Blocked
[edit]You agreed to a topic ban around music genres, broadly construed. This specifically included the fact that you "would be prohibited from editing articles about music genres". As evidence, I offer this edit where I explained the topic ban, including that quote, this edit where I clarified that your acceptance of the topic ban was broader than just infoboxes, and this edit where I unblocked you after you agreed to the topic ban. Within hours, you then violated your topic ban by editing an article about the music genre, Space age pop, which is explicitly listed as a music genre in the introductory sentence of the article. You are done here. I have reimposed an indefinite block for your blatant violation of your topic ban. --Yamla (talk) 12:28, 10 July 2018 (UTC)
Mistake
[edit]Kid299 (block log • active blocks • global blocks • contribs • deleted contribs • filter log • creation log • change block settings • unblock • checkuser (log))
Request reason:
I apologize. I forgot that I also couldn't edit music genres in genres in general and not just the genres on the page, and I also didn't think minor edits counted. Kid299 (talk) 18:38, 10 July 2018 (UTC)
Decline reason:
I concur with 331dot and Yamla. If you forget that you're under a sanction that was clearly and unambiguously spelled out to you, why should we trust you not to break it again if you are unblocked? Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 16:42, 12 July 2018 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
- As I've already reviewed a block in this matter, I will not review this one; that said, can you understand how it might be difficult to trust you now? All edits count in terms of a topic ban that is broadly construed. If you are going to forget about your topic ban, it is going to be difficult to unblock you. It will be up to the reviewing administrator, but in my opinion in order to be unblocked you will need to agree to a topic ban of music articles period. 331dot (talk) 18:55, 10 July 2018 (UTC)
- I will try as hard as I can to remember NOT TO EDIT MUSIC PAGES, even if the edits are minor. I am a pretty forgetful person and I don't take notes as often as I should. This time, I will write a note down to remind me to never edit music pages no matter what it is I'm editing. I agree to a topic ban of all musical articles. Kid299 (talk) 19:09, 10 July 2018 (UTC)
- As blocking admin, I am opposed to unblocking this user at the moment. I think they are failing WP:CIR; a violation that quickly after the topic ban was placed means I think we are best served by giving this user some time away. However, I do not consider it wheel-warring to override my position here, when combined with a broader topic ban. --Yamla (talk) 19:13, 10 July 2018 (UTC)

Block evasion
[edit]Kid299 was using Special:Contributions/50.247.163.181 before registering a username, and now he's evading his block by returning to the same IP. See the intertwined contributions tool, and these two identical edits. The IP is from Illinois, and Kid299 said he was a resident of Illinois. Binksternet (talk) 03:38, 17 July 2018 (UTC)
- Yeap. Lots of overlap, too. This is a pretty clear case of block evasion and substantially reduces the possibility that this user will ever be unblocked. --Yamla (talk) 09:34, 17 July 2018 (UTC)
"Funk-pop" listed at Redirects for discussion
[edit]An editor has asked for a discussion to address the redirect Funk-pop. Since you had some involvement with the Funk-pop redirect, you might want to participate in the redirect discussion if you wish to do so. Andrzejbanas (talk) 14:15, 31 October 2019 (UTC)
