Warning
[edit]Please refrain from hijacking pages as you did with Kedrick Brown. Should you believe the subject you were writing about deserves an article, please use the Article Wizard, which has an option to create a draft version that you can then get feedback on. Also see Wikipedia's disambiguation guideline which indicates how to handle separate subjects with similar names. If you continue to hijack an existing article, you may be blocked from editing. If you have any questions, you are always welcome to ask me on my talk page. Thank you. Ed talk! 18:03, 12 August 2020 (UTC)
Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, Kdb0152. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Kedrick Brown, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Guy (help! - typo?) 10:24, 14 August 2020 (UTC)
Im new to the wikipedia world. I originally was warned about what hijacking was on wikipedia from a prior experience with someone that has the same name of a actor im a fan of. I thought someone had hijacked the article on him so I attempted to correct it. I learned from that warning on what the editing guidelines were on wikipedia ans what hijacking was. In that instance I was incorrect and apologized. I visited a created page of the actor I truly am a fan of ( which was the correct page). So i went to his listed official website on that wikipedia page and tried to add a photo of him. I was then blocked for adding a photo of him from the his official website which again is listed on the wikipedia page about him. I didn't mean any harm or anything I was just trying to follow the guidelines. If I did something wrong please educate me on what that was. Ihave read and understand the Terms of Use and paid editing disclosure requirements. I am not being compensated at all and have no conflict of interest affiliation with onyone in this article. In the future I only intend contribute factual inforamtion on wikipedia. Again if I am going about it wrong please educate me on the proper way or point out to me what I am doing wrong. Thank you. [edit]You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you disrupt Wikipedia, as you did at Kedrick Brown. You have continued to hijack the article even after being warned. Ed talk! 13:14, 14 August 2020 (UTC)
Your account has been blocked indefinitely for advertising or promotion and violating the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use. This is because you have been making promotional edits to topics in which you have an undisclosed financial stake, yet you have failed to adhere to the mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a form of conflict of interest (COI) editing which involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is strictly prohibited. Using this site for advertising or promotion is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia.
If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, please read our guide to appealing blocks to understand more about unblock requests, and then add the text {{unblock|reason=your reason here ~~~~}}
at the end of your user talk page. For that request to be considered, you must:
- Confirm that you have read and understand the Terms of Use and paid editing disclosure requirements.
- State clearly how you are being compensated for your edits, and describe any affiliation or conflict of interest you might have with the subjects you have written about.
- Describe how you intend to edit such topics in the future. Mz7 (talk) 15:11, 21 August 2020 (UTC)
