Knitting pictures
I see that you're the originator of Image:Howtoknit.jpg. Do you still have the original lying around? There are two errors in the captioning: where you say "clockwise", it should read "counter-clockwise", and everywhere you write "stich" it should be "stitch". I'd edit it myself (and may yet do so), but it'll be easier to make the fonts and such match up if you do it. ;) /blahedo (t) 04:44, 4 October 2005 (UTC)
- Nice on the purl pictures. I'm actually right this moment uploading some pix of how to knit English-style, at which point I'll probably move your pictures over to a (new) Continental-style page, and it's nice that both are there. As regards clockwise-ness, I'm looking at the picture and I still see CCW, but I think I see where the confusion is. I look at the motion my hand makes to make the stitch, and I look at my hand palm-down, and it moves CCW. If I make the same exact motion but hold the needles so that I'm looking up at my palm, the same exact motion now appears to be clockwise. I don't have any good solution to this, especially not one that will fit into a one- or two-word blurb under a picture! Any ideas? /blahedo (t) 04:45, 5 October 2005 (UTC)
Spinning wheel
Thank you for your edits in the spinning wheel article. You seem very knowledgeable abut the subject and perhaps you could direct me to a book title, a journal or a dependable websites to add in the "external links" and "references" section so that the casual reader may have the benefit of extended reading in case she/he develops an attachment to the subject. This is just a request therefore there is no hurry to do so; I would appreciate it if the reader was guided to a wealth of additional reading material.
My compliments and best wishes!

Hello
Hello Loggie,
I am a new user on Wikipedia. I have recently contributed an article called “Seam types” that is about seam types within the apparel industry. I noticed that you’ve contributed to the Textile Manufacturing Terminology page as well as the Textile Manufacturing page. I was wondering if you would take a look at my article and add any information you might have about the topic or advise in ways it could improve.
It was nice to read about you, looking forward to your reply.
Thank you, Snap pea 05:02, 18 October 2007 (UTC)Snap_PeaSnap pea 05:02, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
You deleted material (not mine) on the above from textile manufacturing, and rightly so. It gave much too much detail to be approriate to a general article. As you said, it belonged somewhere. I have accordingly forked it into a new article. See my comments on its talk page. You may wish to take this further. I am not expert in the subject. Peterkingiron 18:08, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
- I actually know nothing about yarn cleaners, and only a bit about the mechanized process of making yarn, though I know all about doing so by hand. I've done a spellcheck on the article, and I can start trying to wikify it, but other than that I'm not sure what to do with it. Can you please use some more references for this article. Otolemur crassicaudatus (talk) 09:43, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
- I suppose I can look for some- my recent (only) edit to the article was just to clean up a reference that someone else added. However I don't have access to any non-online references currently. Loggie (talk) 09:56, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

In case you don't see my response at my Talkpage, let me say here on yours, thank you for noticing ! I was careful not to make changes in the meaning, as I know nothing in this field. Prod
Most of your questions can be answered at the prod policy page, WP:PROD. If any user removes a prod tag for any reason (unless it's blatant vandalism like blanking the page or something), then the prod is considered contested and the tag should not be reinserted into the article. If you still think the article should be deleted, you can take it through the AFD process where an actual debate can take place and the deletion of the article can be more thoroughly enforced. Thanks. --Closedmouth (talk) 07:50, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for your edits on Indian coracles article. Can you think of a good DYK hook for this? Cheers Wiki San Roze †αLҝ 21:21, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
- Actually, I found the article off the DYK page, where it had already been nominated with the hook "...that Indian coracles, which take only about a day to build, are one of the major tourist attractions on the Kaveri River?" If it weren't for the fact that someone nominated it, I wouldn't have stumbled across it. And thank you to you for not minding all my comments and tweaks. Loggie (talk) 21:26, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
- Oh OK! I did ask John Carter too. Didn't realise he would have already done that. BTW, I really thought that your comments were constructive and so were your edits. I surely don't own that article. Wiki San Roze †αLҝ 21:34, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

BP Pedestrian Bridge
Thanks for the editorial assistance. We are thinking about a WP:FT drive for Millennium Park so your kind of assistance would also be useful on Crown Fountain, Jay Pritzker Pavilion and Lurie Garden. Cloud Gate and Millennium Park are getting close to a level where your assistance would be helpful as well.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 07:25, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
- No problem. I went through Crown Fountain and Millennium Park, if I get a chance I'll give the others a look too. I'm currently preparing to go on vacation for awhile, so we'll see. If I had more time, I'd try and rearrange things in the articles-the current flow isn't optimal: occasionally there are paragraphs with three topics and no bridge between them, for example. Loggie (talk) 09:47, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

McCormick Tribune Ice Rink is now up. Take a look. I don't know if you like politics, but I could use some eyes on Jack Kemp which I hope to renominate at WP:FAC later this month.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 00:08, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

- Now we have Cloud Gate, BP Pedestrian Bridge, Lurie Garden, McCormick Tribune Ice Rink, Wrigley Square and Harris Theater (Chicago) all in the WP:GAC queue. Trump Chicago
I don't know if you ever participate in WP:FAC discussion or if you are from Chicago, but you may be interested in the discussion about Trump International Hotel and Tower (Chicago). You may also want to take a stab at a copy edit.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 15:14, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
- I don't live in Chicago-I spent a few frustrating hours in OHare yesterday (does that count?), but otherwise I haven't been in Chicago for a long time. Nor have I participated in WP:FAC discussions-I like to watch things and figure out exactly how it all works before doing stuff-currently I'm in the watching phase on FAC discussions, maybe sometime soon I'll actually comment. I'll go ahead and look at the article itself later today though, and see if I can improve it any. Loggie (talk) 17:46, 5 July 2008 (UTC)

Someone impersonating you?
Hi. I spotted a warning message left by you at User talk:Fry2000, however on looking at the edit history it appears an IP user has been signing comments with your name.[1] I am assuming that it isn't you that left the message as you have left warning messages on the IP's talk page. If you didn't leave the message you may wish to take further action, or at least change the signature on the IP's message. Regards. Road Wizard (talk) 07:07, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
hello, that was my mistake. sorry, i put the message on there without realising there was a signature already attached. its not clear how these things work sometimes is it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.231.2.252 (talk) 12:54, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
- Loggie, as the IP user has now acknowledged the mistake and apologised I don't think any further action is necessary in this case. However, if a similar situation occurs in the future, one way to deal with it is to correct the false signatures and leave a message on the editor's talk page asking them to stop. If the editor continues to impersonate you then it may be worth leaving a warning message (there is no template specifically for impersonating other editors, but the generic vandalism warnings can be used instead). If the editor continues to vandalise after a level 4 warning you can report them at Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism to get an administrator to intervene.
- Let me know if you need any further help. Regards. Road Wizard (talk) 17:39, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
Cashmere
I've had to revert this page again to the version you want, and that other people want, but someone keeps reverting it back to his preferred version. Cant he be stopped from doing this or will I get a message telling me to stop doing it again? 90.231.2.252 (talk) 07:59, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
- I'm not going to leave you anymore messages, and if I knew a way to stop it I would have done so awhile ago. So the current wording is acceptable to you? Any ideas on tweaks to make it acceptable to others? Loggie (talk) 12:20, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
Yes, I think it is well written now. I dont know what the other user reverts it for. Perhaps just to cause trouble? But I am happy as it is. So are you. So is the user who originally wrote it this way. It should be left now. 90.231.2.252 (talk) 12:52, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
Trump Chicago
Trump International Hotel & Tower (Chicago) recently failed at WP:FAC. Since you have significant past service at WP:CHICAGO and participated in the debate, I am requesting your opinion. The substantive issues of debate seemed to focus on the following issues:
- Should the article contain a section on the spa. My argument has been that the current plans call for it to be a business consuming two floors of the hotel and the the article can not pass WP:WIAFA 1b without describing it. Some say the spa is a trivial part of the business and its inclusion represents a form of advertising. I argue that describing a business operation is not per se advertising, but the perception on WP is that it is, which is why a project like WP:APARKS has no WP:GA or WP:FA articles. With that in mind do you feel the current section should 1. remain as is. 2. be slightly edited for POV tone. 3. be significantly trimmed for over emphasis 4. eliminated for irrelevance.
- Should the article contain a section on the bar. Although the case is not as strong for the inclusion of the bar, my argument has been that the easily found WP:RS have described it and the the article can not pass WP:WIAFA 1b without describing it. I concede the sources are less important sources than for the spa and most of the rest of the article. With that in mind do you feel the current section should 1. remain as is. 2. be slightly edited for POV tone. 3. be significantly trimmed for over emphasis 4. eliminated for irrelevance.
- There are three well-sourced (3 New York Times and 2 Chicago Tribune refs) sentences describing the role of Trump's Children. Should they be in the article? Should these sentences 1. remain as is. 2. be slightly edited for POV tone. 3. be significantly trimmed for over emphasis 4. eliminated for irrelevance.
- There was debate over the need to have links to both List of tallest buildings in Chicago and List of tallest buildings in the United States in the article and further debate on whether to have these same links in the See also section. Please state your opinion on both issues.
- There seems to be an issue on whether the second setback lines up with Marina City. Do you know of any WP:RS on the issue? If not do you think this should be mentioned in the text?
- There are numerous words that I have linked that remain contentious with my rationales.
- see WP:OVERLINK#What_generally_should_be_linked - geography: London, Australia, New Orleans, Louisiana, North Africa, India, United States
- see WP:OVERLINK#What_generally_should_be_linked - relevant connections to other articles to help reader understand this article:
- Many readers will be looking for information on the restaurant and they should understand the terms: cocktails, sushi (I have mentioned before that I did not know what the term meant when I was in high school), cuisine, decor, entrees, appetizers,
- I want readers to understand the features of the building: VIP room, pool, saunas, health club, spa, antennas, parking garage, hotel, swizzle sticks
- see WP:OVERLINK#What_generally_should_be_linked - references to a page with more information: gemstone, diamond, ruby, sapphire, emeralds, billboard, standing room only
- see WP:OVERLINK#What_generally_should_be_linked - technical terms: wine racks, wine rooms, architect (I link professions when relevant as technical terms. This particular link has been hotly contested yet I don't believe most people actually know exactly what an architect does), hedge fund, floors (links to storey), business district, interior design, divers (although this goes to disambig page it is difficult for me to say whether to link to scuba diving or surface supplied diving)
- see WP:OVERLINK#What_generally_should_be_linked - Word usage that may be confusing to a non-native speaker: course, union
- Please list all of the words above (and any others you may see in the article) that you feel should be delinked.
- Also, please state whether you think full dates should be linked in this article.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 20:10, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
HELP
Since you have participated in several editorial tasks for WP:CHICAGO I am contacting you. We need your help on three issues.
- You have edited most of the articles at WP:CHIFTD. Cloud Gate is under attack by some vandals. Please weigh in at Talk:Cloud_Gate#Recent_Edits_by_IPS. Also, feel free to take another look at its most recent version because we hope to nominate it soon at WP:FAC.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 19:02, 18 July 2008 (UTC)
- At Trump Tower in the section above I asked for your help. There are several issues to be resolved from the failed FAC. I have selected one person who voted oppose, one person who voted support and one person who participated in the discussion without voting to get a fair set of responses to the issues. Without your response it may take a long time to reach a resolution on some of the issue. Please consider responding to the survey above.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 19:02, 18 July 2008 (UTC)
- Feel free to take a look at BP Pedestrian Bridge prior to its WP:FAC submission.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 19:02, 18 July 2008 (UTC)
