"Mega Man XD"
Many thanks for bringing that to my attention. It was, indeed pure nonsense, exsisting only for chilish purposes. I've it up for deletion, and I encourage you to vote it for speedy deletion. This garbage must be eliminated as quickly as possible. -ZeroTalk 09:38, 2 February 2006 (UTC)

- User:Copperchair's rfar has finally been completed, and he is banned from Star Wars and War on terror articles. I am simply amused by the fact it took such a long duraration of time for this decision to come about. -ZeroTalk 15:47, 2 February 2006 (UTC)

AfD
Thanks - didn't know of the AfD category convention. The rest of the cleanup and spelling correction looks in order. --Ian Pitchford 21:28, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
- It's not a big deal in this case, because the page will (I hope) be deleted anyway. Sorry if I sounded overly harsh, but if people do this thing a lot (and with computer help) we'll end up with many pages that shouldn't be deleted but are in the deletion category because people who close AfD's won't remove the category. Re: my copy and paste instead of using a "move"
I didn't know about the move option - thanks for the info - will use next time. Before it is fixed though, I should point out that what I intended really is not a move but a fork. This is because the original edit to the "David Gill" page on or around the 3 February 2006 by "Consulrjo" overwrote the biography of a historical "David Gill" (I assume accidently) with that of another contemporary individual named "David Gill". Babe Ruth
I'm posting this message on you Talk Page either because you've contributed to the article Babe Ruth, or because you've edited other baseball or sports related articles. I've recently completed a revision of this article at Babe Ruth/rewrite. If you have the time, I'd appreciated it if you'd compare the articles and leave any feedback you might have on the rewrite discussion page. I'd like to reach a consensus before making major changes to the main article. Thanks for your help. --djrobgordon 20:07, 4 February 2006 (UTC)

{{Capmv}}
Hi, I changed the wording at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen to point to {{db-histmerge}}. If you're not happy with it, please let me know on my talk page or at the tfd page (and if you are, I'd urge you to change your vote at Wikipedia:Templates for deletion/Log/2006 February 5#Template:Capmv). Thanks. - Bobet 18:42, 6 February 2006 (UTC)
- Ok thanks. The biggest part of the problem about all of these pages seems to be that the instructions are partially duplicated in many places and the best instructions were hard to find (the actual tagging of the pages is a pretty simple one- or two-part process but it was very hard to find). I've tried to make it a bit easier by adding the instructions for users at Wikipedia:History merge and linking to that from the most obvious places WP:CSD, WP:MOVE and m:Help:Moving a page. - Bobet 20:00, 6 February 2006 (UTC)
- And I would agree that the instructions about moving the pages etc. are needlessly complex (since there aren't that many things non-admins can do). The problem again is that there are several instructions floating around. WP:MOVE and Help:Moving a page aren't even linked to from the main help contents. They only link to Wikipedia:History merge and yet another page called Wikipedia:Merging and moving pages. I guess this is what happens when everyone can also edit the help pages :(. Hopefully someone will eventually look at them, but the whole thing's too big of a mess for me right now. - Bobet 20:17, 6 February 2006 (UTC)
Why do you
Removed sourced quotes from Georg Forster article ? They were to be put and I hoped the article could be neutral. Yet again the mention of his racist views was put to minimum, I hoped that after seeing several scholary sources the article could become more neutral by your edits. I am very dissapointed that you try to present an one sided view of this person and his influences on German prejudices.I hope this will be corrected and sourced information won't be deleted. --Molobo 00:51, 7 February 2006 (UTC)

Deletion of untranslated articles at WP:PNT
Ya, I saw the discussion on the talk page, but didn't really have much to add to your last comment in there. Right now prod is pretty much a backdoor way of deleting things and I figured putting things on afd is better, since it gives people time to come up with objections on the talk page of PNT.
In the future prod would be a great place to put the untranslated pages though, since they always end up being uncontested deletions. If it comes to that, it'd also be good to put a clear notification that the process has been changed on the PNT page a few days before the first articles get prodded (in case someone from there wants to find an article listed for deletion). - Bobet 00:33, 8 February 2006 (UTC)
- I read it since WP:PNT is on my watchlist, I just haven't seen anything there that I'd disagree with so haven't really had any reason to comment there. And about prod: I don't really think it's a great process in most cases, but it would be perfect for the pages from PNT, since the only way anyone would contest them is if they were actually translated. But I do agree that it's better to wait for a while so that more people can get comfortable with prod first. - Bobet 01:04, 8 February 2006 (UTC)
German wikipedian's notice board
Since it is much needed, I created the Wikipedia:German_Wikipedians'_notice_board. - Calgacus (ΚΑΛΓΑΚΟΣ) File:UW Logo-secondary.gif 02:22, 8 February 2006 (UTC)
- That's great news - tnx for telling me about it. There will always be some revert-related posts and requests, but as vast majority of users of any nationality are sensible Wikipedians, I don't think your board is at risk from trolls and revert warriors - assuming that it will be frequented by majority of German wikipedians, and not dominated by some outcast group. One thing that we have discovered fairly recently and enjoy is Portal:Poland/New_article_announcements - you may want to create German new article annoucement subpage. It's a lot of fun :) --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 03:53, 9 February 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for letting me know about it. One way to find people in Germany, of course, is Category:Wikipedians in Germany. Another way is Category:User de-N, though of course there will be Austrians and Swiss there too. Angr/talk 05:35, 9 February 2006 (UTC)
Michael sogny
Kusma, I appreciate your clarification on translating relating to the Michael sogny article. I did read that portion, however since it stated not to utilize machine translation for "creation" of an article for sizable portions, and the article was already created and was very minimal in content compared to standard Wiki pages...guess I wasn't aware that the scope entailed the translation I had performed. However, I'll duly note this procedure, and thank you for bringing it to my attention. Netkinetic 06:44, 8 February 2006 (UTC)

Forsters
I spotted the article on Therese yesterday when I was translating the article on Forster to Polish. In fact, I miss some information about the children in the Polish translation, because it is crucial to know the gender of the children to phrase the translation smoothly. I'll dig a bit on her biographies. It seems she might have been crucial for German feminism. alx-pl D 15:20, 12 February 2006 (UTC)
Well, I'm not willing to attribute feminism to her before there is a good evidence that she was significant figure for that movement. alx-pl D 19:00, 12 February 2006 (UTC)
Maybe you have an access to this book. It contains an article on Therese Huber. I've got access to this article: Romanpoetik und Weiblichkeitsdiskurs : zur Bedeutung der Kategorie gender im Romanverständnis von Therese Huber und Johanna Schopenhauer by Angelika Schlimmer, but I have to make a small excursion to get that. alx-pl D 17:29, 13 February 2006 (UTC)

Georg Forster and Cook
Hello Kusma. I got your note on my talk page responding to my mention of Georg Forster's scientific work. I'm sorry to have taken so long to respond. My expertise on Forster is narrow (relating to his work on Cook's expedition), but I will make a few small edits. I have not had time to compose exactly the changes, but will do so soon. Cheers.--MayerG 14:16, 17 February 2006 (UTC)
Lübeck churches
Hello Kusma, though visiting en:WP once in a while I did not realize that there were stubbs on Marienkirche and Lübeck Cathedral "in the air". The link set from Lübeck to Marienkirche was the message. The reason was, that the stubbs were not categorized at all. I think the proper category is most important, if you want to expand a stubb, I think this a message for the message board. I fixed that and did the wikilinks on the stubbs, so that who ever is to do the translation, will find the artists and organists available in en:WP. We are still working on de:Lübecker Marienkirche, but it takes some time to write the "underarticles" on artists, priests and patrons for the links. We hope to be "exzellent" in fall 2006.--Kresspahl 13:57, 18 February 2006 (UTC)

German portal and noticeboard
Thanks for drawing my attention to this - allow me to congratulate you on your almost singlehanded efforts to get it up and running. I was in fact already familiar with it, but I have deliberately not been listing my new articles there for the present, and I wonder if without any offence intended I could ask you to respect that (as a purely temporary measure)? I do have a particular reason for asking this, which I would be quite happy to explain in an e-mail. The portal and noticeboard are extremely useful things and I look forward in the near future to becoming more involved with them. All best wishes, Staffelde 18:02, 19 February 2006 (UTC)

ÖFA
I took the speedy tag off this as it didn't seem like that crazy a typo, more like switching horse mid-stream for the polyglot... Austrian Football Association -> ÖFA. But it would have been the first thing I deleted from outside the standard twenty-six of the western monolingual, so I was a bit disappointed.

Prep Sanssouci for FAC
I promised Trebor to help him turn the red links in the Sanssouci article into blue links and work with him to get the article admitted as a FAC. I just put a note on his page asking him to list the red links on the Wikipedia:German-speaking Wikipedians' notice board under Requested Articles, but then I was thinking perhaps we'd want to draw special attention to a project like that. I'm not sure how to best do that though. Add a FA/Article improvement drive section? What do you think? --Mmounties 22:55, 21 February 2006 (UTC)
- I think we should have something like that. For a start, we could try that informally by just adding an entry on the ToDo list of the noticeboard that says "Article Improvement" -- Sanssouci and have a comment on the noticeboard below that directs people to discuss that at Talk:Sanssouci. Once we have many people coming that want their article to be the topic of the Improvement Drive, we can think about making a more formal process. For now, I think linking from the main WP:GSWN page and discussing the Sanssouci article and what needs to be done a bit on the GSWN talk page to create some interest should be enough. I think you should just go ahead and do that. If we need more formal structures for this, we should create a WikiProject Germany, but for now I will concentrate on the Portal page and not start another project. Hey there. Question: I posted the Caucasus Germans article on the new articles announcements (Mark Lewis translated). Hi, thanks for your voting on my RFA. It has finished with the result 88/14/9, and I am promoted. I am really overwhelmed with the amount of support I have got. With some of you we have edited many articles as a team, with some I had bitter arguments in the past, some of you I consider to be living legends of Wikipedia and some nicks I in my ignorance never heard before. I love you all and I am really grateful to you.
If you feel I can help you or Wikipedia as a human, as an editor or with my newly acquired cleaning tools, then just ask and I will be happy to assist. If you will feel that I do not live up to your expectation and renegade on my promises, please contact me. Maybe it was not a malice but just ignorance or a short temper. Thank you very much, once more! abakharev 07:34, 24 February 2006 (UTC)
Stubs under new article announcements on the Portal:Germany
Just wanted to get your thoughts on this. I was asked today and now I just saw someone else list stubs under the new articles. I told both the following:
- I don't think we want to list stubs as new articles. But it would be great if you could really translate the German articles. That would simply be wonderful. Stubs usually don't give much information and creating them just so we can say the page exists in the en-wiki doesn't help much. It would be better to leave the links red. Don't forget that stubs also take away the chance for our articles to be picked for DYKs on the main page when they are finally completed because they no longer qualify as "new" articles. But we'd love to have your contributions of full translations advertised on the Portal and perhaps picked for DYKs both on the Portal and the Main Page. That would be great.
Both users seemed to think this is reasonable. My thinking is that if we list an article there it should be complete, otherwise we have some people only creating stubs just so they see their name there. Do you agree? --Mmounties (Talk) 01:40, 25 February 2006 (UTC)
- I think over time the list will probably be a certain length and one week seems to be a reasonable length of time considering people do not necessarily check in every day. We won't be having 3-4 new articles from every contributor every week in perpetuum - it's just not possible. So I imagine when springtime arrives and people spend more time outside it'll shrink a little. But even if it gets a little long at times I think it is a nice little pat on the shoulder and great incentive for people to contribute, giving them a feeling of accomplishment and acknoledgment. If it serves that purpose, I think we're better of continuing as we do now (unless things really, really take of). I agree on the stubs with you: a finally completed stub should be listed, no matter how long it was sitting there as a stub. In essence that IS a new article. --Mmounties (Talk) 06:36, 25 February 2006 (UTC)
Great idea, I'll have a look at it and see what I can do. Thank you. Maybe I will bring up the topic about German political duties. Dreadlady 05:53, 27 February 2006 (UTC)

Re: Verjnuarmu and Muanpiällinen helevetti
Ya, they were song lyrics, I speedily deleted them, since it's pretty much impossible that the lyrics to songs that were on an album published by Universal Music weren't copyrighted. The Muanpiällinen helevetti article doesn't really need translation either, since it only contains the names of the songs (and as such, I'm about to merge it with the Verjnuarmu article, since there's not much other content).
Cool! It worked!
Just checked the Portal to update the news and perhaps the DYK and saw the new month's article and picture is up. Not that I really doubted it would work... Very nice work! --Mmounties (Talk) 03:20, 2 March 2006 (UTC)

Thanks so much for dropping me a line. That really means so much. I know being able to copy and paste makes reporting so much easier for me (like in afd, or copyvio). Thanks again.--Esprit15d 13:35, 7 March 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for your support in my RFA. The final vote count was (66/2/3), so I am now an administrator. Please let me know if at any stage you need help, or if you have comments on how I am doing as an admin. Have a nice day! Stifle 17:02, 7 March 2006 (UTC) |
Thanks
Yea, our software release is almost out the door. That more than anything kept me away (although, admittedly, editing wasn't as much fun when I did have time to check in during the last 10 days). But if I stare at the screen all day long until late at night, I just don't have the nerves/brains for this, you know? My percentages? I tripp up over them all the time myself too but I figured, over time, it'll likely get there, so I'm not too worried. I couldn't use 100 (I already had more than that on my list alone) and I didn't feel like taking out a calculator for updating. So this was personal little compromise. :)
On a different note, I felt bad for you for using the noticeboard to settle this little battle but I felt it was important to insist on a real discussion if for no other reason to get it resolved, once and for all. Now that's done, and actually, I'm quite happy. I feel we've accomplished something. And now I'm cleaning up my own mess and then I'll get on with things. I'm proud of you though. You held up the fort quite nicely there. :) --Mmounties (Talk) 02:02, 9 March 2006 (UTC)
- I agree, and just link the substantive discussion to the page you created with the standard language. That way it'll be there (and we'll be able to find it ) when we need it. --Mmounties (Talk) 02:22, 9 March 2006 (UTC)

Hello,

My RfA
Hey Kusma/Archive 2, how is it going? Thank you for supporting my Request for adminship! It passed with a final vote of 73/1/1, which means that I have been granted adminship! I look forward to using these tools to enhance and maintain this wonderful site. I will continue regular article/project contributions, but I will also allocate a sizable portion of my wikischedule toward administrative duties :) Thanks again, and if you have any questions/comments/tips, please let me know! — Deckiller 04:26, 10 March 2006 (UTC)
Malplaced dab: Daniel debarcle
I didn't end up fixing your Malplaced dab request, and have removed it from the list. The reason is in the history of Malplaced dabs.--Commander Keane 08:05, 10 March 2006 (UTC)
Freiberg Cathedral
Nice job there. Question: do you know where in Boston they copied that Golden Gate? --Mmounties (Talk) 04:44, 11 March 2006 (UTC)
- Unfortunately not -- I just copied that from Goldene Pforte, where it was added by an anon with the summary "Mündliche Information", and I couldn't google it. I'll remove it for now as unsourced and unverified. Kusma (討論) 21:52, 11 March 2006 (UTC)

Tawkerbot2 and the reversion of your edit(s)
Hello, Kusma. You may have noticed User:Tawkerbot2 reverted one or more of your edits and perhaps left a message on your talk page. Wikipedia recently experienced a database malfunction, causing Tawkerbot2 to misidentify legitimate edits; hence the reversion of your edit(s) and the message. The bot has been temporarily disabled until the problems are rectified. Thanks. —Wayward Talk 19:00, 13 March 2006 (UTC)
- After Tawkerbot2 misidentified one of my edits as a blanking, I misidentified (due to the same database problem) his edit on my talk page as a blanking, and so reverted it (that's why this vandalism warning isn't visible here). Kusma (討論) 09:29, 14 March 2006 (UTC)

Template:afd2 starter
Thanks for letting me know about the problem. The system doesn't replace simply using "pg=pagename". It's just supposed to be an easier was for new users to finish listings. I've fixed the problem by substing the {{subpagename}} using some sketchy template syntax. Superm401 - Talk 13:21, 16 March 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, I noticed these plans concerning the featured articles, which is why I rv'ed my edit. I just thought that the article about the prince-electors had been there quite a while, so I wanted to replace it.--Carabinieri 21:23, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

former queen of Greece
Hi Kusma, so will you vote to oppose the move from Anna-Marie of Greece to the invalid Queen one?ALEKSANDAR 14:20, 24 March 2006 (UTC)
Kusma, there is no article that links to Catholicism (disambiguation). It is simply an unnecessary and redundant page. There is no reason not to delete it. --Hyphen5 00:31, 25 March 2006 (UTC)
Hi
Hi Kusma, and thank you for taking time to vote on my RfA. I understand that my last 6000+ edits were not sufficient to convince everyone that edits like some of my early ones would never be repeated again. Of course, I'll continue working the way I've been since November, and hopefully would develop trust of more wikipedians in future Regards, and I appreciate very much your kind support. deeptrivia (talk) 03:37, 26 March 2006 (UTC)
Translation of German pages
Hi Kusma, and thanks for your note. I see from your user page that you sometimes translate from German into English. The German Wikipedia is particularly good on opera and we at at the Opera Project are always grateful for help with translating.
There is a list on the Wikipedia:WikiProject Opera page, under the heading 'Can you help'. One example would be the composer Hans Werner Henze. Regards. - Kleinzach 14:23, 26 March 2006 (UTC)

Hi
Why, you pay close attention. My goodness. I only just got it up. I needed a break from packing and 3 times losing hours of translation on Kaiserslautern (my sons sent me stuff that opens up in Windows Media Player and when I tried to close it, I closed IE instead. You can imaging how I p-o'd I was with myself the third time it happened! :-/ ). I just hope I still get it done before I have to go off-line for the move. Hope all is well. --Mmounties (Talk) 06:04, 27 March 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for supporting/opposing/commenting on my request of adminship, sadly the result was 54/20/7 an thus only 73% support votes, resulting in that the nomination failed. As many of you commenting that I have to few main-space edits, I'll try to better my self on that part. If you have any ideas on what kind of articles I could edit, pleas send me a line. :) | →AzaToth

Date templates
Are there more? Could you create a category for them? My full wishlist was here, where people pointed me to the rather comprehensive fr:Catégorie:Modèle calculant une date. What I would like to see most is somthing like {{day+1month}} or {{day+1day}} so constructions like Today is day {{CURRENTDAY}} of {{CURRENTMONTH}} can be paralleled by Tomorrow is day {{day+1day}} of {{day+1month}}. I just need the templates to make sure tomorrow's and next month's Portal:Germany won't have any formatting erros, but I'm sure there's many other uses. Anyway, thanks again. Kusma (討論) 04:39, 27 March 2006 (UTC)
- I have created {{day+1}}, {{day-1}}, and {{datewarn}} with {{month+1}}, {{daycap}}, {{NextYear}}, {{LastYear}}, {{leapday}}, and {{unleap}} as supporting components. Using {{datewarn}} returns 'December 23, 2024' for the sort of 'one month ahead view' you were talking about. On your wishlist you mentioned an idea to use these to create a view of the Main Page for the next day, which has actually been done at Main Page alternative (tomorrow). The day +/- 1 are also being used to allow forward/backward browsing at Wikipedia:Tip of the day/April 20, 2006 and subsequent dates. Finally, constructions like {{day+1|{{day+1|{{day+1|{{day+1|{{day+1}}}}}}}}}} work (i.e. 'November 28'), but compound the already considerable kludginess of the method. --CBDunkerson 13:20, 27 March 2006 (UTC)
No translated passage from the article was provided on the article's talk page, and as I'm unfamiliar with User:Kirbytime, I don't know whether to trust his judgment on whether the subject is notable or not. As such, I don't think I can back a deletion until I see some input from other users reinforcing that opinion, or a sample of the article to let me exercise my own judgment on the matter. If it were a copyvio or something like that, of course, it'd be another matter entirely. -Colin Kimbrell 21:41, 27 March 2006 (UTC)
- I agree that Dimcomputer is delete-worthy, but I can't really put the two in the same basket (unless the content of Dimcomputer is the English-language equivalent of شهاب الدین حبیبی خوزانی). I just think that a deletion where the majority of editors basically taking the content of the article on faith is too controversial for {{prod}}.-Colin Kimbrell 22:02, 27 March 2006 (UTC)

Vandalism by 194.83.25.10
Hi Kusma. I notice that recently you warned a user IP that if they vandalised another page on wikipedia, that the user would be blocked from editing without further warning. I have just reverted more vandalism by this IP on the Bob the Builder article. I don't know how to refer for blocking in vandalism cases, could you please pass this on to relevant parties or block the user/ip yourself if you have the power to. Thank you. Sitt Article
I wrote the material myself. I did not realize that if it appeared on my website, I could not contribute it. Or can I? Is there some way to give Wiki pedia a heads up to let them know I am contributing material I have already written and put on my website? Or does Wikipedia not want any material that appears elsewhere on the web? Yours sincerely, Santo Neuenwelt
Sitt Article Revisited
Hello Kusma, I have taken your advice (and that of another Administrator Alabamaboy who deleted other contributions I made) and have sent Wikipedia a release under the GNU use license to allow the use of the material which appeared on my website. I gave them a list of all of my contributions and hope that they (including the Sitt article) can be restored because I am not sure I have the time to do it all over again. Anyway, thank you for your help. Yours sincerely, Santo Neuenwelt.

Ute Geweniger, also admin
Hello Kusma. Thanks for doing the interwiki and listing the bio. Yes, at the moment, I am creating a few more German swim bios such as Petra Schneider and will need to create more for Cornelia Sirch, Anke Mohring and Silke Horner, because they are redlinks on the list of Swimming World Swimmers of the Year, which I have submitted to Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/Swimming World Swimmers of the Year. If they are not written with the necessary German accent markings, could you change them for me please??
Also, I saw on the "List of non-admins with high edit count" that you are interested in becoming an admin (your name was bolded). Are you still interested?? Regards, Blnguyen | Have your say!!! 06:41, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
I noticed the revert. As you know, I added both changes (the new version and reverted changes). I'm a little bit of a template fanatic. I like them to be worded well, do a lot of automation, and be sexy. Unfornately, it did seem that the new version left alot of them orphaned. So, I was planning on just going with your revert. Many templates have two versions, so maybe we can just go that route, for more saavy users who check this alot, they can use the other version. Whatver, I'm not very opinionated or controversial.--Esprit15d 22:13, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
- That's a good idea, but outside of my area of expertise. But I'd support such a development. PNT gets a little neglected since it isn't as used as, say, AfD, and I think that's why some of the people who use it aren't as familiar with the process.--Esprit15d 22:23, 30 March 2006 (UTC)

Hi Kusma, I've responded to your keep votes in RFD, and I'll hope you'll reconsider. I oppose keeping misspelled redirects on principle, but even if you disagree, in this case the misspellings are so flagrant that I doubt other readers will be able to reproduce them.
