Hello, Kendwallace, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on discussion pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. Welcome to Wikipedia. Your recent contributions to the Wikipedia article Albuquerque, New Mexico are very much appreciated. However, please take a moment to review your contributions for spelling, grammatical, capitalization, and punctuation errors before you save. This will help lessen the amount of copyediting others must do on the article, and will help maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance of Wikipedia. You might want to consider using the Firefox web browser, which has spell-check built-in, installing the ieSpell extension for Internet Explorer, or setting up spell-check for Opera.

This message is not meant to discourage you from editing Wikipedia but rather to encourage the best possible writing from our authors. Please take a look at the Manual of Style and the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. I have removed your paragraph on Mesa del Sol, but I think it would be valuable to have a well-written paragraph on it here, so please feel free to add this material again after you have improved the grammar and spelling. --Uncia (talk) 02:55, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed maintenance templates from Mesa del Sol. When removing maintenance templates, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as your removal of this template has been reverted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. --Uncia (talk) 19:22, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not remove maintenance templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Mesa del Sol, without resolving the problem that the template refers to, or giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your removal of this template does not appear constructive, and has been reverted. Please do not remove the notes at the top of the page unless you have fixed the problem. This article has numerous misspelled words and incomplete sentences and still needs careful copyediting. Thank you. --Uncia (talk) 16:25, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop. Continuing to remove maintenance templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Mesa del Sol, without resolving the problem that the template refers to may be considered vandalism. Further edits of this type may result in you being blocked from editing Wikipedia. Please do not delete the maintenance tags even if you intend to fix the problems soon—first fix the problems, then remove the tags. Thank you. --Uncia (talk) 16:42, 13 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This is the last warning you will receive for your disruptive edits.
The next time you remove the maintenance templates from Wikipedia articles, as you did to Mesa del Sol, without resolving the problem that the template refers to, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia.

Uncia you fix the problem then

Hello from user Hebrides

[edit]

Hello, Kendwallace. I thought I'd drop by and put a note on your page, as we both seem to be working on Mesa del Sol (though you're doing a lot more work than me). I think you may be misunderstanding what those maintenance tags at the top are all about! They are not criticising you, or me, or anybody else who has been working on the article. They are actually an invitation to other editors to participate in developing this article. You see, there are some WP editors who delight in putting in references; there are other people who are very keen on grammar and spelling, and so on. These people look for articles with tags and work on any articles that need their specialist skills.

If you remove the tags before the issue has been completely dealt with, you undermine one of the great features of collaborative writing. Looking at your talk page above, I think that your misunderstanding has generated some serious warnings. So remember, the maintenance tags aren't an attack on you or anybody else. They are just part of the development lifecycle of a wiki article. (I sometimes even tag articles I write if I feel that they need specialist help from somebody else!)

Hope that helps, and thanks for your contributions to wikipedia. By the way, are you related to Quentinwllcs who also seems to be doing a lot of work on these articles? Cheers -- Hebrides (talk) 18:32, 16 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Tejon Mountain Village

[edit]

The article Tejon Mountain Village has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unsourced. WP:CRYSTAL

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Wperdue (talk) 17:17, 9 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have revised the page, and it now has new content. Sincerely, GeorgeLouis (talk) 17:23, 12 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello from user Tangurena

[edit]

Many of the other editors like to see references to web pages elsewhere. It is one of the key ways of making sure that everything on wikipedia is verifiable. I made some changes to Tejon Mountain Village that may help it stay in wikipedia. Maybe they aren't enough, I don't know. Ultimately, it isn't the decision of either of us. Someone else may think that the template {{Kern County, California}} doesn't belong, and they'll chop it off. Oh well.

I've been editing on Wikipedia for just over 3 years, and there is a lot I don't know. One of the things I do is to sometimes look at another page to use as a guideline.

To make references, one puts them inside <ref></ref> tags. Towards the bottom of the page, one needs a section to display them:

==References==
{{reflist}}

One example was

<ref name=KERO>{{cite news
| title = Tejon Mountain Village Approved By Planning Commission
| newspaper = [[KERO-TV]]
| location = [[Bakersfield, California|Bakersfield]]
| date = September 10, 2009
| url = http://www.turnto23.com/south_county/20846864/detail.html
| accessdate = 2009-09-13 }}</ref>

This can be confusing at first glance, but once you get used to it, it makes sense (I'm a programmer, so maybe my idea of sense isn't the same as your's). I gave the reference a "name" (<ref name=KERO>) because I was going to use it again, and that let me use <ref name=KERO/> all by itself each other time. You'll pick up tricks like this as you learn. Don't sweat it.

For a list of various ways of making citations: Wikipedia:Citation templates (I have it bookmarked because I use it a lot). When I need to add one, I usually copy one from that page and fill in the relevant information, and deleting the lines that aren't used.

Maybe this will help, maybe not. Much of the above "warning" type stuff is that there are rules for wikipedia, some folks are sticklers for rules, some aren't, and the rules take time to learn. Don't take stuff personally. Tangurena (talk) 21:30, 13 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

[[User:Spinningspark im sorry then but she still no right delte that page i work hard on that page and talk developers for that inforamtion she should have improve it that not right

I don't know whether you are just pretending to be illiterate in order to make people feel sorry for you, but I suggest you read the Wikipedia:Conflict of interest and Wikipedia:Advertising guidance as I suggested above. If you cannot understand them, read them again until you do. Otherwise you are going to continue to have your articles deleted, and you may even be blocked from editing altogether if you continue to take an "attitude" with those who attempt to improve what you've written. Deb (talk) 07:36, 11 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

[User:Spinningspark i will read the rules and start article agian in my special page this time and follow rules im sorry to everyone

Kenny: Please remember to sign your posts on these talk pages by striking the tilde key four time, like this ~~~~ On most keyboards it is found just to the left of the numeral 1 key (in the upper left of the keyboard). Sincerely, GeorgeLouis (talk) 17:30, 12 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Kenny, you are not supposed to talk to developers and planners — or anybody else — for the purpose of doing a Wikipedia article. That is called Original Research, and Wikipedia is not the place for that. There are other ways to use the kind of information you get first-hand over the phone, not Wikipedia! How about doing your own blog somewhere else concerning city planning? GeorgeLouis (talk) 00:53, 13 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Kenny: Remember to use your sandbox to do extensive editing. Once you've got it the way you want it, just copy the sandbox and paste it into the editing window of the main article. Here is a link to the sandbox I have created for you: User:Kendwallace/TejonVillage . Also remember to use a spellcheck when you are editing. Don't forget to write in complete sentences. Always have a source for the statements you make. Sincerely, GeorgeLouis (talk) 16:58, 12 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Tell us about yourself

[edit]

Kenny: It would be nice if we knew more about you, but don't put it here. I have created a "User Page" for you. Click on the "user page" tab at the top of this page and then on "edit this page" in the new page that will open up. You can read more about user pages by clicking on the following: Wikipedia:User_page#What_may_I_have_on_my_user_page.3F. You can read about me by clicking here: User:GeorgeLouis. There are editors who will help you with your user page if you want. Sincerely, your friend, GeorgeLouis (talk) 17:37, 12 October 2009 (UTC) (Corrections made to the above by GeorgeLouis (talk) 17:47, 12 October 2009 (UTC))[reply]

george is one u talking about is under new section Kend

Yes, you did it right on the other page. You can put almost whatever you want there. But instead of signing your messages on this page "Kend," just type four tildes, like this: ~~~~. That will put your screen name and the date and time after your message. GeorgeLouis (talk) 20:45, 12 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

k will do thanks george

That page looks like a good start, but nobody is supposed to put anything on it except you. If you have any questions for me, or if you want to send me a message, then go to my Talk page and do so, or leave a message here. Either way.

I will look at the Douglass Ranch article that you mentioned over on your User Page. And please delete what you typed there about it.

Remember to sign everything you post here with four tildes. If you don't follow the rules you can be banned from using Wikipedia! Sincerely, your friend, GeorgeLouis (talk) 00:11, 13 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on River Islands at Lathrop requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Bongomatic 22:01, 12 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Kenny, you are not supposed to just copy material from the Internet that other people have written. This is called plagiarism. A reporter from the Sacramento Bee wrote that story originally, and it was put up at http://www.riverislands.com/AN10.html. That's why it should be quickly removed from Wikipedia. If you want to use anything you find elsewhere, you must put it into your own words, or put it between quotation marks, and then cite it in a footnote. How would you like it if somebody took what you had written and didn't give you credit for it? That reporter put a lot of time and effort into it, and everything he wrote is actually owned by his employer, the Sacramento Bee, and you just can't use it anywhere you want. GeorgeLouis (talk) 00:24, 13 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Your articles

[edit]

Hi. It is easy to get lost here. That's why it is better to start small than to write long articles before you have really learned the ropes. For example, you could try to find an article about a lesser-known artist, author or musician, and check to see if all their works are listed - if not, you could add one. Take my word for it, that is the best way for you to start. It still counts as a contribution. Deb (talk) 16:57, 13 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

And by the way, it is not about "obey" the warnings, it is just "listen to" the warnings. No one here wants to order you around, we just try to maintain certain standards:-) Deb (talk) 19:33, 13 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Deb ok try i listen to them thanks (Kendwallace (talk) 21:35, 13 October 2009 (UTC)).[reply]

I agree with Deb. Is there anything else you are interested in besides city planning? GeorgeLouis (talk) 22:45, 13 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

GeorgeLouis No i dont any other interested in besides city planning or new communties being build. (Kendwallace (talk) 01:36, 14 October 2009 (UTC)).[reply]

Douglass Ranch

[edit]

I made some improvements to the first paragraph of User:Kendwallace/Douglass Ranch - at least, I think they are improvements. Compare what I wrote with what you originally wrote (by looking at the page history and seeing what I changed) and see if you can understand why I made those changes. Deb (talk) 11:40, 15 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

[User:Deb|Deb]] thank you making those improvements on User:Kendwallace/Douglass Ranch when do u think be ready to post and can put new river island article on my douglass ranch talk page (Kendwallace (talk) 16:01, 14 October 2009 (UTC)).[reply]

That depends on you. Deb (talk) 23:26, 17 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Deb i was but someone already did before me do u know when river island wikki will be be restore (Kendwallace (talk) 01:41, 18 October 2009 (UTC)).[reply]

You can't use that, because you copied it from the website. You have to write it yourself. Your articles can't be restored until you have done some work on them. Have you looked at the Douglass Ranch article in your user space and do you understand what you have to do? Deb (talk) 10:06, 18 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
