Speedy deletion nomination of Can't Buy Me Like (Book)

[edit]

Hello Lyshaheen,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Can't Buy Me Like (Book) for deletion, because it seems to be an promotion, rather than an encyclopedia article.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks, Barney the barney barney (talk) 19:04, 5 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You might want to have a look at how you structure WP:LINKS. Generally Wikipedia prefers internal links to other articles in the wiki rather than directing them to outside websites, which you might be seen to be promoting. I have removed some of the daft links from Can't Buy Me Like (Book), but this needs to focus more on the reviews rather than content. And you need to add a fair use book cover. Thanks for the info. Will begin updating. Is there a way to take this off the speedy deletion list and into a draft section?

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on MEplusYOU, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Randykitty (talk) 18:17, 24 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'm a bit rushed for time, so it's a quick reply for now. PR stuff rather than encyclopaedic facts eg a strategic and creative agency that believes authentic relationships fuel astonishing brands. In today’s complex digitally and socially centered landscape, MEplusYOU’s purpose-driven formula activates paid, earned, shared and owned media to produce sales results., just spam. Also why does an encyclopedia article need to know about your campaigns and awards, but not profits, turnover, criticism or competitors. This should give you the gist, but let me know if you need more feedback, and I'll do it in the morning Jimfbleak - talk to me? 18:24, 25 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I can see why you feel aggrieved, the trouble is that if an article isn't tagged soon after it's created, it doesn't get picked up my an admin and survives by default. I looked at the articles you listed, and I've nominated a couple of the worse deletion discussion — they have been around too long for a speedy deletion. However, the fact that bad article have slipped through the net doesn't help you. OK. let's look in detail.

  • Examples of unsourced claims presented as fact include: importance of relationship building in marketing and a wider breadth of capabilities... believes authentic relationships fuel astonishing brands... strategic and creative agency... purpose-driven formula activates paid, earned, shared and owned media to produce sales results... It's PR stuff, not encyclopaedic fact.
  • nothing factual profits, turnover, criticism or competitors.
  • Many industry honors... numerous awards — say how many or leave out the weasel words
  • Don't link to commercial sales sites like Amazon, this isn't a platform to sell books
  • A list of clients and campaigns is unencyclopaedic and promotional. The list of leadership is harmless, but I'm not sure of the point since most of them don't have Wikipedia articles
  • "Services offerings" is just a spam section, setting out your wares

Some style things if you recreate

  • If you do a list, start each line with a * (like this bulleted list)
  • Headings follow normal capitalisation, don't cap every word
  • Instead of putting description <url> in your refs, use [url description], so it looks like this "Mashable." Mashable. N.p., n.d. Web. 24 Apr. 2013.
