Welcome to the Military history WikiProject!
[edit]Hi, and welcome to the Military history WikiProject! As you may have guessed, we're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of topics related to military history.
A few features that you might find helpful:
- Our navigation box points to most of the useful pages within the project.
- The announcement and open task box is updated very frequently. You can watchlist it if you're interested; or, you can add it directly to your user page by including {{WPMILHIST Announcements}} there.
- Most important discussions take place on the project's main discussion page; it is highly recommended that you watchlist it.
- The project has several departments, which handle article quality assessment, peer review, and project-wide collaboration.
- We have a number of task forces that focus on specific topics, nations, periods, and conflicts.
- We've developed a variety of guidelines for article structure and content, template use, categorization, and other issues that you may find useful.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask one of the project coordinators, or any experienced member of the project, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around! Kirill Lokshin 13:11, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

Edit Summary Requests
[edit]- I have noted that you edit without an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This is considered an important guideline in Wikipedia. Even a short summary is better than no summary. An edit summary is even more important if you delete any text; otherwise, people may think you're being sneaky or even vandalizing. Also, mentioning one change but not another one can be misleading to someone who finds the other one more important; add "and misc." to cover the other change(s). Thanks! -- Kukini hablame aqui 22:15, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
- Please use the edit summary field when editing on wikipedia. Thank you in advance, Kukini hablame aqui 22:20, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
- You continue to edit without using the edit summary field, for example, here [1]. Please begin using it right away. Thanks again, Kukini hablame aqui 22:40, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit]{{helpme}} I can't understand how to insert pictures and how to make sure they are legal. The explination pages on Wikipedia are so complicatied (Kukar 17:18, 28 February 2007 (UTC))
- Hi Kukar, you requested help. You can insert an image using the following code:
[[Image:Crystal Clear app amor.png|150px|thumb|This is the caption for the example image.]]
- The code above produces the example shown to the right. The page Wikipedia:Extended image syntax explains this further. Copyright is slightly more complicated, and if you let me know which page/image are you referring to, I'll try and help you further (you can post here if you want). Non-free use disputed for Image:Zastava Arms.jpg
[edit]This file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:Zastava Arms.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 11:34, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

Kosovo
[edit]Hello. There's a discussion and vote going on at Talk:Kosovo#Kosovo:_terminology as to whether or not it's better to use Kosovo rather than Kosovan or Kosovar in the Wikipedia articles. You've contributed to Balkans articles in the past and I thought you might have an interest. Cheers. 16:13, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
Image copyright problem with Image:Vrlika i sveti nikola.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading Image:Vrlika i sveti nikola.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI 22:45, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
Duplicate images uploaded
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Image-Vrlika i sveti nikola.jpg. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:Vrlika i sveti nikola.jpg. The copy called Image:Vrlika i sveti nikola.jpg has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.
This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot 23:00, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
Your recent edits
[edit]Hi, there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot 23:53, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
Calm down
[edit]You need to calm down and learn to accept people's edits instead of changing them with no question. I have sources backing up my parts, while you have nothing but petty encyclopedic edits. If this goes further, do you think anyone else will side with you? --Jesuislafete 18:25, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
I don't think that I am anything other than calm. Don't come to a page and start erasing things just because of your own personal view that Serbs never existed in Vrlika. If you have sources show them! Where are they?? Compared to my "petty encycopedic edits" yours don't seem to show up. Who has to side with me? What are you talking about? Maybe I can call my clan to do that for me.
Question are you even from Vrlika? Kukar 18:29, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

I agree, the ANI is a good stop to make. Now you have several editors on your side making the edits you want, which is also good. Biruitorul 01:30, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
- Well, users with names are in practice given more respect and weight than IPs, who, if they're vandalizing or writing nonsense, can usually be reverted without much trouble. So you're on the right track; good luck. Biruitorul 01:39, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
