛΧΣ21 15:02, 27 August 2012 (UTC)

Sure! I'd love to, It doesn't matter which we do, but I say we do the album, and then maybe later the singles. :) What about you? DivaKnockouts (talk) 22:57, 4 September 2012 (UTC)

Ok! That sounds good! I'll go ahead and create the article for "Si Tu Me Besas". Kay :) DivaKnockouts (talk) 23:17, 4 September 2012 (UTC)
Alright, I'll get started now. DivaKnockouts (talk) 00:09, 5 September 2012 (UTC)

Ok, right away. Personally, "Ella Lo Que Quiere Es Salsa" is better than the first single. Your idea? :) DivaKnockouts (talk) 03:39, 6 September 2012 (UTC)

That is fine with me, I love Tito "El Bambino" so this should be fun! I really don't listen to salsa that much, just like the salsa remixes of popular reggaeton songs (example "Soy Igual Que Tu" or "Mi Cama Huele A Ti").
That should be okay. I've uploaded the file cover art for "Ella Lo Que Quiere Es Salsa", and I'm going on from there. DivaKnockouts (talk) 04:41, 6 September 2012 (UTC)

I love it! Great Job! It looks awesome! DivaKnockouts (talk) 19:02, 9 September 2012 (UTC)

Hi Magiciandude! I reviewed your DYK submission. I noticed that you have 5 DYK credits, I just wanted you to be aware that nominators with more than 5 DYK credits need to review another submission before nominating their own (DYK rules), so you will to do that in the future. Is this picture real?

Hey I was on a fanchat site for Selena and this one user told everyone that Humberto Gatica (producer for Enamorada de Ti) was given a gold (Latin) certification by the RIAA. I replied telling her that I checked the site and there's no way the album reached gold status, but then she uploaded a picture that Gatica added on his facebook. I looked at the picture and read that it indeed came from RIAA but what's startling is that RIAA gave out this award for "sales of 50,000 copies" when I know they only specialize in shipments, not sales. Does this look fishy to you? Best, Jonatalk to me 12:51, 3 October 2012 (UTC)

Probably the RIAA website has not yet updated. It looks legitimate alright, but sometimes it takes a while before it appears on the search. Erick (talk) 15:01, 3 October 2012 (UTC)
Hmm but you added a cert for Prince Royce's album not too long ago and that album was released 2-3 weeks after Enamorada de Ti. But what's startling is the "sales of 50,000 copies" statement but I will add it just gonna wait until RIAA updates their site. Thanks for replying, Jonatalk to me 20:38, 3 October 2012 (UTC)

That sounds allrite to me! I'll start to fix it up now . DivaKnockouts (talk) 21:25, 3 October 2012 (UTC)

I've gone ahead and done that, next I'm just trying to find all the basic information. DivaKnockouts (talk) 23:11, 3 October 2012 (UTC)
Its alrite bro, just whenever you can, I've added a sound sample on the the regular page, and yes I know how it is, school can be hard on me too, and I hardly ever have time on here, but btw what are you going to college to be?
Oh really? I've always been interested in Graphic Design. What year of college are you in?

That is fine. What was the DYK nomination? I bet it is awesome!! Link me it? :P I totally understand, I mean college is more important, and the article looks great. 100x better than it did before.DivaKnockouts (talk) 05:37, 24 November 2012 (UTC)

They all look great! However, the two ALT hooks seem more interesting to me :) And Aw you did? Thank you so much Erick! I didn't get to see it on the main page :/ DivaKnockouts (talk) 05:42, 24 November 2012 (UTC)
I also noticed you fixed some things and the charts on "Te Regalo Amores", I'd like to thank you for those edits as well :) And I see you removed the WikiProject Latin America banner from "En Que Fallamos", is it just not needed in any song articles? DivaKnockouts (talk) 06:03, 24 November 2012 (UTC)
Ahh, okay I see. And yes, I've noticed some articles like that. But you just move the article to the correct capitalization right, because that wouldn't be controversial. DivaKnockouts (talk) 06:12, 24 November 2012 (UTC)
Hehe, I thought so. I'll be sure to keep a look out for any articles. I have to really thank you. You are the reason why I've been getting better here on Wikipedia. Thanks for all of your help, and I hope to work on more articles with you in the near future :) DivaKnockouts (talk) 06:19, 24 November 2012 (UTC)

FAC comment

Hey Erick would you mind leaving some comments? Thanks, Jonatalk to me 17:44, 8 October 2012 (UTC)

Hey Erick it's Sunday and I am hoping you can leave some comments before this nomination close soon. Best, Jonatalk to me 17:05, 21 October 2012 (UTC)
Sure thing, looking at it right now. Erick (talk) 17:08, 21 October 2012 (UTC)
Thanks bud. Jonatalk to me 17:09, 21 October 2012 (UTC)

I've been fixing up this article, and I noticed that the Billboard Latin Rhythm Airplay chart performance you added for "Peligro de Extinción" says that it charted at number 21 for the week of June 6, 2012. However, the song was released ten days later on June 19. Is it possible for a song to chart before it is even released? Just wondering. DivaKnockouts (talk) 03:06, 22 October 2012 (UTC)

Juan Luis Guerra

Hey Erick, the Juan Luis Guerra article is receiving a lot of feedbacks asking for updates. I think the article should be improve as one of the DR and Latin American best artist ever deserves. Would you like to work on it? Osplace 18:05, 26 October 2012 (UTC)

This is how the feedbacks looks like. Osplace 01:59, 16 December 2012 (UTC)

Hey

Independiente is again at FAC. It has received reviews from many users, but I guess you are missing. It's been a year since the release of the album and the tour is over, so I guess that this era is done. Also, the fourth single seems to be cancelled. I await your comments :) — ΛΧΣ21

Habitame Siempre Certifications

Check out this link : http://www.sonymusiclatin.com/ It is the official site of Sony Music Latin and it clearly states that the album is gold in both Mexico and the United States. It is definitely official, as long as it is confirmed by a huge record company. Amprofon and Riaa databases sometimes take a long time to be updated. After all, it hasn't even been a week since the album was released, so it wouldn't be possible to have exactly the number of shipments or the peak positions. But when a record company cofirms something through their site, IT IS official and verified information.

Mi Cama Huele a Ti

Hey Erick, do you still want to do Mi Cama Huele a Ti together? I know busy wit can be, whenever you have time we can do it :) DivaKnockouts (talk) 01:29, 29 November 2012 (UTC)

Okay, well when do you want to start? :) And thanks, I'll take your advice and redirect it, I was kind of confused, because the song was released after Drama Queen and before Musa but not featured on Musa. So I didn't know which article to re-direct it. I'll redirect it to Ivy Queen instead. DivaKnockouts (talk) 05:34, 29 November 2012 (UTC)

Entren los Que Quieran

Hey! Entren Los Que Quieran is being reviewed for GA and one of the concerns brought up by the reviewer was that the bitrates of the music files are too high. Unfortunately, I am terrible at dealing with music files, so could you possibly do me a huge favor and upload ones with lower bitrates? Thank you! Basilisk4u (talk) 19:52, 29 November 2012 (UTC)

Habitame Siempre's shipments ARE certified gold in US.

Excuse me, (Personal attack removed) Check this out : http://www.sonymusiclatin.com/ RIAA still haven't updated their database, but when a record company says an album is gold, IT IS gold. Please stop vandalizing articles, by removing information. It is not a forum here, grow up. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.74.102.222 (talk) 10:42, 30 November 2012 (UTC)

WP:PRIMARY applies, we cannot trust record labels or official websites because we cannot know if the sales and certifications are real or not, and the exaple above is the reason. @IP. Personal attacks are forbidden and "RIAA still haven't updated their database" is irrelevant, Sony is not the RIAA, and unless they update their data, the album still not certified. Tbhotch. Grammatically incorrect? Correct it! See terms and conditions. 19:27, 30 November 2012 (UTC)

The best to do is to create a WP:RSN section about this, or to ask to other users at talkpages like Talk:List of best-selling albums/Talk:List of best-selling singles, why and where the official sites were discussed and therefore they cannot be used as "reliable sources", or if there is a reason that PRIMARY does not apply. Tbhotch. Grammatically incorrect? Correct it! See terms and conditions. 04:30, 5 December 2012 (UTC)

Reik

Hi Erick! I am looking to expand Reik's page (and hopefully find a free picture of them to use) but I can't seem to find many reliable sources :( They are quite successful and I am surprised there are so few sources to use. Do you have any ideas where to look? Basilisk4u (talk) 01:39, 5 December 2012 (UTC)

Sadly, there are none on WikiCommons and I can't find any free Creative Commons of them on Flickr. I don't know anywhere else besides where you could find free pictures. Sorry. :( Erick (talk) 03:08, 5 December 2012 (UTC)

Mientras Tanto

I will make the article for that song. Are you making it already? if so, I'd like to know, to save work and give you a hand :) — ΛΧΣ21 03:02, 5 December 2012 (UTC)

Oh, I was just fixing the singles chronology. :P All I know is that it ranked #1 on the Latin Pop Song charts. I suppose the lists related to Arjona should be updated (the discography and awards). Erick (talk) 03:07, 5 December 2012 (UTC)
I will update it later. Rivera's death has me very sad. — ΛΧΣ21 23:45, 9 December 2012 (UTC)
Me too. I wasn't a big fan of her (I don't like banda music), but this has made me very sad as well. They were just presenting her Joyas Prestadas promotion on Univision today, and I thought her music in ballads was pretty good. I don't think I've seen anything this tragic to a Latin singer since Selena. My God, and to think I'm aviophobic. Hugs? Erick (talk) 23:50, 9 December 2012 (UTC)
Arjona has the Billboard's best selling latin pop album of 2012 :D — ΛΧΣ21 16:18, 14 December 2012 (UTC)
Way to spoil it for me. :P Well now, I guess Arjona shouldn't have any problems at the 2013 Billboard Latin Music Awards. Erick (talk) 18:26, 14 December 2012 (UTC)

Now you blame me for things I haven't done?

You must be a psycho, it can't be explained otherwise. You find an IP who edited two-three words in the Habitame Siempre article and you blame it to be my IP? Based on what??? I never logged out, and I never made these edits. Please stop disturbing me, I will have to report you if you continue to disturb me for no reason. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sailormoon94 (talkcontribs) 04:35, 11 December 2012 (UTC)

Madonnabe

Hola, Eric/Magiciandude.

The bright side of this phenomenon is that these Wanna Be's (as in "We wanna be like Madonna!") could be out somewhere stealing hubcaps. Instead, all of them, hundreds of thousands of young blossoms whose actual ages run from a low of about eight to a high of perhaps 25, are saving up their baby- sitting money to buy cross-shaped earrings and fluorescent rubber bracelets like Madonna's, white lace tights that they will cut off at the ankles and black tube skirts that, out of view of their parents, they will roll down several turns at the waist to expose their middles and the waistbands of the pantyhose.

Si no puedes o no quieres, no te preocupes. Saludos cordiales :). Chrishonduras (talk) 02:53, 13 December 2012 (UTC)
