Please do not write or add to an article about yourself, as you apparently did at Ketan Kadam. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Wikipedians with articles). If you wish to add to an existing article about yourself, please propose the changes on its talk page. Need help getting this article right

Could you please help me with editing this article so that it conforms to Wikipedia rules & regulations? This is my first time writing an article on Wikipedia. My subject is a very well known restaurateur in India. How do I describe his work without making it sound like an autobiography? Your help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Well, I can certainly give you some pointers. Read the pages linked to in blue, as well:

First and foremost, in order to be included in Wikipedia, a subject must be notable. On Wikipedia, "notable" has a very specific meaning - to be notable, a person must have been the subject of significant coverage in multiple, reliable, independent sources. That is the only criterion which qualifies a topic for entry here.
Your draft has no sources. Everything on Wikipedia needs to be verifiable; that is to say, it have been published elsewhere in reliable sources first. You need to find sources to support the information in your draft.
Your draft is not neutral. It reads like a promotional website. You will need to rewrite the entire thing to avoid weasel words and peacocking, and to bring it in line with Wikipedia's neutrality policy. Anything that reads like promotion has to go.
It was also copied verbatim from this blog - Wikipedia cannot host content that has already been published under copyright elsewhere; for this reason I have had to delete the draft. Even if you own the copyright to the text and are willing to donate it, it is still unusable here due to its promotional nature.
Finally, even if Ketan Kadam is notable and sufficient sources exist, you should not be writing an article about him. Your username and editing pattern suggests that you have a conflict of interest with Wikipedia (you either are Kadam Ketan, or you work for him or are affiliated with him). COI editors are, as you have already demonstrated, rarely able to write impartially about their topics, and are therefore discouraged from editing in those areas. Re your question on the talk page: the article is being deleted as promotional, which indicates that it is not written from a neutral point of view and possibly lacks reliable third-party sources. Given that your username suggests a connection with this business, any article you create is suspect from the point of view of neutrality.TheLongTone (talk) 10:42, 9 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Your question

Hello. I saw your question on our Wikipedia talk:Contact us page. Generally, we do not create articles on request, but instead leave that up to interested individuals. However, I have an interest in helping to overcome the systemic bias that sometimes results in our having less coverage of international subjects, and Ketan Kadam seems to me to meet our inclusion guidelines. For that reason, I have created an article at Ketan Kadam which I believe meets our guidelines sufficient to remain.

I would ask you to please not contribute to this article directly. You have twice had articles deleted as overly promotional, and whether you are Ketan Kadam or work with him or simply admire him, your indication that he is inspirational to you very likely creates a conflict of interest for you. There may be information that you know about Kadam that is not included, and you may believe some of the information included is wrong. However, Wikipedia's purpose is simply to accurately summarize what reliable sources say about notable subjects. If it is not printed by a newspaper, magazine or independent industry website, it probably does not belong in the article, even if it is true. Also, Wikipedia has a very specific tone. It may seem too fact-based to some, but that's our goal. The kind of chatty commentary included in earlier versions of the article may be appropriate for Kadam's own website or for a magazine interview or profile, but not for Wikipedia.
