Cleanup
How can I do cleanup for my article on Wikipedia? It is one of the ugly message appear on a article. A man from Matrix (talk) 13:58, 10 February 2011 (UTC)
- Which article if I may ask? If you really want to clean it up, just read the article once, coorect any grammatical errors and spelling mistakes, any part of the article not as per the manual of style that has to be followed, and you may remove any unencyclopedic content (see WP:NOT). But please make sure to explain your edits by giving a proper edit summary. One request to you, whenever there is something new, please create a new section and post your message on any talk (not just mine) and for continuity of the thread, reply in the same section. It is the same article which I have created Sihri. If I put new updates, records in discussion page its useless because I belong to such area who do not have any Active internet user or people who can suggest right information. Its totally backward area that is problem and i am working on such things because they are backward and much literate varna ugte sooraj ko sab salam karte hai.Somehow making them highlighted by providing information about such areas and communities. Thank you for your reply.

Thank you and a reply about editing Dharwad
Sir,
First I am thankful for your response. Also, I have edited Dharwad name in Marathi script, as Dharwad is a home of a majority of Marathi people and a large number of great Marathi personalities like Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, Gangubai Hangal. So, I think it would be a justice that to keep the name in Marathi script not violating the Kannada name. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Happysiddhant (talk • contribs) 12:24, 14 February 2011 (UTC)
- Per the concensus, we only list the title in English and if the article is about a non-English speaking region, we list the title only in the official language of that region, not each and every language that is spoken there (even if it is spoken by a large number of people). If you want to add a Marathi title, discuss on the projects page first before adding it.—Abhishek Talk to me 12:17, 15 February 2011 (UTC)

I was trying to de-orphaning the article that is why I added information of local area which are not directly related to Sihri. Its very difficult because enough material is not available on internet for this article .

Another edit war
Your edit war on Delhi is another reason that I strongly oppose your request for rollback. You clearly have no business with the privilege and are prone to edit wars. Toddst1 (talk) 06:38, 17 February 2011 (UTC)
- Edit war on Delhi? An IP reinstated what SpacemanSpiff had reverted. I reverted that asking them to discuss on talk page. As I told you in the above section, I did not even request for rollback, I just explained what happened. Thanks, —Abhishek Talk to me 06:46, 17 February 2011 (UTC)

Removal of telugu unicode text from the Bellary Article
Hi, Please explain why you removed the telugu unicode text from the Bellary page, but kept kannada text? I have read the WP:MOS, which has no relevant guidelines on this particular aspect. To me, it makes sense to remove kannada unicode text as well, as the pronunciation sound bite is already presented in the file. Shree (talk) 14:40, 22 February 2011 (UTC)
- Per WP:MOS, the title of any article should only be in English. But if the article belongs to a non-English speaking region, then we only list the title in the official language of that region. Bellary is in Karnataka and Kannada is the official language of Bellary, hence no Telugu title. So kindly stop reinstating the same. Thanks, —Abhishek Talk to me 14:43, 22 February 2011 (UTC)
- Agree with your reasoning - will keep the page as is. Apologies, but I had to ask you this question, as I've grown tired of dealing with Kannada fanatics vandalizing the page without adding an iota of valid content to the page. However, there is no rule to be found on the issue of non-English speaking regions having a supplementary native Unicode name added to the title/opening lines. Please post me a link to the rule if you can find it - to me it only appears to be a convention rather than a written guideline. Shree (talk) 14:55, 22 February 2011 (UTC)
- If you think I'm a Kannada fanatic, you may walk out of my talk page. FYI, I also edit articles of other states and revert if anyone has added a title in a language other than the official language of that state. —Abhishek Talk to me 15:00, 22 February 2011 (UTC)
- If I thought you were one of those, I would not have been discussing with you. This issue is now closed. Since you are enthusiastic about Karnataka related articles, I invite you to help reorganize the Bellary page, as it has grown haphazardly over the years. Thanks in advance. Shree (talk) 15:11, 22 February 2011 (UTC)
- My enthusiasm in general is on Airline and Airport article of India. But I do edit some towns and cities of Karnataka as I know only about Karnataka's towns and cities.—Abhishek Talk to me 15:16, 22 February 2011 (UTC)
NACIL/Air India
Hi, I see that you reverted my edits to the Air India page. I think you didn't realize that NACIL has now been changed to Air India, so all NACIL destinations are now Air India destinations. There is no more NACIL, only Air India. Hence all info on the Air India page and the Air India destinations page should include info that was on the Nacil and Nacil destinations page since Nacil=Air India. Hope you understand. Nikkul (talk) 21:48, 22 February 2011 (UTC)
- NACIL has been renamed Air India limited which is a holding company for AI, IC, CD and IX and not an airline by itself. Besides you should not be goining against the consensus at Talk:Air India destinations#Merge discussion. So kindly do not reinstate the same. And you may want to go through some other airline articles of the world and also WP:AIRLINE.—Abhishek Talk to me 01:27, 23 February 2011 (UTC)

Twinkle abuse
You recently reverted this edit claiming you were undoing WP:Vandalism. That edit in no way appears to be vandalism and you are misusing twinkle. Given your previous problems with rollback, I am revoking your twinkle privileges as you continue to misuse rollback (this time via TW). Toddst1 (talk) 01:18, 4 March 2011 (UTC)

As I said previously, I had not realised that I had undone those edits on the user's talk page and had continued to explain something to him. Anyways, I hope you are happy with what you have done! There are several editors out there who value my edits. So I don't care what you believe and do. Now I would say that you are definitely misusing your admin previledges! Latest revision as of 14:27, 3 January 2011
Hi,
Seem that you have undone the changes saying that Malayalam is not the official language of the entire country, so kindly do not make such additions. As far as I know Hindi is also not an official language of India. It is only one of the 14 languages. while English is recognized as official language. So in the same spirit I would be happy if you remove the Air-India name in Hindi also from the wiki.

Chennai airport
Dear Abhishek,
Every AAI periodical statics data shows the rankings of airports are same. No major changes in major airports. You can check the last 3years data. I think the sentence "For the period of Apr–Nov 2010, it was the" can be remove? What about

- If you believe so, then please start a discussion on the same. You should not be going against the concensus. —Abhishek Talk to me 05:22, 15 March 2011 (UTC)
Consensus is not permanent. will change accordingly. Did you check last 3year data. Its enough to change.
--Bijuts (talk) 07:23, 15 March 2011 (UTC)
- Biju, we added the time duration, precisely because of conflicting claims from various sources and articles. We arrived at this because people were comparing statistics of different time periods and arriving at their own conclusions, the presence of a time period reduces the possibility of such errors. I strongly suggest against removing the timeperiod. Else we will be having the same arguments all over again. (i think the relevant discussion is archived in chennai airport talk page) --Sodabottle (talk) 07:58, 15 March 2011 (UTC)

FlyMe - new maldivian airline
Please check: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FlyMe_%28Maldivian_Airline%29
The aircraft they'll be using is I-ADLQ (future 8Q-VAQ). Here are some photos of the aircraft in FlyMe livery. (Facebook link) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 8qblog (talk • contribs) 04:16, 16 March 2011 (UTC)
I see that you removed the CSD from the article FlyMe (Maldivian Airline). Your reasoning is not a valid reason to remove tag. The article was tagged because it did not meet the Wikipedia defined criteria for notability, not for any of the reasons you mentioned in your edit summary. I suggest you re-read notability and WP:GNG and acquaint yourself with the criteria for establishing notability and WP:CSD to review the Speedy Deletion process. My best to you. ttonyb (talk) 16:15, 16 March 2011 (UTC)
- I truly believe that since the airline has just been founded (mentioned in the source provided by the creator) and is yet to begin its operations, there will be enough scope for its improvement in the near future. The airline has very few google hits since it has just been established. It should definitely get several hits once it commences its operation. Cheers!—Abhishek Talk to me 16:22, 16 March 2011 (UTC)
- Again, none of this is part of the criteria for inclusion into Wikipedia. There is no guarantee the airline will be notable and therefore one should wait until there is significant coverage to include it as an article. Wikipedia is for companies that can demonstrate Wikipedia based notability, not for speculation. I again encourage you to familiarize yourself with Wikipedia guidelines. ttonyb (talk) 17:08, 16 March 2011 (UTC)
- Dear Tony, this airline is real, and not based on speculation. I do not understand how you label it as insignificant. --8qblog (talk) 03:15, 17 March 2011 (UTC)
- Where did I say this company is not real? Unless there are adequate references the company fails WP:COMPANY. Also, where did I say the company is insignificant? Please do not incorrectly infer or misquote my comments. ttonyb (talk) 03:24, 17 March 2011 (UTC)
- ttonyb, I'm very well aware of the above two policies. The reason I contested the CSD was that the article has scope to be improved and since it has just been founded, it may have very few sources regarding. But I feel once it begins operations, it will not only have sufficient sources but also will enough scope to be expanded. 8qblog, non-notable company does not mean that the company is non-notable or does not exist. It means that the article has failed to establish its notability. —Abhishek Talk to me 10:00, 17 March 2011 (UTC)

I recently removed a speedy delete tag that you had placed on Superfast Mail/Express. I disagree with the speedy deletion of Superfast Mail/Expressbecause this is not an article about a real person, individual animal(s), organization or web content.. Traffic ranking
Abhishek, did you see the data I posted on Talk:Cochin_International_Airport#Traffic Ranking: Revisited as new data is available? If not, please do.
Data is available for 53 months out of a 58 months contiguous period. So, what is the sanctity of the For the period of Apr–Nov 2010 qualifier? I just removed the qualifier, because more data is available. Why did you reinstate it?
DileepKS(talk) 10:29, 25 March 2011 (UTC)
- Dileep, the qualifier exists because people are comparing data from two different time periods and arriving at wrong rankings. We had a long discussion about this (archived in chennai airport talk page) and decided to add the time period so that such confusion doesnt arise. This was done uniformly for all indian airports. Increase the time period if you want, but please keep the time period - this (comparing data of wrong time periods) has led to lot of edit wars in the past--Sodabottle (talk) 13:36, 25 March 2011 (UTC)

Air India Regional
Should this carriers destinations and fleet me merged into main AI article? like Kingfisher and KF Red, as it is some one has removed it from just about all airport articles where they flew. Also whats the issue with infobox codes being reverted to CD etc. the airline is now AI despite continuing to use Alliance AOC.119.155.44.65 (talk) 20:57, 25 March 2011 (UTC)
- Air India Regional remains a separate airline. The situation with Air India Regional is the same as it was with Indian Airlines when IC became a part of NACIL and had its codes were merged with AI. Earlier an AI flight AI 9110 was nothing but IC 110. It is the same now with CD. Although, the codes show up as AI9***, it is a pure CD which is a code share with AI. So it is not relevant to change the CD code in the infobox and merging the destinations and fleet too would be incorrect. —Abhishek Talk to me 03:05, 26 March 2011 (UTC)

Edit of the Hoysala Architecture pages (Addition of weblink)
Hello Abhishek, my edit (addition of a weblink) to the Hoysala architecture pages was not for promotional or commercial purposes. The website which has been added as an external link is a personal blog and does not have any commercial angle. Since there is a map of all the important Hoysala temples and photos of all the temples mentioned in Gerard Foekama's book (Except Amritapura & Basaralu) on the blog, I think it would be relevant to the Wiki page; especially since many of the important temples don't have a wikipage . Feel free to delete the link if it does not meet wikipedia requirements. Orion90810 (talk) 22:13, 30 March 2011 (UTC)

About Rasmi Residential school in Davangere charity section
Hi Abhishek I made an edit to the Davangere page to add under the charity section a valid piece of informtion. Could you please let me know why you removed it? Thank you.

Can I help?
I see that you're feeling stressed and very discouraged on Wikipedia. I think that logged-in Wikipedians who contribute constantly don't get the recognition they deserve. I'm thinking about a number of ways to somewhat help you with your situation. I've just gone over your editing history, and noticed that you've been on for at least four months! That is a very long time. Maybe take a wikibreak, just like me two weeks ago. You can think about what your future plans on Wikipedia are, or whether you'd want to contribute or not. At the same time, it builds up your hunger for editing. Trust me, it works.
If you still want to stay on, instead of editing, just explore the site a bit. Read the Signpost, current and archived, and see for yourself that there are many WikiProjects that are worthwhile of attention. Visit unusual articles and and explore the funny side of Wikipedia. Have a look at WP:RFA and voice your opinions on the latest candidates. Practise your AWB right – make heaps of repetitive edits to the articles on your watchlist; this gives you a bit of momentum for a mass a edits. Immerse yourself in dialogue with other Wikipedians in deletion processes. Maybe you can help out with my master plan, etc
I'm guessing that you currently reside in India. Maybe go out and watch a Bollywood movie, or a game of cricket. Visit points of interest and if you have a cam, take heaps of photos for uploading to Commons. Go to a local library (if there's one) and borrow a book that interests you, and hopefully transfer the info onto Wikipedia once you return. Or just hitch a ride around town with your friends and colleagues. And many more.... Sp33dyphil Ready • to • Rumble 09:59, 9 April 2011 (UTC)

Per your report at AIV, I have blocked this IP for the time being. This one took a little research to confirm that the edits were indeed intentionally incorrect (checking sources, etc), so that is the likely reason there was not a quick response from anyone else. I'll do some footwork to see if a range block is possible. In the future, you may get a faster response if you drop a note on the page of an admin who is familiar with the problem, or if you create a small page to document the issue and actions taken to date... Old City
Hey Abhishek, I had a look at the article Old City, Hyderabad; and I am completely baffled! First of all, I am confused about the proper distinction of the Old City from the main city. Second, it violates many policies, least of them being the name, which is very confusing. I think we should let a Hyderabadi deal with this! Yes Michael? •Talk 16:40, 22 April 2011 (UTC)
- I have stayed in Hyderabad for 5 years and what I know is that Old City is just an area of the city which has many tourist attractions. But the author has written the article as if it is a city on its own. So there's a lot of cleanup required and I'm confused what to keep and what to remove from the article. —Abhishek Talk to me 07:03, 24 April 2011 (UTC)
- First up, the city infobox should be removed, I think it is a direct copy from Hyderabad, India. Then, it should be made clear that it is a locality. I don't think there is a walled city, is there? Yes Michael? •Talk 07:20, 24 April 2011 (UTC)

Recent Reverts about Kerala
All should be neutral regarding all the articles. For eg: the adjective "Evergreen city of India" is used for Trivandrum, "Garden city and Pensioners paradise for Bangalore, "Manchester of India" for Coimbatore etc., in the INTRODUCTION itself. Why coming with arguments against Kochi only? My question is very simple. What is wrong with adding the term "Commercial Capital of Kerala" in the introdction of Kochi page?
Also see Surat and Gujarat pages in wiki.

Unexplained removal of content, huh?
Thanks for reverting it back after all the pain I took to rearrange and reorder history. As for condensing a whole paragraph which was uncited, I have given my reasons in talk page. Other than that, please tell me what content was removed.
Which is the poor copy edit?
Scholars agree that Kerala is derived from either Classical Tamil Cheralam ("Land of the Cheras") or chera-alam

or
Scholars agree, that Kerala is the word of the Classical Tamil Cheralam ("Land of the Cheras") or chera-alam ("declivity of a hill or a mountain slope/range").
(original version)
Kerala is the word of Tamil Cheralam? The correct version that you restored?
Sorry for the impolite tone, and I understand that your intentions are noble and mine were too! I agree my command over English may not be great, but at least spend some time and read through the modifications before reverting back.
I thought of restoring some sanity to the Kerala article. And if you need more credentials, you can see that many references, a lot of cited content and a few photographs in Kerala article were my contributions (though long time back)
I stop here. Editing, everything. Shekure (talk) 10:39, 19 May 2011 (UTC)
- As I commented on Talk:Kerala, first your edits ended up with removal of 2311 bytes of information (too large!) from the article. If you were cleaning up the article, then you should have explained the same by providing an edit summary. Your edits on any article will not be reverted if you provide a proper edit summary (especially when removing or adding huge bytes of data) explaining what you intended to do in the edit.
- Besides regarding the ce you did here, you actually messed up with some words. —Abhishek Talk to me 10:53, 19 May 2011 (UTC)
