Welcome/How to become an administrator
[edit]I am not Boing! said Zebedee, but I am someone who watches his talk page. To become an administrator, you need to file a successful request for adminship. However, I strongly urge you not to run for adminship. !Voters at RfA tend to look for at least several thousand edits over a period of at least ~9 months, good communication skills, and a broad range of experience around the site; I applaud your enthusiasm, but I'm afraid that with only one edit, you are not ready to become an administrator at this time. There are still plenty of ways you can help; the template below should list many of them:

[edit]Hi King Finland, and welcome to Wikipedia - I've left you a welcome message above, which contains a lot of useful links that will help you find your way around Wikipedia, and Dylan620 has provided you with some very useful stuff too.
As for becoming an admin, the page at WP:RfA gives quite a good overview of what is required and explains the actual procedure. You will note that it says "The community grants administrator status to trusted users, so nominees should have been on Wikipedia long enough for people to determine whether they are trustworthy. Administrators are held to high standards of conduct because other editors often turn to them for help and advice."
To become an admin, an editor would need to be able to show the community that they are a reliable and trustworthy contributor, and that they have a good grasp of Wikipedia policies and good communication skills with which to assist others. What that means is that you would need to build up a good amount of editing experience in a variety of areas around the project.
And while there are no hard and fast minimum requirements, it is very rare for anyone to succeed at becoming an admin without having at least around 4,000 edits and 6-9 months experience - though unless an editor is an exceptional candidate, it usually it takes quite a bit more. As an example, this candidate has just succeeded in becoming an admin with around 4,000 edits (though with more than a year's experience and a lot of first class work), but I didn't apply until I'd done about 30,000 edits.
What I'd recommend is that you stick around, have a look over the links in my welcome message and the links that Dylan620 has given you, and see if any areas of work appeal to you - and leave considerations of running for admin until after you've been here for a while. By "blocked", do you mean "protected"? Some pages are protected so that editing them is limited to autoconfirmed users, or even administrators. What page did you try to edit? Or, do you literally mean "blocked"? --Dylan620 (I'm all ears) 20:46, 19 April 2011 (UTC)
