I'm taking an extended break from Wikipedia, so I won't respond to any messages left here. So if you harbor a burning desire to troll, look elsewhere. Kinkyturnip works best alone, although he does like the occasional chat with other pop culture mavens.

Kinkyturnip takes long breaks from Wikipedia when editing becomes a mash-up of Sisyphean tasks and Zen sand paintings destroyed by cyclones.

Yeah, some like to practice their novel writing skills here. Have you seen the A Dirty Shame article? Jeez! And this is after a day of trimming! I put all those tags on "that" article, limiting it to 5 at the risk of becoming a "wikihole". Some day we should attack it with quality edits and show 'em how it's done. As funny as it is I really hate for there to be such a terrible page on Wiki. MikP talk 22:29, 9 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I did this rewrite recently I'm sure it could use a lookover. Thanks! MikP talk 21:06, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Kinky, do you have time for a look over? Perversion (film), The Bloody Exorcism of Coffin Joe not yet but tomorrow: The Strange Hostel of Naked Pleasures Thanks. Mike. MikP talk 17:39, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the changes they are all great. I'm having trouble with cast credits--he is notorious for quickly flashing the actors names on screen without the characters' names, and the web isn't much help! I'm in Auburn so I'm frying too. Both ways. MikP talk 22:40, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey K

[edit]

Due to a formatting error in my clever assed signature, I inadvertently created a new talk page where all my messages have been going for 2 weeks! I am a dink!! Anyhoo I stumbled upon the page when I clicked the talk link in my sig. It's fixed now. I would most definitely buy that Marins set, I've never heard of it. I would just die for it. Is there just one? I'm struggling with The Strange Hostel of Naked Pleasures. Classic trash that's difficult to describe but it's absolutely awesome.

Thanks for the encouragement, it does mean a lot.Mike P (talk) 16:38, 28 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Kinky—Bud you just made my day, you are just a trip. I don't know how you want to do it, I'm in Auburn. I'll hide my address at the top of my user page on the edit layer, if that's ok or let me know what you decide. Signed, a very thrilled Mike P (talk) 00:40, 29 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

K, Chatty Cathy is still on my watchlist from back then and yesterday I rv'd an unsourced new edit that showed up. Now it's back but I don't know enuf about the subject to challenge it in a conflict.Thanks. MikP (WHAT?) 18:00, 12 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That was it, I removed it yesterday but the same person put it back today! I'm still enjoying the JMJ set. I love it when (in "Midnight") Joe's wife serves his meatless Good Friday meal and he shouts "Wheres the beef!". And I didn't know Awakening of the Beast was drugsploitation. It's insane. Also get this...on Babel fish "Despertar do Besta" translates as "waking the Interdicted mule" [sic].

Edits to Bound (film)

[edit]

Hi there, I just saw your recent edits to Bound (film), as it is on my watchlist. You've done a good job (especially on copyediting some of my dubious writing!) but I wonder if I could just make a couple of requests. Firstly, do you think you could maybe make more use of the preview button & combine more of your edits? Looking at the history page for an article and seeing 30 edits in a row... well, my first instinct was "Good grief, what's someone done to the article?!" Of course, then I looked and saw that you've made some really good changes, but the history gets quite clogged when you make loads of small edits in a row. Secondly, could I persuade you to use edit summaries? They are really helpful to other editors. It's not that easy to see some of the changes you've made just looking by comparing the differences. Plus, it makes it a lot easier on people who are patrolling recent changes as they are more likely to suspect vandalism & check an edit out if there is no edit summary. Lastly, could you make sure you only mark edits as minor if they really are minor, and don't change the meaning of a sentence in any way. Taken over all, your edits to the article had more than a superficial effect, yet every one was marked as minor.

Anyway, I hope I don't sound too nitpicky as I realise that you're an experienced editor who does a lot of good round here. It's just that those things I mentioned, particularly edit summaries, really help out other editors. Oh and by the way, I removed the flagicon you added per Manual of Style (flags) and numerous discussions at the Film Wikiproject. All the best, --BelovedFreak 16:20, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The Dusty Springfield article has not met GA criteria and has been failed. I really wanted to take this all the way to GA status, but it is taking too long, and I have to move on now. There are still sourcing issues to be dealt with, and coverage of Springfield's life and career needs more attention. SilkTork *YES! 13:44, 28 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Testing shows that levels affect bolding and size of characters in heading, but that Wikipedia's default spacings before and after the words in the heading do not affect either. The result is the same.

Hello. Please create an account and user page so I and other Wikipedia editors may respond to your messages directly.

As to your request: I have almost zero interest in fashion. If you peruse my edit history (contributions), you will see my interests are varied. However, I love pop culture, especially film and music.

In short, I'm probably the last person you would want to edit a fashion article. But don't despair! Just find a dedicated fashionista and solicit their help. Your messages are always polite, so I'm sure you'll be successful. Cheers and good luck!

Please ignore message posted to your talk page by mistake. My phone is on the fritz and routed my message intended for another user to you by mistake. Sorry for the tech snafu. Cheers. Kinkyturnip (talk) 19:51, 13 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Homosexual agenda, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Per se (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Thanks for the c/e on various rail articles

[edit]

Hey Kinkyturnip, Your name has been showing up on my watchlist a lot these days. Thanks for your efforts at a badly needed extra set of eyes on those articles. If you're feeling up to it I'd be curious for your take on the article for Southern Pacific Railroad. Long story short, IMHO, that article is a mess right now. There has been an editor, who has made good contributions, but is insistent on filling the article up with technical details about the numerous corporate re-organizations about rail companies. (He's been doing this on several articles, but the article for SP railroad is by far the most extreme case). Myself and a couple of other editors have tried to make our case as to why this is not helping the article, without trying to ruffle any feathers (as again this editor has contributed many things that have helped the article IMHO). I've argued that ANY company that has been around for 100 years has had numerous corporate re-organizations and corporate structural changes are only of interest to a small sub-set of people, it's not helpful for a general audience encyclopedia. I have tried using the analogy with the Coca-Cola company arguing it more important for the lead of that article to that "Coca-Cola corporation is a beverage company whose flagship product Coca-Cola is one of the most globally sold beverages and most most widely known trademark in the world" and not "The modern Coca-Cola Company is the 4th iteration of the company. Technically there have been 5 companies named Coca-Cola but the 4th version did a reverse merger with the 5th and is the surviving corporate identity today" However, this approach has fallen on deaf ears. Perhaps someone like yourself, could offer a fresh perspective to both of us? Dave (talk) 17:36, 3 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for changing page back to previous version. I agree: ours is clearer, flows better and fixes grammar flaws while nixing plotbloat. I know little about process WP admins use to referee edit wars & I'm not sure if you're asking me to notify admins or anonymous user(s) [or neither & you simply want me to watch page and undo edits which degrade instead of improve article]. Lemme know. Cheers. Kinkyturnip (talk) 19:42, 13 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

"I've been working on the railroad..."

[edit]

Thanks for heads-up on other rail articles that need attention. I'll take a look. BTW I totally agree with your point about how editors should strive to write for a general audience, not a tiny minority of obsessives [although I added more than 50 edits to California Zephyr, so guess that makes me obsessive too]. Today I got the added treat of numerous railway lines rendered in ALL CAPS, so I just spent time cleaning that up. UGH! I wish Wikipedia would make new editors take a copyediting test before allowing them to make changes. Or else they can change their motto to "the encyclopedia that anyone can edit — but probably shouldn't". Kinkyturnip (talk) 17:47, 3 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Awesome, thanks! Dave (talk) 18:35, 3 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thanks for your edits on the Homer's enemy page. Unfortunately, I'm getting hounded and trolled by the IP who vandalised your edits. I changed their edits and they're cross. They have a problem with MOS:POSS that they're not prepared to let slide.
