[edit]Hello. Some of your recent genre changes, such as the one you made to Where the Light Goes, have conflicted with our neutral point of view and/or verifiability policies. While we invite all users to contribute constructively to Wikipedia, we urge all editors to provide reliable sources for edits made. When others disagree, we recommend you seek consensus for certain edits by discussing the matter on the article's talk page. Thank you. Binksternet (talk) 23:25, 26 May 2023 (UTC)
Song articles versus album track listing
[edit]Song articles should not have an album track listing unless such a listing is the subject of media commentary. See WP:INDISCRIMINATE. That kind of listing is peripheral trivia and clutter. Binksternet (talk) 23:32, 26 May 2023 (UTC)
- I apologize, thank you for your response. My addition of the track listing was meant to provide context on the position of the given songs in the album as a whole, such as is done in pages like Champagne Supernova and Smells Like Teen Spirit. Is there a specific difference between these songs and the ones I edited that warrants the use of a track listing on those pages but not on others? Leafjolt (talk) 03:06, 27 May 2023 (UTC)
- The Template:Extra track listing is allowed in a song article when the whole album tracklist is important to the understanding of the song. This may be true for a concept album or a Broadway musical. The extra track listing should not be used if the meaning of the song is fully contained in the song. Also, if there is a list of the songs in a navigation template at the bottom of the page then the album track listing isn't needed.
- Your two examples don't really need the album track listing. Those songs are not dependent on other parts of the album for the reader to understand the song. Binksternet (talk) 04:21, 27 May 2023 (UTC)
