User talk:Lyndachica
Welcome!
[edit]Hello, Lyndachica, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.
I noticed that one of the first articles you created or edited appears to be an article about yourself. Creating an autobiography is a common mistake made by new Wikipedians—as this is an encyclopedia, we wouldn't expect to have an article about every contributor. Your user page, however, is a great place to write about yourself, making sure to stay within user page guidelines. Just click your user name at the top of the screen when you are logged in, and edit it normally.
The page you created about yourself may well be deleted from the encyclopedia. If it is deleted and you wish to retrieve its contents, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page. If your contributions to an existing article about yourself are undone and you wish to add to it, please propose the changes on its talk page.

A tag has been placed on your user page, User:Lyndachica, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be advertising which only promotes or publicises someone or something. Promotional editing of any kind is not permitted, whether it be promotion of a person, company, product, group, service, belief, or anything else. This is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages — user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources or advertising space. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.

This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. I am declining your unblock request because it does not address the reason for your block, or because it is inadequate for other reasons. To be unblocked, you must convince the reviewing administrator(s) that
- the block is not necessary to prevent damage or disruption to Wikipedia, or
- the block is no longer necessary because you
- understand what you have been blocked for,

- will make useful contributions instead.
Please read the guide to appealing blocks for more information. Yamla (talk) 17:10, 25 September 2020 (UTC)

I am brand new to Wikipedia and just trying to add content about my music and company.
- See WP:SPAM and WP:NOTADVERTISING, as noted in your block log. Wikipedia isn't the place for you to do this I'm afraid. --Yamla (talk) 17:10, 25 September 2020 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of User:Lyndachica/sandbox
[edit]A tag has been placed on User:Lyndachica/sandbox requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section U5 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to consist of writings, information, discussions, and/or activities not closely related to Wikipedia's goals. Request reason:
I am not trying to use wikipedia as an advertising platform. I will read and understand how information is correctly added and will not violate your policies going forward. I did not know how to correctly add content before and just added information that was on my Linkedin which is incorrect. I would like to please have the ability to start fresh with Wikipedia and start off learning with my user page. I apologize for not understanding how this site works as I only signed up here a week ago and will ensure that I no longer violate your policies. Thanks Lyndachica (talk) 11:08, 26 September 2020 (UTC)

Based on your commentary here, it seems like your only intention is to edit about things in which you have WP:PAID interests and, therefore, a conflict of interest. We are not going to unblock you to allow you to edit about yourself and musicians your company works with. only (talk) 12:08, 26 September 2020 (UTC)

Your reason here: I understand what I was blocked for - as writing about yourself publicly on Wikipedia is a violation. I will not continue to cause damage or disruption and will make useful contributions instead. All content will be factual, unbiased information. I will use my user page to write a very brief line about myself and will ensure that it is within the guidelines outlined by the platform – stating only facts and nothing else. I am not trying to use Wikipedia as an advertising platform, as that was never my intentions. Again, I'm very sorry for the issues I have caused and would just like the opportunity to make my wrongs right. I did not intend on causing harm and violating your website. The company I work for is 6IX Vibez Media and we deal with a lot of musicians and new music in Toronto. 6IX Vibez Media is a company that handles web design and graphic design for artists. There is no paid advertising done on The Music Game Podcast. The Music Game podcast is a non-profit radio show that I am the host of. There is no money nor paid advertising done on the show. I just want the opportunity to learn how to correctly use the system and share amazing content with the world. I did not know that I was causing violations when I originally created this account, as I literally copied and pasted my Linkedin Profile. I also work in the beauty and fashion world and will be writing about beauty and fashion trends. I will be writing about music, fashion and beauty. Hopefully that explains a bit more about me and my intentions. I promise to adhere wholeheartedly with the policies and procedures outlined by Wikipedia. Also, I don't plan on posting anything until I've read everything I need to learn about Wikipedia and how to correctly post anything. Thanks Lyndachica (talk) 7:54 am, Today (UTC−5)

This request still suggests a lack of understanding of how conflicts of interest work on Wikipedia. signed, Rosguill talk 18:50, 26 September 2020 (UTC)

- You have multiple open requests. You only need one. Please consolidate your requests into a single request, and also instead of putting your request statement outside of your request, simply overwrite the words "Your reason here" with your initial statement. Subsequent statements may be outside your request. 331dot (talk) 12:59, 26 September 2020 (UTC)

Request reason:
Your reason here: As I'm brand new to Wikipedia, I only opened this account last week and made one mistake for posting the information I have on myself on Linked in, I'm indefinitely blocked. This is completely unfair as I didn't even get the opportunity to correct my errors. I'm still reading through all the information how to correctly post information and what content to post. I just want the opportunity to prove that I will not commit any further violations on your site and unable to do so as now I'm permanently blocked. I never knew that I was committing any infractions or violations as I only posted 1 thing about me - my Linked In profile. It's ridiculous and unfair to indefinitely block someone brand new, who wants the opportunity to add more value to your site. If I had known my 1 post would've caused these issues and violations, it never would've been posted to begin with. I apologize for the issues caused and just want the opportunity to make things right. It's very frustrating and upsetting this has happened as it was done unintentionally. It's not fair to be permanently banned for positing 1 post, especially since I've explained I'm brand new to the site. It was my mistake on my part not learning how to post content and I fully accept that. But to make 1 post that is incorrect to be indefinitely penalized is just ridiculous and completely unfair. I'm not trying to market anything, not trying to make conflicts of interest or make money from any of my posts. I work in non profit to begin with. I'm in the music, fashion and beauty world and wanted to share creative content. I got laid off from Google because of COVID and started The Music Game Podcast where I interview artists who are also struggling. It's non profit and there is no monetary gain from doing so. I'm sorry that I made 1 post about myself and got myself infinitely banned. Again, I did not know I was causing violations and very sorry for doing so. Wikipedia should be very transparent that when someone is making their first post it could result in a lifetime ban. This was never told to me and I honestly had no idea that my first post would warrant a lifetime ban. I regret not knowing this information as I never would've made a post about my music. Now that I have a better understanding of how the site works, I'm trying my best to learn everything and don't plan on posting anything until I fully understand how the site works. If I'm given the opportunity. Thanks Lyndachica (talk) 19:38, 26 September 2020 (UTC)
Decline reason:
You do not have a "lifetime ban". You have a block(blocks and bans are different on Wikipedia) without an end date, meaning it will last until an administrator is convinced that you understand what you did and that unblocking you will somehow benefit this project. Since you state that you don't intend to post anything, there is no need to remove the block, since blocks only prevent editing(posting). You are welcome to take all the time you need to learn more about Wikipedia and decide what you wish to accomplish here before requesting unblock; there is no deadline. You don't need to know every policy on Wikipedia(I don't know them all and I'm an administrator) but you do need to be aware of what you did wrong and tell us what you will do differently in the future, including what edits you will make. (hint, I'd start with conflict of interest) I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 23:06, 8 November 2020 (UTC)
