Hi, if you have the time I would like your input on whether to delete the article on Yerzhan Ashykbayev, the Foreign Ministry spokesman of the Government of Kazakhstan. Thanks, KazakhPol 18:39, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for your work, your user name doesn't sound good in Russian though :). I have added an article List of kazakh khans and linked it to Abul Khair Khan. There are a lot of information to expand there. Since you've been in Aktobe you might be interested in writing articles about other little juz khans. Fix the SADR Map

[edit]

The map of countries recognizing SADR is way too complex. Wikipedia suers should be able to tell at a glance which countries recognize SADR and which don't.

Here is my idea:

Western Sahara should be colored black; countries recognizing SADR should be colored green; non-recognizing countries should be left gray.

Simple. Efficient. Useful. 141.166.230.9 (talk) 04:11, 25 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I welcome all readers to make any appropriate changes to the map themselves. If you feel that you can make a simpler and more instructive map, then please feel free to do so. Thanks. Konchevnik81 (talk) 22:17, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You made the map you should be the one to fix it. You know or should know most users don't know how to fix maps. If you didn't want to have to ever fix the map, you shouldn't have produced it in the first place. 141.166.230.9 (talk) 00:15, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
This is not a private website. The map has been released into the public domain. Other maps that I have created and released into the public domain have been edited by users, like here. Likewise, I have made edits to maps created by others, as here. When a person contributes to wikipedia, they do not "own" a map or an article - if others wish to make reasonable changes, they can make those changes themselves. If you would like to make a change, I would recommend that you register as a wikipedia user and learn how to change images (it's not difficult, you can use a simple program like Microsoft Paint). I am not aware that "most" users cannot edit maps - they have the responsibility to learn to make changes themselves! Good luck with your editing. Konchevnik81 (talk) 16:42, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh I'm not claiming you have a legal responsibility, that you own the map. No, I am claiming that you have a moral responsibility - that is logical that you improve the map since you made it in the first instance. As for learning to fix maps, I have made a simple edit request; clearly you are too offended by the idea that your map is ineffective to actually consider that that is actually the case. 141.166.224.83 (talk) 14:52, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
And just for some comparison on this point, consider: Kosovo recognition map: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:CountriesRecognizingKosovo.png versus SADR recognition map: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Foreign_relations_of_the_SADR.PNG ....which is more helpful to users, which is more readable? The answer is Kosovo. 141.166.224.83 (talk) 14:55, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No worries, I'm not offended at all! But quite frankly, this map was a passing interest of mine, rather than personal project or a professional specialty. I respect your edit request, but like I wrote earlier wikipedia is supposed to be a collaborative enterprise, rather than a blog or a personal website, I would much rather that someone else take up the task of editing the map, and perhaps finding objective online material on the subject (rather than Moroccan or Polisario bulletins...doesn't MINURSO have a list somewhere?). Many hands make light work. I suggest that we make a general request to other users. Thanks. Konchevnik81 (talk) 19:28, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

SADR map

[edit]

Hello I would be happy to assist you, but I am opposed to the changes that you want to make. Consequently, you can see how I will not be making them myself. You do not need any special software; just any image-editor that understands the filetype. I suggest you also take a look at Wikipedia:How to edit a page because you are creating incorrect links (see my talk page.) If you need more assistance, please let me know. -Justin (koavf)TCM20:51, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:1934 Montreux Conference.PNG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:1934 Montreux Conference.PNG. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 18:06, 15 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Comitati d'azione per l'universalità di Roma, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Comitati d'azione per l'universalità di Roma is a redirect to a non-existent page (CSD R1).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Comitati d'azione per l'universalità di Roma, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Saudargas algirdas.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the file will be deleted 48 hours after 03:02, 26 January 2010 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Salavat (talk) 03:02, 26 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited U.S. State Department list of Foreign Terrorist Organizations, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Worldwide (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
