Yosef Haim HaCohen
[edit]Hello. Just to let you know that I have moved the article you created about Yosef Haim HaCohen to Draft:Yosef Haim HaCohen, as it isn't quite ready to go live. You need to make sure that it is fully referenced using the system explained at Help:Referencing for beginners. Once you're satisfied you've done that, there is a button to press on the template at the top of the draft that will submit it for review. Cordless Larry (talk) 07:53, 28 May 2017 (UTC)
- Oh, one other thing: at the bottom of the text, you have written "The article is translated from Hebrew: Brit, magazine of Moroccan Jews, volume 28, pages 62-67, Ashdod, 2009". Is the article a word-for-word translation of that magazine article? Cordless Larry (talk) 07:54, 28 May 2017 (UTC)
Yosef Haim HaCohen entry in English is a comprehensive article which based on several sources:
Brit Magazine is one of the sources.
Another source:
http://www.daat.ac.il/encyclopedia/value.asp?1=3913
and more Historical Jewish Press articles and publications. — Preceding unsigned comment added by KineretVeYarden (talk • contribs) 03:54, 31 May 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks for your reply. Of the portions from the magazine, have you translated them word-for-word? Cordless Larry (talk) 06:29, 31 May 2017 (UTC)
The translation from Hebrew to English includes only general topics from Brit Magazine and many more ideas and citations from DAAT Encyclopedia, Doar Hayom Newspaper from several dates over the years, articles from HaMeasef Journal, the Books that Rabbi Yosef Haim HaCohen wrote: as Minhat Cohen, VaYechalkhel Yosef. Therefore the translation from Hebrew to English cannot be word-for-word, rather interesting collection of information combined and edited with links to references. Thanks KineretVeYarden — Preceding unsigned comment added by KineretVeYarden (talk • contribs) 20:52, 31 May 2017 (UTC)
I continue to improve the entry. Work in progress , to fix the right order bibliography list. Thank you KineretVeYarden — Preceding unsigned comment added by KineretVeYarden (talk • contribs) 01:10, 1 June 2017 (UTC)
- Hello again KineretVeYarden. What I'm trying to establish is whether the draft is a copyright violation. Is the content of the draft, or parts of the draft, identical to the content of the magazine article, just translated into English? Cordless Larry (talk) 07:37, 1 June 2017 (UTC)
Hello Cordless Larry The author of the Hebrew article can be contacted and could provide by fax a letter about the free open to public permission. Do you have a direct fax number to forward? Thank you KineretVeYarden KineretVeYarden (talk) 00:18, 19 June 2017 (UTC) KineretVeYardenKineretVeYarden (talk) 00:18, 19 June 2017 (UTC)
- I'm not sure whether it is possible to fax permission, but if they have access to e-mail, then that could work. The instructions are at WP:DONATETEXT. However, one question I have is whether the copyright belongs to the author or the publishers. If the latter, then it is them that needs to donate the text, not the author. [edit]Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:
- Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
- With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.
This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.
Thank you. Cordless Larry (talk) 07:38, 1 June 2017 (UTC)
