Standard message

[edit]

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in post-1932 politics of the United States and closely related people. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Every once in a while, I have a TFA, happy that it was also a tribute to Brian, in great collaboration, fine Main page, and see also. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:05, 4 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

James Longstreet FAC

[edit]

Hello. Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/James Longstreet/archive1 is in need of additional reviewers. It requires a source review and would benefit from at least one additional general review. If you are interested, please feel free to leave a review of the article. Thank you. Display name 99 (talk) 00:13, 18 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

OK. Sources are of course at the bottom of the article. There are links to all of them on Google books, although Google books does not have each work available in its entirety. I cannot provide you with links to the complete sources online, if that is what you are asking. Is that needed to conduct a source review? Some of them are available for a one hour period on archive.org if you have an account there. The main source that I used is a 1993 biography by Jeffry D. Wert, which is probably the best and most widely used biography of Longstreet. To a lesser degree, I used some older biographies of him. These are also reliable and academic in nature. Books written about specific campaigns and battles are often cited. For primary sources, Longstreet's memoirs are a great source of information, although I used this source with caution because it is heavily colored with bias. Edward Porter Alexander's Fighting for the Confederacy is an extremely balanced and valuable work which is cited frequently throughout the text.
Is there any other information that you require at the moment? Display name 99 (talk) 01:18, 18 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
If you used any journal articles or have other files you've used, email them to me. ♦ Lingzhi.Random (talk) 01:19, 18 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I don't use email for Wikipedia. I can provide you with links here. I only used one journal article, which is citation 268 in the article. Citation 181 is a link to the Official Records of the War of the Rebellion, pages 498 and 529. [1] Literally everything else is either a book or an article on the Internet. Thank you. Hi. Could you take a look at https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T348906? It appears there's some problematic interaction between reviewsourcecheck-sb.js and the Who Wrote That extension. RoySmith (talk) 18:08, 15 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
