Talk pages
[edit]I noticed your question at Wikipedia:Help desk#How to Respond to Teahouse Comment. I should reply there but I wanted to put the above welcome on your talk page and so am including this. You are free to ignore this, or reply to it, or delete it.
At Wikipedia:Teahouse#Question About Edit Summary Box the last comment currently starts with "And as long as I'm here...". To reply, click the [edit] link just after the "Question About Edit Summary Box" heading. You would see the first line shown in the following, and you would type a comment using the format shown in the second line. Because the second line is long, it may wrap to display on more than one line when you view it.
::And as long as ''I'm'' here... :::Thank you and here is my follow-up comment. I will finish by typing a space then four tilde characters. When I preview the edit I will see that the four tildes are replaced with my signature. ~~~~
Your reply would start with three tildes colons (one more than the comment you are replying to). See WP:TP for more, including the need to type four tildes for a signature. Johnuniq (talk) 07:50, 10 March 2018 (UTC)
- As someone said on the Help page, we don't expect new users to figure out all of the intricacies right away. The fact that you are aware of markup and asking about it already puts you ahead of most beginners. Welcome to Wikipedia. If you have any questions feel free to drop a line on my talk page. - Thank you! I'm getting the hang of it, thanks to the many helpful comments. LindaPenn04 (talk) 07:17, 11 March 2018 (UTC)
