Indira Radic page

[edit]

I am a frequent visitor to the numerous BiH pages. This morning I found some rather offensive vandalism on the Indira Radic page. I deleted the comment, but wanted to someone know about it because there may be missing info due to the vandalism.

Flag

[edit]

That was not my intention. My intention was to have an infobox for the flag... I even put the settings to a different level so it wasn't national. However, if there is another template, that's fine. --Krytan 00:51, 12 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Nice...!

[edit]

Hi,

Thanks for the writing on my talk page. Well, I really believe that a no-entity-divided Bosnia would be the best for all Bosnians, but sadly the two biggest problems regardig it are:

  • The opposition of a ressurgent anti-Western Russia in the international arena.

But… let’s see what the current UN/NATO/EU administration will do to Bosnia and for Bosnia.

Best regards,

Hello there. I am Kruško and I have seen that you have some discussion with Mr. Rts freak. I suspect that this user is a sock puppet of User:Ivan Kricancic, but he keeps removing tag that I put in his user page. What should I do? Kruško Mortale 15:00, 22 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Live Forever. First of all, I'll say good morning to you. Second of all, I really think the only reason Kruško is calling me a sockpuppet is because I made one edit that went against his point of view. His comments toward me are not very civil and are not in good faith. I also don't even edit Wikipedia very much at all, so I don't think that this kind of hostility toward me is warranted. And another thing is, I talked to Kruško on his user talk page, and I explained my actions to him - stating that I'm on his side and I want to collaborate with him - and he didn't even respond to me, and just kept on going with his accusations. I really am sorry that my first interaction with you has to be like this, but I am just sick of his behaviour. Is there anything you can do? - [rts_freak] | 5p34k 2 /\/\3 23:41, 22 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It is a difficult issue, especially since both of you guys claim that one another are sockpuppets. I left you messages on your user pages. Thanks, Vseferović 16:30, 23 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think I did it wrong before. Need translation please?

[edit]

I have never used this forum before, so forgive me if I am doing this incorrectly. I recently met a wonderful young man on a cruise ship and I googled his name to find out more. I came up with the following article, but I cannot find a translation device on the internet for Bosnian to English. I don't even know if it is him. Is it a common name? The name is Safet Selmanovic. But, I thought I would see if I can get a translation.

This better not be a joke:
Here is the translation:
TWO PEOPLE KILLED IN CAR CRASH ON BOSNIAN HIGHWAY M-5 TRAVNIK, November 28, 2003. - Two people killed in a car crash around noon on highway M-5 close to the town of Gudale in the Travnik municipality. The car crash consisted of a bus owned by "Transturist" from Tuzla and of a car (Opel Astra). The driver, Safet Selmanović, and passenger, Ferid Pašić, of the car were badly injured and died on the way to the hospital. The passengers on the bus did not encounter any injuries. The main reason for the accident was passing from one lane to another.
I am sorry for the devastating news. (hopefully you are not kidding around). Greetings, Vseferović 20:39, 26 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Atentat na Dodika?

Jos jedna balkanska izmisljotina ili je Milo on the run again? --PaxEquilibrium 22:20, 26 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

...a sick joke, if it is.

When I said Milo, I was referring to Milo Djukanovic, and not Milorad od milja. Over in Montenegro there is a whole farce how Milo Dj. is perhaps one of the key masterminds of the alleged "operation". It seems that the other candidate (the radical nationalist one - as if Milorad D. isn't paving his path that way already) is supported by Milo, and the only way to bring him to power is to remove the current one. The chain of economic interests doesn't go directly from the Serbian Republic to Montenegro, but across Croatia & Italy and then Montenegro (allegedly). This might me even a pure joke, but here we are hearing that same repeated phrase 'bout Milo (Italian mafia+other mishchiefs) - to my opinion, that is not just a bad faith cliche propaganda, but whoe is me... politics again.... --PaxEquilibrium 22:42, 26 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Party for BiH is the only party in BH that has some sympathies. Although I think that Dodiksre doing quite a nice job with "denazification" (I think I just made a far too POV term...) by crushing the all-grasping desperate might of the Serbian Radical Party, but the other parties in Banjaluka creek with... you know what. I am neither impressed by the Croatian Democratic Union or the Party of Democratic Actions (both have "democratic"; SRS was at least descent enough to leave out that term... heh).

Just like I said, personal gain probably. The opposing candidate was allegedly one of the dark 1990s dudes and a good friend (and "business" partner) with Milo Dj. while Dodik is really unfriendly towards the current Montenegrin regime (despite of his close friendship with the Speaker of the Parliament Ranko). --PaxEquilibrium 23:05, 26 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

--Еstavisti 23:37, 26 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It is not a joke; it is obviously a different person!

[edit]

Thank you for translating. It is obviously a different person with the same name. It is the only information that came up when I Googled the name. I just left the Carnival Legend cruise ship this morning, where I affectionally gave Safet a goodbye kiss on the cheek. He is quite alive and well. I am sorry if you thought it was a joke. I was just trying to learn more about my new friend. I am looking forward to an email from him in the coming week. Best, Gina from Ohio

No problem, I was worried that this might have been a sick joke. However, I can see that it isn't. To answer your question, Safet is a pretty common name, while his last name isn't as much. (The opposite goes for me.) Vseferović 02:56, 27 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello

[edit]

So I joined on to wikipedia as you suggested. I would like to offer my help as a copy editor to the Wikiproject BiH. As I am new to wikipedia, it will take me a bit to figure out all the details, but as a writer and editor, I think I can help the flow and coherence of these articles. I am very aware of the editing wars that have gone on around the subject matter of the Bosnia pages, so I am not inclined to start messing with content. I believe many of the entries are now really exceptional (Srebernica for one) although some clearly need help (Bosnia (region) entry is, well, lacking). I am in a sense asking to join the project, because although wikipedia is open to all, I have too much respect for the work others have put in to build these entries to start editing unasked. To give you an idea of me (as my user page is blank at the moment) I am a PhD candidate in Archaeology (anthropology) and have given lectures on the destruction of cultural heritage during the 1992-1995 war on Bosnia i Hercegovina and the on-going and often controversial reconstruction. Right, well it is late (even for a grad student who works crazy hours) so I will sign off, just let me know if you and others would like a seasoned set of eyes checking text. Would you be willing to translate a personal letter for me?

[edit]

Hi, I am the one who inquired about the article regarding a Safet Selmanovic. Of course, as stated, it ended up being the wrong person. Well, I am in the process of writing a letter to Safet. He speaks English quite well, and I do assume that he reads it quite well, also. However, I was considering the possibility of including a copy of the letter in Bosnian in addition to the English version. It's a lot to ask, and it's no problem if you don't want to do it. It's also kinda personal, and I would probably be a little embarrassed to have an outsider read it, but it is important to me that the correct meaning of my words be understood. And, because I am not intimately familiar with Safet's grasp on the written English word, I thought it might be helpful to have a translation in his native language. Post here if you are open to it and the translation can be done privately via email. Best, Gina

No problem. I'll keep it private. Just send it to me via e-mail. (Vseferovic@hotmail.com). Might as well become a member of wikipedia by the way.

—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Edin Sijercic (talkcontribs) 01:34, 15 January 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Could the title be changed? Sandzak is a whole in two countries (very unfortunately, because of the Montenegrin referendum). We need a single page to reflect the Sandzak people.

Colours on Image:Iron_Curtain_Final.svg

[edit]

Hi, I'm wondering about the two different tones of gray in your Iron curtain images. First I thought that the dark gray countries were communist but non-Warsaw pact, while light gray were non-communist but non-NATO -- this would be a useful division. However, I notice that Albania is also light gray (with red stripes). So now I'm not sure what the dark/light division of gray represents. Reason I'm wondering is that it would be useful to explain these in image captions when the iron curtain images are used, but now I'm not sure what to put. Deuar 14:05, 15 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Deoba

[edit]

No kako god bilo, sigurno necu glasati za 10. Koalicija Lista za Sandzak dr Sulejman Ugljanin, nego za 1. Demokratska stranka - Borist Tadic na predstojecim izborima - i voleo bih kada bi to misljenje dijelili sve Sandzaklije (ma ne, svi gradani Srbije!). --Edin Sijercic 15:30, 15 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Lista

[edit]

http://www.sanjak.org/

Vidi anketu.

I u BiH???

Thanks for your note about "Bosniakophobia". On a slightly different subject, can I impose on you for a translation of http://www.24sata.hr/articles/view/35698/?style=STypo and an opinion about Talk:Srebrenica massacre#Lewis MacKenzie? -- Jim Douglas (talk) (contribs) 01:44, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Canadian General Lewis McKenzie is suspected to have raped women in the concentration camp "Sonja" alongside Serbian troops.

The is the not the first time that General McKenzie has been accused of rape during the Bosnian War. It is said that he knew of the rapes and even took advantage of the circumstances and raped himself. The main problem is that he is hiding behind "International Immunity" as the Cantonal Prosecutor of this case states for the "Independent Newspaper" (Nezavisne Novine). Several women, who were raped during the war time, have come foreword against the general.

A woman named Cavka, has pled for the international community to stop helping the general, who should pay for his crimes.

"International immunity" has kept General McKenzie safe from being sent to BiH. The General stated, for "Global and mail", that there was not genocide in Srebrenica and that the Bosniaks, led by Naser Oric, killed thousands of Serbian citizens.

This is my viewpoint:

I did not even know about the case. My viewpoint is that genocide occurred in Srebrenica. That is definite, since 8,000 Bosniaks vanished in several days. I translated this word for word, keeping everything as if it were originally written in English. If he has raped women at a concentration camp, then he needs to be arrested. I support this especially since he was in a concentration camp, which makes matters even worse. He was sent to help the people, not cause further chaos. What do you think about this? Vseferović 02:13, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the quick response. If there were any substance to the rape allegations, I'd be first in line to say he should be prosecuted. The problem, though, is that this is a rehash of very old, completely discredited allegations. I posted some of the background to that talk page, including this and this, as well as MacKenzie's comments about the situation in his book, which was published in 1993. The short answer is that these allegations were originally presented by a Serb war criminal, who later recanted; MacKenzie had never heard of camp "Sonja" at the time of the alleged incident, and as the commander of UNPROFOR, he never travelled alone -- he was always surrounded by troops, with reporters nearby. And a UN investigation completely discredited the allegations; MacKenzie has a letter from Kofi Annan confirming that the allegations are completely without merit. From my perspective, if someone's a rapist, then fine. But we need to follow WP:BLP, and calling a man a rapist is about the worst thing you can say about him; we can't add that to Wikipedia when the charges clearly have no merit, as General MacKenzie apparently explained in this letter: http://bosnjaci.net/egt.php?id=934. -- Jim Douglas (talk) (contribs) 02:47, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Continuation

[edit]

Veliki bosnjacki nacionalista, neprijatelj drzave u Milosevicevo vrijeme, Sulejman Ugljanin, podrzava srbijansku vladu i u neku cudnu ruku i patriota. Sandzak je jedino mjesto gdje Albanci nisu imali probleme.

Montenegrin Wikipedia

[edit]

I see you and Hadzija've been leading a long argument on the Meta.

I myself decided to vote neutral, and leave it in the hands of the majority's wishes.

Truth is that the number of people on the net who speak the Montenegrin language is 0, and I'm afraid that those who would indeed edit it, would just "spoil" it, by writing in Serbian, Croatian, Bosnian or whatever standard. There is simply no one with the real linguistic capabilities to run it, isn't there? --PaxEquilibrium 27 January 2007, 13:53 (UTC)

You wrote: If users are willing to write in their own language then they should be able to express their culture. It might not be internationally recognized, but a majority of Montenegrins say that they speak Montenegrin. (It will be internationally recognized.

Kseferovic, the vast majority of Montenegrins (600,000-650,000 of an 800,000 people) say they speak Serbian. --PaxEquilibrium 14:19, 11 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Are you sure that 95% MNEs in USA say they speak Montenegrin? Isn't English (or American) their primary language? :) Plus, there are hundreds of thousands of Montenegrins (not far from a million according to some) across the globe; of what possible importance could be a meager & insignificant group of several thousand (if that much) people? Are you saying that we should believe the tellings of the minority? Minority having more rights than the majority... isn't that kind-of fascistic? You cannot generalize about the referendum - most minorities (all Croats, Albanians and the greater part of the Bosniacs) and many Serbs voted for independence, too - and it is unlikely that any of them claims "Montenegrin" is their [according to estimates, between one half and two thirds of Montenegrins by nationality voted for independence].
I don't understand anything you say (sorry, man), could you please elaborate? Plus, what does The Serbian population of Montenegro surely believes that the language is Serbian mean? Also bear in mind that you're talking to a (kind-of) Montenegrin right now. --PaxEquilibrium 18:33, 11 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Whatever it is, I'm glad for it -- but could you give me a brief summary so that I know what to be happy about? ;)Nightstallion (?) 07:29, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Also, Flag of Republika Srpska now states that the entities have until 2007-07-27 to design new flags and CoA... Is that true? If so, the other three articles should also state so... —Nightstallion (?) 07:32, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

national symbols of entities of Bosnia and Herzegovina

[edit]

Did you happen to come across any English language sources regarding the status of national symbols in Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Republika Srpska? In the talk page you mentioned that it is the final and latest decision, and that flags are being removed from official buildings. I think this is a significant news but surprisingly I can not find any English language media that is reporting this. Thanks. // Laughing Man 17:56, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Just an update, I did locate the English version of the Constitutional Court press release [1], but still did not locate any source that is reporting on it which I still do not understand. In any case, please let me know if you come across anything. Thanks :) // Laughing Man 18:20, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

incorrect revert

[edit]

Kseferovic,

Regarding your revert in Flag of Republika Srpska, please double check what you are re-adding. The press release does not state anything about "nationalistic symbols" or "6 months starting from Jan 27", please point out where you getting this, as your are pointing to the last paragraph from the press release in your edit summary of the revert and I do not see it. For your convenience, I've posted the last paragraph below. Also in the future where possible, please use the official English version when citing this source (as it is available directly from the constitutional court) so other English speakers can verify this as well -- this is the en wiki after all ;). Thank you.

Finally, the Constitutional Court adopted decision establishing that the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and National Assembly of Republika Srpska failed to enforce the First Partial Decision of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, no. U 4/04 of 31 March 2006 establishing Articles 1 and 2 of the Law the Law on Coat of Arms and the Flag of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (Official Gazette of Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina nos. 21/96 and 26/96) and Articles 2 and 3 of the Constitutional Law on Flag, Coat of Arms and Anthem of the Republika Srpska (Official Gazette of Republika Srpska no. 19/92) as unconstitutional. Considering that that established inconformity was not corrected within a time limit of six months from the date of publishing this decision in the Official Gazette of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Constitutional Court established Articles 1 and 2 of the Law the Law on Coat of Arms and the Flag of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Articles 2 and 3 of the Constitutional Law on Flag, Coat of Arms and Anthem of the Republika Srpska shall cease to be in force as of the date this Ruling is published in Official Gazette of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Final text of the decision shall be verified at one of the following sessions of the Constitutional Court.

// Laughing Man 18:16, 31 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oh if that was your revert then I have misunderstood you. The previous decision dating back to March of 2006, stated 6 months. All that was stated in this one was that they are unconstitutional. I am saying that it does not matter if a new flag is designed in two days or 2 months, it is still unconstitutional and illegal. Therefore, we cannot use the current flag, etc. Thanks, Vseferović 18:33, 31 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
What are you talking about? You are the the one who reverted my changes stating something incorrect, and still have not explained your edits above, or corrected your apparent mistake. I will synchronize our talk pages as the conversation is getting disjointed and it seems you are confusing me with someone else? // Laughing Man 20:38, 31 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I have corrected the statement to reflect the source given as I'm not sure what was delaying you to do so. // Laughing Man 05:29, 1 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Personal

[edit]

Hello, if we are going to discuss personal matters, maybe it's better to discuss them here :)

Yes, my name is Muslim, because my mother was of Muslim faith, and my parents agreed that she should be the one to give me my name. My father was Christian, my paternal grandmother was Serb, and my paternal grandfather was a Croat, and I am, as you've stated, a product of a "mešoviti brak" :) I consider myself a Yugoslav, and this is what I have stated on my userpage, and the census as well.

I've lived most of my life being a Yugoslav, and I'm too old to go back to old ethnic determinations, especially considering the fact that I wouldn't know how to declare myself, considering that ethnicity in the former Yugoslavia is really an illusion, and we are all the same people, but we were branded differently depending on which God we worshiped. I hope I've answered your question. May I ask why were you wondering what I declare myself on the census?

I don't think people have to support the opinion of an ethnicity that they belong to. I know many Serbs who think that Serbs were guilty for the breakup of Yugoslavia - does that not make them Serbs? Also, I know some Albanians that would rather go back to the times of the old Yugoslavia, where Kosovo was an autonomous province of Serbia - does that not make them Albanians? I hope you see what I mean. :) --GOD OF JUSTICE 00:19, 2 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The thing is that the symbols are not nationalistic. You see, the Serbian C C C C and the eagle, the Croatian checkerboard and the Bosnian lili, existed before Tito and centuries before the 20th century. The problem of Tito's time was that a sense of ethnicity was so surpressed that in the end it erupted in what we saw in the 1990s. I am glad that I can still consider myself a Yugoslav, and that I can write that in a census and I can have a flag of Yugoslavia in my bedroom (although its about time to clean it :)) even though Yugoslavia does not exist. This is what I support - everyone has the right to their symbol, because it really does make people feel better about their identity and who they are as a people. My ideal country would be a Yugoslavia where everyone was free to express their ethnic symbols, and by this I do not mean nationalism. Just because Karadzic, a nationalist, designed the CoA (and I'm not sure that he did, but lets assume that he did) of RS, doesn't mean that the CoA itself is nationalist. Calling the Serbian two-headed eagle with the CCCC nationalist is something I don't approve of. I also hate when people associate the Croatian checkerboard with the Ustashe; the checkerboard existed long before that... And if you asked me in 1991 whether Bosnia should be split up, I would say NO NO NO!!!! However, look at the country objectively - shit happened (sorry for my rude expression) and the country IS divided. The worst thing to do now it to forcefully attempt to surpress ethnic affiliations and bring the country together. It's too early, too many blood was shed. Maybe in a few decades, but then we'll all be Europe, so it won't matter (hopefully) :) --GOD OF JUSTICE 06:57, 2 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'd like to hear your opinion about what I wrote :) --GOD OF JUSTICE 19:54, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Demokratska stranka - Boris Tadic. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Edin Sijercic (talkcontribs) 23:09, 6 February 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Selam. --Edin Sijercic 21:38, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

copy editing

[edit]

Hi, my laptop died shortly after I joined up as a copy editor, but I have a new one now, and I noticed this afternoon that the article on Srebrenica Massacre is tagged for copy editing. So, I wanted to let you know that I will begin doing this shortly, but this is a page I DO NOT want to touch before I let others on Wiki project BiH know! I probably won't have a chance to start until tomorrow, so ley me know if the tag on this page is not "legit" or you (or other editors) have specific concerns. Hvala, Ciao Lisaveta 20:17, 5 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sarajego image

[edit]

Because I assure you that "Kahriman's" image is NOT copyright free. For one thing, the image is exceptional - Kahriman would have to be a very good photographer, which would raise plenty of questions itself. Two, I've known about that image for years: it's appared all over the net and specifically on several message boards with "pictures of Sarajevo" threads. And lastly, Kahriman has uploaded other pictures (which I have also seen all over the internet before) that have been deleted due to copyright issues. Of course the picture looks beautiful; but when so much suggests that it's a copyright violation, I'm not comfortable with it headlining the article and neither should you be. I placed an alternative image that I had taken of Sarajevo on the top above the infobox, but some anon. user immediately took it off. I'll revert that change and return the image, and if you find a better picture that's free from any copyright issues feel free to replace it. Live Forever 20:04, 9 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Live Forever 20:44, 10 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
