Hello there from Portugal,
i try to explain it politely, why do you revert me without one word? We don't link countries like Portugal (please read this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Linking#What_generally_should_not_be_linked), and when a player plays abroad we write the country where he plays (like in Tengarrinha's case). Why an edit war over this?
Attentively --Quite A Character (talk) 19:12, 29 June 2017 (UTC)
- No problem, and thanks for the quick reply! As far as i can remember, yes, always like that. I tri(ed) to link a country at least one time (otherwise i would not know why would they have an article on a country if we can't link it), but the fact is that i always got reverted. So, i gave up.
Happy editing/weekend --Quite A Character (talk) 19:42, 29 June 2017 (UTC)
- I think the proper move would be to do what you suggest, if club has changed name we insert the current wikilink of the club's name in the players' pages, then add the name at a given time in history. A good example of this could be Nuno Viveiros, which i now adjusted in the infobox.
Hopefully i was of help, regards --Quite A Character (talk) 22:46, 16 July 2017 (UTC)
(Sorry for the delay, only returned now from a short holiday)I see that the page has already been moved by you, and it was a 100% correct action. If there are enough RELIABLE sources supporting an athlete's sporting name, then you can move the page immediately in the "move" field, no other requirements (other than writing a short summary when moving the page, for example "Moving page per WP:COMMONNAME").
Cheers, from Portugal --Quite A Character (talk) 16:54, 5 August 2017 (UTC)
- FINALLY, news have been disclosed to the public (speaking about Tengarrinha)! Inserted ref in article, all the best to the player and cheers to you. --Quite A Character (talk) 16:10, 14 November 2017 (UTC)
Full name in intro?
[edit]The full name in the intro is not required. Admin User:GiantSnowman confirmed this to me. Stop changing it. BTW, the position doesn't neccesarily need to be after the club.8Dodo8 (talk · contribs) 21:02, 8 August 2017 (UTC)
- There is NO PROBLEM whatsoever to display the full name of clubs in intro or storyline, don't worry man :) We have more important things to worry here than that. I have been here for 11 years and do that 99,99999999999999% of the time, i have not had any problem ever.
Cheers --Quite A Character (talk) 21:25, 15 August 2017 (UTC)
Fernando Varela
[edit]Please choose article name carefully before any move, Fernando Varela Ramos is a footballer also. Matthew_hk tc 17:21, 14 August 2017 (UTC)
- So, please cleanup you mess on "update" the link of a perfectly disambig title Fernando Lopes dos Santos Varela , to the wrong one Fernando Varela (footballer). Matthew_hk tc 17:28, 14 August 2017 (UTC)
My apologies Matthew, I misunderstood the guidelines for the Moving a page procedure. Thanks for noticing my mistake and for taking the time to correct it (there were a lot of hyperlinks you had to move:). If there is anything else feel free to contact me on my Talk page.
Regards, Katz191 (talk) 12:25, 15 August 2017 (UTC)
Hi there KATZ, how are you?
Let's go bit by bit (and first of all, congratulations on moving the page, it was needed yes sir): 1 - box, no need to write ACADÉMICA DE COIMBRA OK? Only one club in Portugal like that (and possibly in the world), no need for the city; 2 - no need for sub-sub-sections in the club career when content is so little; 3 - quite serious in my opinion, without one word you removed two links that are quite useful for Portuguese/longtime Portugal-based players - as is Platini's case - especially FORADEJOGO which is reliable by WP standards (see here https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Platini_(Cape_Verdean_footballer)&diff=794119106&oldid=794115875), please don't do that again; 4 - when a sic template is used, it's to show a word was written poorly in the original article but we copy it in the same way it was written by the journalist/blogger, please do not remove that again, as here (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Platini_(Cape_Verdean_footballer)&diff=next&oldid=794124920; never mind, i have removed said source for reasons i explained in the edit summaries and added a more reliable one); 5 - no numbers needed in honours, especially when it's (1) or (2); 6 - even though NFT.com does not give the player that second goal for Cape Verde, i respected your work and added a source to the international goals chart, that way it won't be removed ;)
Have a nice weekend, cheers --Quite A Character (talk) 21:48, 1 September 2017 (UTC)
- I think i was polite enough to merit a reply, but i could be wrong somehow. I apologize if you felt offended by my comments, not my intention. --Quite A Character (talk) 21:42, 2 September 2017 (UTC)
Ah, vacation, cool! I don't pay too much attention to guidelines, and my approach is quite simple and i think adds detail to the information on clubs names: full name in storyline, compression in box. Regarding the doubt on "Académica", i repeat: i think there is only ONE CLUB with that name in the world, so "Académica" is quite enough in box; if a reader still as doubts when consulting the infobox, they can go to the storyline where they will see the full name "Académica de Coimbra" written, and say "Ah, that Académica" :)
Happy rest, regards --Quite A Character (talk) 20:56, 3 September 2017 (UTC)
- Hello there! No congratulations needed, i don't support Sporting or any Portuguese team, i don't like teams with 20/25 foreign players, what's the point on having an academy then? Regarding your question i agree, i would like to have to box compressed to "Inter" always (or "Inter Milan" as you say), but some users (user?) keep(s) reverting it to "Internazionale" so i gave up. There is also a great wiki-controversy from way back in time, when someone moved the page from "F.C. Internazionale Milano" to "Inter Milan", there has NEVER been a consensus here regarding the better way to present the club's name from what i understand.
Cheers --Quite A Character (talk) 21:34, 16 September 2017 (UTC)
Good first win for Romania, maybe the good fortunes will continue from now on!
A couple of things i'd like to discuss with you, regarding this article: 1 - display of contents: we either have PLAYING CAREER (divided in club and international, no need for "career" then, it's implied) and MANAGERIAL/COACHING CAREER or CLUB CAREER and INTERNATIONAL CAREER, meaning it's preferrable to have two sub-sections, not three. As Mr. Contra has had a very significant career so far (he has even reached the national team), let's go with PLAYING and COACHING OK?
Regarding the managerial statistics section, it's better to leave that as a section and not a sub one, his coaching stats should be separated from those as a player.
Have a nice weekend, cheers --Quite A Character (talk) 17:31, 6 October 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks for helping out, man! A shame about Tengarrinha, all that matters now is that he gets his health back, so young... Marques, well, i cannot honestly say he has had any season without injury problems, so that makes sense :( --Quite A Character (talk) 20:41, 6 October 2017 (UTC)
INCREDIBLE (about Tengarrinha)! The Portuguese web mentions nothing on his disease, I suppose if Poli released a video on their YTube account the family and the player had no problem on making disease public. It seems as though, to Portuguese sports writers/sites, if 99,99999999999999999999% of the news don't have anything to do with the God Ronaldo, then they are of no interest. A pity (note, I improved the player's article the best I could, but did not write anything on his current condition because, even though I trust you 100%, this is a serious matter that needs to be sourced as you surely understand; if we add it to the storyline without a source, it would be removed sooner or later)... --Quite A Character (talk) 10:51, 9 October 2017 (UTC)

Poli Iași
[edit]Nu mai schimba peste tot numele in Poli Iași. De exemplu, in perioada in care se numea Studentesc asa trebuie sa apara si pe articole, nu cu numele nou. E ca la FCSB, acum jucatorii pot avea FCSB in infobox, dar pana in 2017 au tot Steaua.8Dodo8 (talk · contribs) 08:34, 17 July 2018 (UTC)
Restored
[edit]I saw your request. Hkohh can’t restore it as they were only the nominator and not an administrator. I have restored and userfied it for you so it can be improved and updated before being moved back into article space. It is at User:Katz191/Adrià Gallego. Beeblebrox (talk) 20:55, 23 July 2018 (UTC)
Platini - Reply
[edit]Hello there, good morning
that mistake happens to the best, no problem :) About the spacings, I do not understand why people do that, but if it's more comfortable for you go ahead.
Happy editing, from Portugal --Quite A Character (talk) 09:10, 10 October 2018 (UTC)
I was touched by this situation that happened two days ago, and paid my respects to the man by improving (hopefully!) his article, may his mother rest in peace (Mr. Hategan is younger than me)...
I think i got everything right, with refs from several languages, but i don't know for sure if what i wrote in the PERSONAL LIFE section is totally correct (i took it from his Romanian Football Federation profile). Our wiki-friends :@Rhinen: and :@8Dodo8: can also help out if they want ;)
Searching the net while working on this article, found this disgusting piece of garbage (please see here https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/northern-ireland-stars-wife-launches-13886358), people have no shame, making a war out of a sport and doing it through SOCIAL MEDIA, i hate that with all my power. Anyone still thinks football is a party? Certainly not me, i tell you!
RIP Mrs. Hategan, regards to you three! --Quite A Character (talk) 04:08, 22 November 2018 (UTC)
Co-ownership
[edit]We list co-ownership as it is a definitive / "outright" deal, or a definitive deal with a "fancy" buyback. Moreover on Gianmarco Zigoni, he did spent half season in Genoa and scored for their Primavera team. Matthew hk (talk) 17:17, 4 April 2019 (UTC)
- Oh, thanks for the catch. But on a personal note, if he would not have played the half year with Genoa, would it then be ok to not have them in the senior career or do you still have to mention them? Is there a consensus or something? Katz191 (talk) 17:23, 4 April 2019 (UTC)
- I don't think interlacing senior and youth career in infobox is a good idea. He made his professional debut with Treviso, and he played 18 games as a regular . Also, many Serie A club set the age limit of their Primavera team at 19 (instead of 20), and then it became an official rule in mid-2010s, it gave me even stronger reason to consider Zigoni's Genoa career is a senior career.
