Information icon Hello, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. This is just a note to let you know that I've moved the draft that you were working on to Draft:Ellison Hoover, from its old location at User:LynnMcRae/sandbox. This has been done because the Draft namespace is the preferred location for Articles for Creation submissions. Please feel free to continue to work on it there. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to ask me on my talk page. Thank you. -Liancetalk/contribs 21:36, 19 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ways to improve Herschel C. Logan

[edit]

Hello, LynnMcRae,

Thank you for creating Herschel C. Logan.

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

There are numerous unsourced statements, which require inline citations per WP:BURDEN.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Meena}}. Remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.

@Meena:
Thank you for the feedback as I am still relatively new. I see I didn't cite sources for basic biographical facts since they came from multiple placesin my overall source list. I will seek out other instances that appear missing (or that I relied on a single citation covering more than the immediate paragraph). Since I see no specific [citation needed] tags, do I understand the process is to address the issue, then remove the refimprove tag myself if I feel I have provided sufficient added citations, with my justification in Talk? or is there a more formal review process to invoke? Thank you for your guidance.

Hi, thank you for asking for help when you need it You need to ensure that every statement on the article has an inline citation to help meet WP:V. Or, if an entire paragraph is backed up by 1 source, then put that citation at the end of the paragraph. – Meena07:53, 2 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
{{Re|Meena}
One more followup/broader question, as I often look to other/similar articles for guidance. If I see an article like [J. J. Lankes], similar to mine (I actually link to it), which has sources but zero inline citations, would it be appropriate for me as a fairly novice contributor to add a refimprove tag? I so respect the roles of experienced Wikipedia editors and the enormity of the task and also understand it's largely volunteer driven. But I want to make sure my actions are appropriate and welcome. Thanks!

Speedy deletion nomination of Duane Raver

[edit]

Hello LynnMcRae,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Duane Raver for deletion, because it seems to be copied from another source, probably infringing copyright.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to rewrite it in your own words, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Duane Raver requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.dignitymemorial.com/obituaries/clayton-nc/duane-raver-10589730. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
