Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Knake, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited was Waterbug Records, which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Hi, I have tried to re-format the existing draft page for Kate McDonnell myself so that the references were properly cited but the actual content of the draft I did not write (as visible in the edit history of the draft). I assume you meant the draft page for Kate McDonnell rather than for Waterbug Records. I mentioned the COI just in case. I would love help in editing the draft so that the COI flag can ultimately be removed and the page can be published. It doesn't look like there was any movement on this from when it was uploaded on 7/30 and when I found/edited it today. Knake (talk) 20:09, 1 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi I just did some minor formatting and added a draft tag so it could be submitted for review. However at the moment too much is still unsourced, and as I have no access to the non online sources I can't see how it yet demonstrates WP:MUSICBIO. However if you think she does pass WP:MUSICBIO please do add some more sources and submit for review. Cheers KylieTastic (talk) 11:00, 2 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Hi, @KylieTastic thank you for your help. I'm afraid that I am still learning and don't 100% know what I am doing yet. But it does appear that Kate McDonnell passes WP:MUSICBIO in several ways, although the article may be missing sufficient demonstration of this fact at the moment. For example, she was on Waterbug Records for several albums, a label that seems to pass the stipulations in WP:MUSICBIO - although the label is now defunct. At least one of these albums is catalogued in the Library of Congress as being on Waterbug records, a citation I have put below. Do you have any guidance you can give on what else would be needed to demonstrate she meets the criteria? Thank you so much.

  • Hi Knake, sorry for the delay but I've not really had any time to look, just a quick answer while at work waiting for a task to finish. I have added that citation and a couple of others. If you mean WP:MUSICBIO criteria #5 I'm not sure that would count as Waterbug Records is not a "major record label" but I'm not sure if they were an "important indie label". Do you think she passes any other of the criteria of WP:MUSICBIO? You could ask for advice at the Wikipedia:Teahouse as there should be peopple with more time, or just submit for review and get feedback that way.
