First Opponent moved to draftspace
[edit]Thanks for your contributions to First Opponent. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it has no sources. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.
Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. ✠ SunDawn ✠ (contact) 11:11, 6 December 2023 (UTC)
Moved to draft space, nothing like ready.
When you write about a person, you must
- provide independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that they meet the notability guidelines. Sources that are not acceptable include those linked to the person or an associated organisation, press releases, YouTube, IMDB, social media and other sites that can be self-edited, blogs, websites of unknown or non-reliable provenance, and sites that are just reporting what the person claims or interviewing them. Note that references should be in-line so we can tell what fact each is supporting, and should not be bare urls.
- You must write in a non-promotional tone. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic, with verifiable facts, not opinions or reviews.
- There shouldn't be any url links in the article, only in the "References" or "External links" sections.
- You must not copy text from elsewhere. Copyrighted text is not allowed in Wikipedia, as outlined in this policy. That applies even to pages created by you or your organisation, unless they state clearly and explicitly that the text is public domain. We require that text posted here can be used, modified and distributed for any purpose, including commercial; text is considered to be copyright unless explicitly stated otherwise. There are ways to donate copyrighted text to Wikipedia, as described here; please note that simply asserting on the talk page that you are the owner of the copyright, or you have permission to use the text, isn't sufficient.
Before attempting to write an article again, please make sure that the topic meets the notability criteria linked above, and check that you can find independent third party sources. Also read Your first article. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 13:35, 12 December 2023 (UTC)
- This is a translation of the German Johann Christoph Held article, so I used the sources that were used in the German version. Are these sources still not acceptable? KatieMowat (talk) 19:34, 12 December 2023 (UTC)
First Opponent / Germany–Switzerland football rivalry
[edit]Katie, thanks for creating First Opponent (now entitled, Germany–Switzerland football rivalry in order to conform to our WP:Article titles policy). I've made a series of changes which are mostly not about content, but about making the article adhere to English Wikipedia's Manual of Style; you can view those by clicking the "History" tab at the top of the article. I also added some "See also" links, some WP:Navboxes, and adjusted the categories. Currently one of the main problems with the article is the use of WP:BAREURLs in citations; please expand those citations following the suggestions at that information page.
If you will be creating any other articles, please be sure that you adhere to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, including the MOS:. (These comments also apply to your previous Drafts on other topics.) Mathglot (talk) 02:57, 9 January 2024 (UTC)
COPY attribution is required on all of your translations
[edit]I notice that you failed to provide proper author attribution when you created Germany–Switzerland football rivalry, and it is still unattributed.
When you create content in an article at Wikipedia by copying or translating content from a another Wikipedia article (including German Wikipedia), you are required by Wikipedia's licensing requirements to provide proper attribution crediting the original in the WP:Edit summary of your edit. You can see the proper format for an original translation attribution statement at WP:TFOLWP.
If you forgot to add one when you first added the content, you can (and *must*) provide the missing attribution statement as soon as you notice it; this is explained at WP:CWW#Repairing insufficient attribution. Please add an attribution statement following the suggestions at WP:RIA to the edit summary at Germany–Switzerland football rivalry, and to any other article you translated that still lacks it. Feel free to ask below, or at the Wikipedia:Help desk if you have any questions about this. Thanks, Mathglot (talk) 03:08, 9 January 2024 (UTC)
