Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Kleon3! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 139 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

Romanesque architecture

[edit]

Please don't delete the English examples of buildings, simply because they are not "pure" Romanesque. The difference between English Romanesque and many examples of Romanesque architecture is that, particularly in Germany, buildings have been so heavily restored that they are almost entirely 19th century recreations, in which all the Gothic, Baroque and Classical features have been stripped away in the interests of "purity'.

In England, most churches, both large and small, have grown, sometimes in a seemingly indiscriminate manner. In the case of Ely, the facade was of a unique Romanesque design, the form of which is still clear despite the loss of the north west tower. The later porch and upper stage of the central tower are Gothic, but the lower stages are intact Romanesque. Had the building been in Germany, these two beautiful Gothic structures would have been pulled down in the 19th century, and the missing round tower at the north west corner would have been rebuilt, so the Romanesque facade would look intact. But this is England, and every part is valued for itself.

Likewise at Lincoln. The magnificent Norman portal, and other elements remain, including two very large Norman towers, extended upward in the Gothic period, but retaining all their Romanesque elements completely intact. This diversity is characteristic of a English medieval architecture.

I moved one of the buildings down to a different gallery, as although it might front onto a square, that view is the eastern apse, not the western facade Amandajm (talk) 06:12, 31 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Copy and paste page move

[edit]

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to give Gondulphus of Tongeren a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Gondulph of Maastricht. This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is needed for attribution and various other purposes. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you. — Mr. Stradivarius 02:01, 20 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your edits to the version of Maastricht School of Translation and Interpreting on the Dutch wiki. Underwhelmed by the ability to accept the contributions of non-native speakers in good faith, I won't be going there again in a hurry myself. Andreas Philopater (talk) 12:29, 7 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I know what you mean. I didn't think there was anything wrong with the article. But unfortunately there are too many people on Dutch Wikipedia whose main 'contribution' is finding fault with others. Thanks anyway! Kleon3 (talk) 14:47, 7 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, have you got a source for 2001 being the date of the merger with Zuyd University etc.? If so, it would be nice to add it to the English version. --Andreas Philopater (talk) 12:35, 7 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The source for the 2001 merger of Vertaalacademie and Zuyd is not a real source: it's mentioned in the Zuyd Hogeschool article on Dutch Wikipedia... Kleon3 (talk) 14:51, 7 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Kleon3, I’m sending you this message, as I have noticed that you made a contribution to the article about charming Gadfield Elm Chapel in Worcestershire, and I thought, that for you it can be interesting to have a look at a new Worcestershire Barnstar, which I designed just a couple of days ago for the very good, but not very active at the moment Worcestershire Project (WP:WORCS) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Worcestershire I think, that the Project of beautiful Worcestershire (as soon, as British weather will become a bit nicer, I’m planning visit the Archaeological sites of Worcestershire, make good photos and then to start an article about Archaeological findings of Worcestershire) deserves to have its own symbol, what will also work as momentum of positive energy, helping to make it more lively; so, as a participant of the Wikipedia Awards Project, I decided to create WORCS Barnstar, using as the central motive an emblem, used even in ancient times — by Worcestershire units at the Battle of Agincour; now this symbol - county's famed black pear - also decorates the Flag of Worcestershire. So, it will be very kind of you, if you will have a look at the page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Wikipedia_Awards and give your support to the Worcestershire Barnstar, if you will like it. Your participation will be highly appreciated. Thank you. Regards, Chris Oxford.Chris Oxford (talk) 22:57, 5 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited The Virgin and Child with St. Anne (van Steffeswert), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Echt (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Enguerrand Quarton

[edit]

Hello Kleon3!

I write because you are the last person to edit the article on Enguerrand Quarton, just over a week ago. I myself only discovered Quarton's work today, on Wikipedia, and so I am by no means an expert. Nonetheless, the work so moved me that I decided to look into the current location of the work "Coronation of the Virgin." I found, contrary to the English Wikipedia article, that the work is actually housed at the Musée Pierre-de-Luxembourg and not at the charterhouse for which it was apparently commissioned. This is attested to on the French Wikipedia page:

https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Couronnement_de_la_Vierge_(Villeneuve-lès-Avignon)

I have never edited a Wikipedia article before, and honestly don't know enough about the subject in this case to provide links for sources; although the website of the museum is clear enough, the actual history (how the painting, during the revolution, was taken from the charterhouse, and in what way the painting wound up at the museum) is something that, really, an expert should comment on and not me. So I thought I'd bring the matter to your attention.

DerAmiMichi (talk) 15:07, 4 September 2020 (UTC)DerAmiMichi[reply]

Thanks AmiMichi, I have corrected the information. Even though there are no independent sources, it is clear that the painting no longer remains in the monastery. Thanks for pointing this out! Kleon3 (talk) 17:17, 5 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Maaslandse renaissance

[edit]

Groetjes,

Sorry about renaming the article without a consensus. Do you mind if we discuss a little bit about the name "Maaslandse renaissance" here? My Dutch is too poor for me to be as concise as I'd like. Thanks! Klow (talk) 15:45, 17 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Klow/Quintin,
I'm glad you want to discuss this. I felt slightly bad about reverting some of your edits yesterday. The problem is that both the Dutch and French names for this architectural style – although not very well-chosen – are well-established by now, largely thanks to Timmers and Lejeune(?), if I'm not mistaken. So, we're stuck with those.
I don't think an established English name exists. Both 'Mosan Renaissance' and 'Mosan style' are problematic, as neither describes very well what the style is about. I also agree with Jonbod that 'Mosan style' would be confusing, as it generally refers to the Romanesque period in the Meuse valley. 'Mosan vernacular style of the 17th-century' describes it better, although rather "a mouth full", as we say in Dutch. Also, I don't think we should be inventing names of architectural styles on Wikipedia. Kleon3 (talk) 19:14, 17 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
