Republican presidential primaries, 2016 new table
[edit]I agree with your table, but it has too much redundant info that is NOT important. Please remove the second and third place columns for the states, they serve no importance to mind. The only info that is important is the first place winners and states carried. Nobody needs to know about the other stuff. You are making this way too complex for users and readers. You can't always have what you want. Otherwise, we can just go back to the old table. We have to be SUCCINCT in Wiki articles, not placing random info. Remember, quality over quantity. Nike4564 (talk) 01:06, 22 February 2016 (UTC)
- Hi. The table is a combined version of the table that was already there, the information that was left out for deleting the candidates that dropped out, and the table that you can veiw in this section here.LiveFreeC16 (talk) 01:10, 22 February 2016 (UTC)
- Okay, I understand. But I think we should also focus on simplifying the small stuff. Like putting state abbreviations, and we should also add the candidate's color to their box like the old table. Nike4564 (talk) 01:15, 22 February 2016 (UTC)
- I would add the color back, but I also don't think it's important in this table. Mostly every map or instance where a color is used, the candidate's color and name is stated under or near it. I also think that we can leave the state names small, rather than putting abreviations of states (which I sometimes get confused about). I was thinking about possibly removing the candidate's pictures - all of them, but I am not sure if that would be good or not. The pictures seem redundant considering the top 4/5 are already on the page multiple times AND everyone else's picture is on their main page and every other expanded page. What do you think of that?LiveFreeC16 (talk) 01:18, 22 February 2016 (UTC)
- No, keep the pictures there, we shouldn't go too far. The thing is it's a radical change already for the table. If we make too much change, users will undo it. That's why I think we should put the colors, states abbreviations, to make it more like the old table. That's why I am also recommending that you get rid of the second and third columns for states to simplify the table as it's already too much. It doesn't matter if the last article had second and third columns for states, not all articles have to be METICULOUSLY similar. Also for the delegate count, please use my Associated Press link for the reference:http://interactives.ap.org/2016/delegate-tracker/?apikey=uSsHZA4dlPsWwDRHDAndAwIIQZ8OQgug . Most media rely on the Associated Press for these numbers to report delegate counts, as does the Democratic Party presidential primaries, 2016 page if you want to check it out (Unless you're conservative; just a joke by the way!), which makes it MUCH more credible than the GreenPapers link even though they can report the same numbers. It's all about being sure. Nike4564 (talk) 01:29, 22 February 2016 (UTC)
- I put that reference as the delegate source. I'm going to put abreviations for states in the 2nd place and 3rd place column. The first place column will have links to the states and the state's full name. That should remove some redundancy. As for the color, I can add them back, but is there colors for every candidate that I can add?LiveFreeC16 (talk) 01:34, 22 February 2016 (UTC)
- Don't add colors for the ones that are out. Just add colors for the ones that are in. Eventually as they drop out, you can remove the colors. Once the primaries end, candidates that were in until one person clinched the nomination can keep their colors or if they won a state. The others can have their colors removed. But who knows, if you want to find colors for all, do it. I think it would make sense in the long run. Nike4564 (talk) 01:41, 22 February 2016 (UTC)
- Okay. I can add them later. Going out now. LiveFreeC16 (talk) 01:42, 22 February 2016 (UTC)
- The new table is so bad .. its confusing with so many numbers just like the democrat one that you can't see the total delegates clearly which is the only thing that matters .. also no one cares who got what position in which state we only care about state winner .. and let's not forget those who dropped out having "dark grey background", really ?? .. I highly suggest removing this table given that i appreciate all efforts but the quality is just not good. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AhMeD BoSS (talk • contribs) 13:44, 22 February 2016 (UTC)

- it would be good if you could put your opinion on the Template for discussion page. I can see you have replaced the template with a table in the article. As the maker of the template your words are important. Leaving the template as an orphan will create death wood in the wikipedia system. Your help is very appriciated. As the maker of the template you also have the right to put it up for speedy deletion. Jack Bornholm (talk) 05:54, 22 February 2016 (UTC)

Table style
[edit]Hi. When you want to apply a style to a whole row of a table, you can do this by writing:
|- style="..." | cell1 || cell2 || cell3
instead of applying it to every cell of the row individually as you did here ;) Abjiklɐm (tɐlk) 20:15, 24 February 2016 (UTC)
