Gaspard van der Heyden

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia and thanks for the much needed contribution on Gaspard van der Heyden. If you get a chance to to find more exact references to the sources you mention please add them. Web resources would be particularly welcome. Peter Mercator (talk)

Thanks for the welcome, I cribbed most of the references I used straight from you're fantastic work on the Mercator page. Most of the books that differ have the relevant pages available on Google books, I'll try to add more links on the next round of edits to the page. I think it still needs some work, so I'd value any tips and ideas you have. I'm a van der Heyden, so serendipity seems to demand a collaborative effort between us. ;-) Kissmykumbaya (talk) 05:17, 28 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Carry on the good work. You can take anything of mind that you can find. Just guard against over duplication for then zealous editors will come along and criticise. Thus one article may discuss the rudiments of a topic and another may have full details but both shouldn't have full details. There is a very rough user page which may provide some more links for you. It includes stuff which may eventually go into the Mercator biography.

Some minor comments on your on the lead and first para only. 1) I tend not to put references in the lead if the points are covered further down the article. 2) Your referencing method is fine for a short article but for longer articles I prefer to separate notes/references from an alphabetical bibliography. It's more complicated but I prefer it instead of having a list of works in place order only. 3) Use of block capitals in references is really ugly. 4) Your first section needs more references unless you are suggesting that it's all in De Smet (in which case the ref should be moved up and, if necessary repeated). Where are the biographical details from? Recorded where? Where is the letter of Gogienus found? Was Danticus really a policeman? 5) I tend not to use elisions like he's. 6) Plausible is a difficult word in a wiki. Plausible to whom?

Don't think I'm carping overmuch. All will be improved in due course. May I suggest that you get in touch through email (via my user page and after placing your one of your own emails in preferences ). It would be good to know your background. Peter Mercator (talk) 16:42, 1 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2020 Elections voter message

[edit]
Hello! Voting in the 2020 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 7 December 2020. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2020 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 02:47, 24 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
