Compulsion Games

[edit]

Hi, this may not be your intent, but the article does read a bit like a PR piece instead of an unbiased article. I posted a request to the Video Game WikiProject team asking them to help you out, if that's OK. --Mr. Vernon (talk) 21:13, 22 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I have no link with Compulsion Games. You can read my statement in my user page. I'll follow your advice and will try to correct the style. thanks. Lucafg74 (talk) 21:16, 22 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

No worries, I didn't think you were. Good luck, and thanks for the contribution. I did a double take when I saw this new article pop up, since We Happy Few has gotten quite a bit of coverage as of late (as did Contrast when it came out.) --Mr. Vernon (talk) 21:19, 22 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If the information you linked to is indeed in violation of copyright, then such information should not be linked to. Please consider using our upload facility to upload a suitable media file, or consider linking to the original.
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Thanks! --XLinkBot (talk) 13:21, 23 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry but i have not understand wiki policy yet. It seems very ambiguos, not coherent, illogical and castrating. I read a lot of wiki page about companies and their website are in the reference links! Search for The Chinese Room (another game company) and see, please!! Now a lot of moderators mind about my links! Ok, this is a community, i accept your suggestions!! So i trust you and accept your changes! In the meanwhile i'm going to learn more. Perhaps wikipedia try to prevent commercial speculations on its pages. That's fine. But my purposes are of artistic and cultural nature. In the past i contributed a few italian wiki pages about music, cinema, physics. Now i want promote art in videogames, but not to promote any company. I hope you understand. I'm learning to do this at my best, respecting wiki policies. Thanks! Lucafg74 (talk) 13:36, 23 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I read the wiki policy about video. This video should be ok to link. So i inserted it again. Lucafg74 (talk) 14:36, 23 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You seem to have a conflict of interest when it comes to this subject. Not because you have a direct tie to Compulsion Games, but because you are trying to promote videogames as a form of art, which is what your website is promoting. You say you want to learn and that you want to respect wiki policies, however a bot, and three editors have now mentioned that the edits seem more promotional than anything else. Yet you still refuse to see what is wrong with the edits.

Your example of the lasers in your class is a good one, you can show the laser, mention the type of laser, the manufacturer of the laser, and the specs of the laser; however when you start reading from the manufacturer's sales pitch or quoting the creator on why he created that type of laser and what flaws he saw in other manufacturers that led him to create this laser then you probably have crossed line into a promotional mode. You may not even realize it because of our internal bias.

Finally your user page probably does not currently conform to current user page standards, as it clearly and blatantly promotes your website. VVikingTalkEdits 16:22, 23 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

And what's about the example of physics toys? Lucafg74 (talk) 16:31, 23 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, i'll remove links to my group. But it is silly, because is a cultural project. Culture must help culture. You see promotion everywhere. I can understand you guys, i can only imagine how many people try to do promotion on wikipedia. But you are wrong with me. Yes, i know where the misunderstanding lies: Compulsion Games is a company, so it is not recognized as an artistic team. But it's wrong. All artist are also sellers of their artwork. Lucafg74 (talk) 16:31, 23 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Not a good beginning in wikipedia! Perhaps because it is a company! Very castrating! Lucafg74 (talk) 16:40, 23 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

It takes time, I have been here 4 years, and I am finally feeling a little more comfortable. As long as you are willing to learn and take advice you will do okay. You may even learn to enjoy it. VVikingTalkEdits 16:43, 23 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
