Do you understand that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and not a business directory? - How is the page there in the first place?

Do you understand conflict of interest? Fully, but again the page needs to be updated with relevant FACTUAL information which I am willing to do

Do you understand that to be considered for an encyclopedia article, the subject must be notable? Fully, again this is simply an update of how the product works and what is included, we are not promoting London Pass but if wiki users were to look and find this page they would see out of date information which could lead to confusion and upset.

  • How is the article there in the first place? - Ideally, someone with no connections to the organization wrote it, that's how.
  • Fully, but again the page needs to be updated with relevant FACTUAL information which I am willing to do - Nonononono, you're not understanding. While we do allow for and appreciate if people fix things up, more often than not their prose is severely lacking. A conflict of interest on Wikipedia is writing about something for one's own ends instead of to help the encyclopedia. See WP:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide for a simple guide as to how to edit whilst conflicted.
  • Fully, again this is simply an update of how the product works and what is included, we are not promoting London Pass but if wiki users were to look and find this page they would see out of date information which could lead to confusion and upset. - Then read over your contributions, and put yourself in the shoes of a leyman or your competitors, then ask yourself: "Is this article trying to get me to buy something?" —Jeremy v^_^v Components:V S M 14:18, 16 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, LondonPass, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I notice that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or any other editor to proofread it. To start creating a draft article, just click your user name at the top of the screen when you are logged in, and edit that page as you would any other. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

The one firm rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. It is also worth noting that Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which specifically link them to one company or corporation. If your username does have such a name, it would be advisable for you to request a change of username.

If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! You can also just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! TeapotgeorgeTalk 09:29, 16 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended or used for publicity and/or promotional purposes. Please read the following carefully.

Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, celebrity or other well-known individual, or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements, and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but such groups are generally discouraged from using Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.

Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?

Probably not. See WP:FAQ/Organizations for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, organization, or clients. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

What can I do now?

You are still welcome to write about something other than your company, organization, or clients. If you do intend to make useful contributions on some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} on your user talk page.
  • Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, please see how to appeal a block. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 10:48, 16 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I understand that because I may represent the company you may feel I have a conflict of interest, but in fact I am just trying to bring the London Pass Wiki page up to date in line with our product changes. We feel this would be helpful and informative for wiki users.

Decline reason:

Here are a few key questions: You are currently blocked because your username appears directly related to a company, group or product that you have been promoting, contrary to the username policy. Changing the username will not allow you to violate the 3 important principles above.. The new name chosen also continues to violate the username policy. Due to the length of time that has passed since this was created, I'm declining. Feel free to create another unblock after you've answered the points below. m.o.p 15:15, 17 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Mandy. Your request was also seen on unblock-en-l@lists.wikimedia.org. The only remaining problem is that you seem to be unaware of the problem of WP:Conflict of interest. Your new user name is clearly acceptable. If you will agree not to add anything to articles about London pass, but instead, make recommendations on the talk page (such as Talk:London pass) I think your request could be approved. I've placed this unblock on hold while we wait for HJ Mitchell's input on unblocking. m.o.p 20:24, 23 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Have you thought about EdJohnston's reply? Do you understand our conflict-of-interest policy? m.o.p 18:39, 30 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
