Barbi Black

Barbi Black (born Iliya Bulus Longddet 14 April, 1988) is a Nigerian Local reggae musician. Barby has recorded Root Reggae and Rock songs, as well as songs dealing with philosophical topics.

He released early root reggae singles in 2005-2007, but does not gain popularity with the two singles (Babylon Falling, Babylon Prophet) and One reggae albums titled "Shalom Africans" in 2009.

His released of the first reggae album titled "Shalom Africans" gained national recognition early on his career for the following tracks; shalom African, my soul and wake up.

Biography Background

Barbi Black was born in Mangu, Plateau State Nigeria in a localized area called Dungmunan. Barby is a nickname given to him by his local co-reggae artist and in Mwaghavul Dialect which stands for barji meaning healing.

Barbi under go his educational career at Lafia, Nasarawa State after he went to Plateau State Polytechnic where he acquired his 'A' level education in Accountancy and When to study short term course in Computer Science, Data Analysis and Software Engineering, while his father Bulus Dadak Longdeet is a Pastor in the Church of Christ in Nigeria. He is the second child in his father.

Early career

Barbi started his music career at the early age of 14. As a young and uprising star, Barby would often watch his favorite artists perform at Reggae Sunplash and other reggae artist like Papa Bob Marley Lucky Dube, Peter Tosh and Burning Spear, which he called him his music mentor.

His album titled "shalom Africans" was released in 2009 and in 2012 Barby released another local music album called "Salama" which stands for peace; but did not see wide spread unlike the first reggae album in 2009".

Barbi has rejected titled Ras which is bear by must of the local reggae artis; he said this in an interview with the Middled bell News Papers July 23, 2011 that "I am not a Rastafarian-I am a Christafarian and that i belong to christ not Haile Sellasi I".
