[edit]

Hello, I'm Adakiko. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Border reivers, but you didn't provide a source. I’ve removed it for now, but if you’d like to include a citation to a reliable source and re-add it, please do so! If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Adakiko (talk) 11:20, 10 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry fella. Can you not? It's not a mistake, I have read and own every published book I could find on the Border Reivers, I own a mound of them and I'm finally putting their useless knowledge to use and you're going to delete within five minutes? I prefer if you didn't and showed some patience. Lategreatanddead (talk) 11:27, 10 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'd rather you didn't talk down to me also. Lategreatanddead (talk) 11:30, 10 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia's policy of wp:verifiability essentially states that significant content needs to cite sources. Please include a citation to one or more of your books that would be considered a wp:reliable source. See help:referencing for beginners. Please don't wp:edit war. That and adding unsourced content are grounds for a wp:block. Thank you Adakiko (talk) 17:27, 10 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Adakiko, your message could use less sermonising and more constructive input. Lategreatanddead (talk) 20:23, 11 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi I began a rewrite at the moment out of spite of your rudeness and pettiness.
I hope it's okay. I did used to edit Wikipedia like back when there were literally three sites MSN, Yahoo and Wikipedia, but haven't in a while. I am going to add more cross-references to other Wikipedia articles.
Also, I am going to add more about the earlier pre-Flodden period were really begin to see beginning of Surnames and known heidsman, 'Hector of the Bower'. It's more of my forte. And more of the ethnography and anthropology of the Border Reivers, and of course reference them, like the semi-nomadism I remember reading in Steel Bonnets. And Heron the Bastard the rebel William Lisle whose stories are much forgotten. Lategreatanddead (talk) 22:22, 11 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Suggested reading: wp:HONEYPOT. Thank you for adding citations with your edits. Cheers Adakiko (talk) 07:05, 12 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No worries. I will persist in improving the article with the best sources of information.
I may create a narrative history section with (already written) Antecedents on the Anglo-Scottish frontier / The Emergence of Surnames -1513 / Flodden 1513 / Post-Flodden to Reformation 1514-1534 (or the so-called "Reiver Confederacy") / The Reformation and The Rough Wooing 1534 to 1560 / To Union 1560 to 1606 / Post-Union 1606-. Don't worry the titles may change!
I will probably end up re-writing in entirely, as I am sure as I dip back into old books to check references there will be more of interest and import to add, like more about theories about how the Debatable Land emerge by professional historians or more on transnational border history running upto the Border Reiver period or the rise and decline of certain Surnames over the period. That would be great! Please try for wp:Good article status! I presume you are familiar with the wp:Manual of Style or at least the wp:Simplified Manual of Style. Well, maybe not so much the former... Cheers Adakiko (talk) 18:07, 12 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
