  • responded on the article -- copied two lists from the original source (non-copyrightable factual information) and was in process of reformatting them when the bot automatically tagged the article. recommending that the bot ramp down just a notch. --Lquilter (talk) 20:51, 11 October 2012 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Sally Floyd, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page ACM (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Portal:Freedom of speech

  1. Progress update: I'm all done with this setup, it's really fleshed out quite nicely. I'll bring it for portal peer review after I've finished with ongoing peer review of Portal:Society.
  2. Query: In the meantime, would you like to be a part of starting WP:WikiProject Freedom of speech with me? :)

Cirt (talk) 03:24, 24 October 2012 (UTC)

Query: What do you think of copying this Portal:Freedom of speech/Topics, into a footer template {{Freedom of speech}} using Template:Navbox, to display on related articles at the bottom of the article, as a navigational tool? — Cirt (talk) 15:36, 24 October 2012 (UTC)

Any thoughts on this idea? — Cirt (talk) 23:39, 31 October 2012 (UTC)
I think it's way too long at this point. Needs to be minimized ... maybe pick a few, then ellipsis; rotate them in and out? --Lquilter (talk) 01:14, 1 November 2012 (UTC)
Okay, how about you create {{Freedom of speech}}, and add in which links from Portal:Freedom of speech/Topics you think are most important for a footer {{Navbox}} style navigation template? That way, I'll defer to your judgment. :) The portal itself, we can keep more broad. :) — Cirt (talk) 03:09, 1 November 2012 (UTC)

Freedom of speech = New WikiProject

Hi there, I'm notifying you (due to prior discussions, above). I've recently gone ahead and created WP:WikiProject Freedom of speech. If you're interested, here are some easy things you can do:

  1. List yourself as a participant in the WikiProject, by adding your username here: Wikipedia:WikiProject_Freedom_of_speech#Participants.
  2. Add userbox {{User Freedom of speech}} to your userpage, which lists you as a member of the WikiProject.
  3. Tag relevant talk pages of articles and other relevant pages using {{WikiProject Freedom of speech}}.
  4. Join in discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Freedom of speech.
  5. Notify others you think might be interested in Freedom of speech to join the WikiProject.

Thank you for your interest in Freedom of speech, — Cirt (talk) 23:40, 24 October 2012 (UTC)

Systemic bias

Hi! I just read through your presentation that was linked in this week's Signpost, and I thought you did a great job encapsulating many of the issues that contribute to or come from systemic bias. It's even more motivation for me to write articles on female scientists! Thank you so much. Keilana|Parlez ici 16:59, 31 October 2012 (UTC)

New article: Freedom for the Thought That We Hate

New article, created, at Freedom for the Thought That We Hate. Let me know what you think so far? — Cirt (talk) 08:44, 5 November 2012 (UTC)

I have proposed that Category:Second language acquisition be renamed to Category:Second-language acquisition, and I am notifying you because you either participated in discussions about the hyphenation of "second(-)language acquisition" on the article's talk page, or because you participated in the previous CfD discussion. I would be grateful if you could give your opinion on the latest discussion, which you can find at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2012 November 10#Category:Second language acquisition. Thank you for your time. — Mr. Stradivarius (have a chat) 03:14, 10 November 2012 (UTC)

Moving the AR activist cat talk page

Lquilter, would it not be best to leave this where it was? For two reasons (a) the discussion is now misleading, with editors appearing to argue against a cat that in fact they supported, and (b) if someone starts a new discussion on the activist cat page in future, its history will be missing. SlimVirgin (talk) 19:00, 18 November 2012 (UTC)

  • Agreed it's always a bit misleading when articles are renamed, but IMO it's better to have the history accessible. It's in the archive, which should minimize confusion, and one could always add a note .... As for the history being missing on the activist cat page -- it was already missing, i.e., hard to find, because it had been deleted. ANYWAY -- all that aside, I don't have particularly care whether it's available under the original, old cat name ("AR activists") or under the new cat name ("AR advocates"). But I do think it needs to be readily accessible on one of the pages. (And linked from both, I would say.) ... The more accessible and open, the less we risk re-creating and re-hashing old debates. --Lquilter (talk) 21:48, 19 November 2012 (UTC)
  • Okay, now I see that Timrollpickering deleted the activist cat talk page on 17 Nov. I think that's the step that shouldn't have happened. If someone tries to recreate the cat, it will be useful for them to see the previous discussion. So my suggestion is to move it back to Category talk:Animal rights activists, and then if you want, leave a note at Category talk:Animal rights advocates to say there is a discussion there that might be of relevance. But as things stand, it makes people look as though they contributed to a discussion about (X) when it was a discussion about (Y). SlimVirgin (talk) 21:59, 19 November 2012 (UTC)
