Work on Amy Sherald article

[edit]

Hi Kiraface -- I'm Cloud atlas, and I've edited the Amy Sherald article recently. Thank you for adding to it -- especially for adding sources, which is a difficult thing to do! I made some changes and copyedits to what you did, which you can see with this diff. There's still a lot more work that the article needs, and I haven't been able to get around to spending much time on it. Please let me know if you're interested in collaborating -- I have a list of sources that we could go through. Or let me know if you need any other help being new to Wikipedia -- we're glad you're here. You can reply to this message by editing the page and adding your response under mine, and then publishing. -- Cloud atlas (talk) 23:17, 4 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Cloud atlas - thanks for the copyediting help. I'd be happy to continue working on this article with you! --Kiraface (talk) 03:57, 5 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Kiraface -- I'm sorry for the delay; I just got back from traveling. I have a Google Alert on Amy Sherald, and so I just made a list of the links that have turned up about her over the last couple weeks. They're here on the talk page of the article. Maybe we can go through those sources to see what information can be added to the article from them (keeping in mind that we need to make sure that each source is reliable. On that same talk page, I also asked you (and another user) a question about some styling in the article. Thank you for collaborating! -- Cloud atlas (talk) 05:27, 10 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Ryan Dorsey moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Ryan Dorsey, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Thanks, user:I dream of horses, I had the article in my sandbox and was going to update it by section, but you moved it before I was able to complete. I just submitted for review. --Kiraface (talk) 21:34, 8 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Unsolicited advice for next time: Put the references in before you move it to mainspace.
You're smart enough to use a sandbox, so this probably won't happen very often. I dream of horses (talk) (contribs) Remember to {{ping}} me after replying off my talk page 04:16, 9 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Kiraface -- while I was on your talk page, I noticed this notification about your article submission. It is definitely annoying when an article is rejected. I'm from Maryland, so the topic caught my eye. I double-checked the policy on notability for politicians, and it does look to me like Dorsey does not make the cut. The policy says that notable politicians are either statewide or national, or they have received significant press coverage. From some googling, it looks like Dorsey has received some local press coverage -- but I think he would need to be profiled in the Baltimore Sun or a magazine or something like that in order to meet the criteria. Do you know of any source for him like that? What do you think? -- Cloud atlas (talk) 05:31, 10 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, Cloud atlas (talk · contribs)! I did add more citations last night including a profile and interview from the magazine Bmore Art and several links to the Baltimore Sun (I was previously being blocked from the content from a paywall). Let me know what you think of those additional citations. --Kiraface (talk) 13:26, 10 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Kiraface -- I added some copyedits to the article just now, and I also see that you've added some stronger sources. I have a couple recommendations before you submit again:
Let me know what you think of this, and I am happy to take a look at any progress before you resubmit. I think with these additional sources, the article may be sufficiently notable. -- Cloud atlas (talk) 05:11, 11 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
