How can we get this bona fide company on wiki?
Allowfellow (talk) 02:16, 30 September 2009 (UTC) allowfellow
Wait till the company meets Wikipedia's notability guidelines for companies. Until then, can't be done. -- Blanchardb -Me•MyEars•MyMouth- timed 02:18, 30 September 2009 (UTC)
It does meet those guidelines. Please could you pay more notice? Thanks Allowfellow (talk) 02:20, 30 September 2009 (UTC) allowfellow
All I see is one unrelated link and two more links that are to the company's own website. -- Blanchardb -Me•MyEars•MyMouth- timed 02:22, 30 September 2009 (UTC)
madam, if you google boticca.com, you will see how prominent this company is. it is the world's first independent designers' hub. it is the only online shop of its kind that promotes products designed by independent designers all over the world. thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Allowfellow (talk • contribs) 02:26, 30 September 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Allowfellow (talk • contribs)
- I believe that you would benefit most greatly by reading WP:WEB; specifically the Criteria subsection. – Katerenka (talk • contribs) 02:37, 30 September 2009 (UTC)
Hello. I have and believe you are treating the matter with prejudice and judgement. Please shed more light. Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Allowfellow (talk • contribs) 02:40, 30 September 2009 (UTC)
- I do not see how you can possibly construe my comment as "prejudice" or judgmental. If you had read the policy page I linked you to, you would see that your article and its subject fail all three of the guidelines for inclusion for websites. Sorry. – Katerenka (talk • contribs) 02:43, 30 September 2009 (UTC)
I beg to differ. Have you actually studied the article? It does meet some of the guidelines. Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Allowfellow (talk • contribs) 03:06, 30 September 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, I read your article. You have two editors and an admin (who repeatedly deleted your article and then applied create protection) that are telling you that your article does not meet the guidelines for inclusion. It's nothing personal, so please do not take it as such. OliverTwisted left you a welcome message similar to the one at the top of this talk page with many helpful links in it that it may benefit you to read closely. – Katerenka (talk • contribs) 03:09, 30 September 2009 (UTC)
I am not taking it personally at all. I am taking the matter professionally. I understand you have read the article but have you actually done any research on the subject the article was dedicated to? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Allowfellow (talk • contribs) 03:11, 30 September 2009 (UTC)
- Enough to see that it didn't meet the guidelines for inclusion. If you truly believe this deletion is in error, you are more than welcome to file a report at deletion review. – Katerenka (talk • contribs) 03:14, 30 September 2009 (UTC)

Welcome to Did you know...
Hello! I noticed that you've been reviewing a lot of nominations at the DYK suggestions page. Thank you for your help, and I hope you will continue to contribute! As you know, you don't need to be an administrator to review hooks or to move hooks to Preparation area, so your help is more than welcome.
You may already be familiar with the DYK rules by now, but in case you aren't, you can check out the official rules and the Additional Rules. You may also want to look into some useful tools that can allow you to review nominations more quickly: the Cut & Paste character counter is a helpful JavaScript to calculate the length of hooks, and DYKcheck is a script you can install on your own Wikipedia account for more heavy-duty verifying.
The best way to learn is by doing, but here is also a quick reference of the things to check for each hook you review:

Short Question on Dyk
Hi Katerenka. Now that I've added the article to the nomination list, what happens now? When will I know if the article has been accepted or not? Is there anything else I need to do or do I simply wait? Thanks for your reply. Amsaim (talk) 23:23, 6 October 2009 (UTC)
- Hi Amsaim. :) The article that you nominated has been reviewed and approved, so it's just a matter of waiting until it makes its way to the main page. We've been rather slow on updates lately, so it might be a day or two. Hope this answers your question. Warmly, –Katerenka (talk • contribs) 23:25, 6 October 2009 (UTC)
- yes, it does answer my question. thnx very much. Amsaim (talk) 23:28, 6 October 2009 (UTC)
- Incidentally, Giants27 has made an additional comment on your entry. I was unaware that he had other issues with the article. I've removed a POV-y term from the hook, but would suggest you follow his advice on the references. Warmly, –Katerenka (talk • contribs) 23:29, 6 October 2009 (UTC)
- thanks again very much for your assistance. what exactly is the difference between citweb and the normal ref-command line? What effect does the "retrieved" line have behind each reference? Amsaim (talk) 23:56, 6 October 2009 (UTC)
- You're welcome. :) It just shows when a website was accessed. I prefer citeweb over the regular ref-command line as it is much easier to use (particularly if you install WP:REFTOOLS) and it makes formatting easier. Warmly, –Katerenka (talk • contribs) 00:02, 7 October 2009 (UTC)

- Agree with Dylan, although I'd be glad if you could satisfy my curiosity and tell me whether you have previously edited much under a different name or IP. Regards SoWhy 10:54, 8 October 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, I've previously edited under a different name. However, per WP:CLEANSTART "If you decide to make a fresh start, and do not wish to be connected to a previous account, you can simply discontinue using the old account(s), and create a new one that becomes the only account you use. This is permitted only if there are no bans or blocks in place against your old account, and so long as no active deception is involved, particularly on pages that the old account used to edit. That is, you should not turn up on a page User:A used to edit to continue the same editing pattern, this time as User:B, while denying any connection to User:A, particularly if the edits are contentious." The Arbitration Committee is aware of my old account and will be able to verify that this account and the old account have neither edited at the same time nor voted in the same AfDs, MfDs, RfAs, etc and that my old account has a clean block log and is not, nor has ever been under any Arbitration Committee restrictions. Hope that this answers your question. If not, let me know. :) Warmly, –Katerenka (talk • contribs) 17:29, 8 October 2009 (UTC)

DYK, newest articles....
Hi Katerenka. Would you happen to know how I can check if a nominated and approved article for DYK like this one has been or is about to be featured in the Did you know... section of wikipedia's main page? Amsaim (talk) 01:48, 9 October 2009 (UTC)
- We've been severely backlogged lately, so it may be a few days. Your hook is still at T:TDYK. From there, someone will move it to one of the two prep areas where it will then be moved by an administrator to one of the six queues. Once it has made it to the queues, it will be moved to the Main Page by DYKadminBot (talk · contribs) once its queue number comes up. Hope that answers your question. :) Warmly, –Katerenka (talk • contribs) 01:53, 9 October 2009 (UTC)

Hi. This edit of yours, though certainly in good faith, is contra-productive, because it reinserts falsification and POV into the article. It is a revert to the POV version of 119.73.6.155 (talk · contribs), the IP of banned User:NisarKand. Though it may seem sourced to someone who is not into oriental studies, it is factually wrong. There are better, authoritative sources, for example the Encyclopaedia Iranica or Encyclopaedia of Islam, which fully disprove the IP POV edits. A scholarly article on the Ghurids is available online, written by British historian Clifford Edmund Bosworth. I frankly ask you to revert the article to the last stable version, before it was falsified by anon IPs. Thank you. Tajik (talk) 11:43, 10 October 2009 (UTC)

- (edit conflict)Nobody's mad at you! You've done nothing wrong! Anyway, I would like to apologise to Katerenka for my conclusion-jumping. Without researching the situation with sufficient thoroughness, I assumed it was a bad-faith accusation. I thought Katarena was, you know, more or less implying NoR was a sock without proper basis, ans using it as an insult, if you know what I mean. Hey!
I'm stopping by really quickly to say hello and wish the best in your on-Wiki (and off-Wiki) struggles. I consider myself your friend, in least in the cyberspace sense, and am glad you haven't left the community - this is a community that will accept any excellent contributor like yourself, no matter what. :)
I am currently on indefinite leave as real life is demanding way, way too much of my time and I must curtail the addiction. I hope to be back soon, and to see you then!

- Hi Kingpin. :) I had scrambled the password to "Javert", but forgot to disable email first. So, if you think it is appropriate I can make an edit to the RfA using that account. And I'll be sure and reply to your email as quickly as I can. :) Yours, –Katerenka ☆ 14:37, 24 October 2009 (UTC)
- Well, I sure trust you, but only cos I trust Javert :P. So yeh, probably good idea to make an edit, not necessarily at the RfA, mebbes at User:Javert. - Kingpin13 (talk) 14:41, 24 October 2009 (UTC)

- Just edit the talk page, any page with a dummy edit, and an edit summary to confirm tis you should be fine :). - Kingpin13 (talk) 15:00, 24 October 2009 (UTC)
- Kingpin is correct. Call me paranoid but I also think that such a proof is essential if you want to claim Javert's edits as your own. Regards SoWhy 16:58, 24 October 2009 (UTC)
- If ArbComm says she's good regarding both accounts and to not make any more edits from Javert then your request is a bit of a quandary. To edit from Javert to prove ownership of the account to you makes some sense as there is no confirmed identity but she also greatly runs the risk of getting in trouble from ArbComm by doing so. That would look worse on and likely be the death of her RfA and any potential subsequent ones. Katerenka really doesn't need another sockpuppetry investigation. There has to be a better way. At this time i am not sure what that is other than to trust ArbComm. delirious & lost ☯ TALK 20:22, 24 October 2009 (UTC)
- I doubt ArbCom meant it this way, since such an edit would not mean any contribution to the project. I guess they offered to confirm it before Katerenka told the rest of the community anyway, as a means to allow her to protect her privacy and that now that she revealed it, they would not mind a single confirming edit to be made. And of course they can easily be asked whether they would mind it or not. But I greatly doubt they would. Regards SoWhy 20:34, 24 October 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah, Arbcom isn't run by robots. I imagine that her making an edit as Javert might not convince some of the opposers, though, since they could just say it was a meatpuppet, and most of the opposes aren't based on just that rationale anyway. -- Soap Talk/Contributions 20:54, 24 October 2009 (UTC)

- Best of luck, Katerenka. My take on the comments in your RfA is that people were generally supportive but felt your experience wasn't varied enough to suit them, and voters generally want to see a longer span of time with one username. I think no one knows currently what's the minimum time to wait after a failed RfA; 5 or 6 months is my best guess. Please feel free to ask me for help any time. - Dank (push to talk) 21:47, 31 October 2009 (UTC)
- I'm sorry to see that your RfA did not pass. Please don't take most of the opposes to heart; I saw them as being unnecessarily scathing, although some had some valid points you could grow from. Maybe next time, Airplaneman talk 00:31, 1 November 2009 (UTC)

IP user page question
Hello Katerenka! There is an unusual situation going on at User talk:75.141.100.115, and I'm hoping you might be able to shed some light on it. This is an IP who you helped to create a user page for on October 9. He says that he contacted both you and Gogo Dodo for assistance. Without revealing any personal information, could you tell me how you became aware that this IP wanted a user page? (There's a very puzzled thread about this at WP:ANI, and the IP is currently blocked for some misbehavior). You've not done anything wrong at all, I'm just hoping you might have a clue about what's happening. Thanks! EdJohnston (talk) 14:31, 8 November 2009 (UTC)

- It's not up to me. You do, however, have to follow the directions if you don't want your RfA to keep getting removed as malformed. Additionally, I would strongly advise you not to run at this time. Five days and 200 edits does not an administrator make. Don't be discouraged, just find your niche, help to build and maintain the encyclopedia and, later on perhaps, request administrator access. @Kate (talk) 09:12, 20 November 2009 (UTC)

Re: Template:J.Reu
Re your message: I deleted the "template". As you said, it was in the wrong namespace, but if it were in the correct namespace, it would have been deleted under CSD A7. You could say it got deleted through the process of you "fixing it" by moving it into the correct namespace and then tagging it under CSD A7. I deleted the other copies by the same editor, too. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 08:09, 21 November 2009 (UTC)
- Re your message: No problem. =) It happens from time to time with new editors where they put stuff into the wrong namespace. Namespaces are very confusing for new editors. And more importantle, its not fair for other users to oppose in an RFA or RFB with the reason "your too young". That seem like the opposes that you got in your RFA "per majority" or "per above" And then I had this really long comment that got me a barnstar and the only responce I got was "agreed but this is in the wrong spot" I guess you dont remember that as you had a wikibreak (oct 25). Clerking at WP:CHU/U
Hi there. Of course your work at WP:CHU/U is appreciated, I just came to remind you to be a bit more careful. You left a clerk note here for a username that was not registered. Oh and here you use US style dates in a MM.DD.YYYY way which is quite confusing to people who write them the correct way (DD.MM.YYYY) ... okay, I'm joking, but you ought to try to write dates in a way that everyone understands them easily (using month names for example). Other than that, keep up the good work Regards SoWhy 17:20, 2 December 2009 (UTC)
- Ugh, sorry about that. Usually I check to make sure that accounts are registered, and ClueBot even told me that it wasn't, so I'll be sure to be more careful in the future. Thanks for the friendly reminder. :) @Kate (talk) 17:22, 2 December 2009 (UTC)
Flagged revisions infobox
Hi, would you mind posting the address of the flagged revisions userbox? You use a CSS on your userpage, and I haven't a clue how to find the userbox! If that's your own version (the dark blue background), the original, if there is one, would be fine too. Thanks! - BilCat (talk) 07:02, 3 December 2009 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) Hi Bilcat, the code for the userbox that Kat is using is

. There are however, a number of other userboxes for those who support flagged revs. Best, - Kingpin13 (talk) 07:39, 3 December 2009 (UTC)

Beta testing
Hey Kat :). Hope everything is well with you. I'm currently writing an editing tool for deletion tagging, WikiAlerter. At the moment I'm looking for some users to do a bit of testing for me, as I haven't used all the functions myself. This would basically involve using the program from time to time, being prepared for it to mess up on you, and reporting any errors to me :). If you were willing to do so, this would be very helpful, but feel free to say no :). If you do decide to, please let me know. Best, - Kingpin13 (talk) 20:42, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
- Lol . The program is made for Windows, using .NET, so I doubt it would work on a Mac. If that's a problem, then tis okay, I won't kill you ;P - Kingpin13 (talk) 20:51, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
- Greeeat, if it's okay, I'll email it to you tomorrow (it's 20:54 here), just so I can email them all together. If you're desperate to get your hands on it, I can send it now ;P. - Kingpin13 (talk) 20:57, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
IRC
I confirm that I am "Katerenka" on IRC. @Kate (talk) 23:26, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
I pulled that picture of User:Steveshapiro's honky ass out of White people a couple of times myself. It's image vandalism, isn't it? I don't wanna get into a WP:3RR thing with him. Crafty (talk)
- Really, it's in kind of a grey area. I'm applying a liberal interpretation of WP:NOTWEBHOST as my basis for reverting his addition. The first time he put it in might of been in good faith, but I doubt it. It looks to me just like someone trying to weasel their way into a Wikipedia article as the image itself doesn't really help the article at all. He's reverted twice, so one more time and you should probably give him a 3RR warning. I've left him a note on his talk page, so we'll see what happens. Best, @Kate (talk) 04:41, 5 December 2009 (UTC)
- Hmm. Well, apparently he disagrees with me, but doesn't wish to discuss it. One more revert puts him at four, so if he does that, you can report him to WP:AN/3RR. Best, @Kate (talk) 04:44, 5 December 2009 (UTC)
- Nope, he's started to talk. He's trotting out the "BUT THERE ARE PICTARS OF TEH BLACKS ON THEIR ARTICAL!" line of arguments. WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS I suppose is the line here. Crafty (talk) 04:52, 5 December 2009 (UTC)
- Heh, well, if he's up for discussing his antics, that's always a good thing. @Kate (talk) 05:33, 5 December 2009 (UTC)
- Honestly, I can see where he's coming from. There should be a photo of a real white person on the page rather than simply drawings of them. However, his is not suitable. As I said on my talk page, "it seems a vanity picture, possibly just to show his friends "hey, look, I'm on Wikipedia!"" Find a few suitable pictures and add them into relevant areas. I think that should satisfy his wish for a picture on the page and ours for not having to argue with him further. Just my opinion, though I could understand any reasonable objections given that I'd never even heard of this page twenty-four hours ago. --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 18:20, 5 December 2009 (UTC)
- There is a whole category on Wikimedia Commons. @Kate (talk) 18:23, 5 December 2009 (UTC)

- Consensus is everything. I'm all for being bold, and what not, but unless there is consensus to add photographs and which ones, I'll live it to someone who has done more with the article than just revert vanity pics. @Kate (talk) 18:32, 5 December 2009 (UTC)

I read about userpages and userboxes and couldn't find anything prohibiting me from adding an Administrator userbox to my userpage. Any comments on this? Keegscee (talk) 05:03, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
- That would probably fall under WP:NOTSTUPID. There have been several discussions on AN/I about it, but I'm not sure if there's a particular policy that explicitly forbids it. *shrug* Add it back, if you like, I'm not going to make a fuss out of it, though someone else probably will. - You just need to reserve talk page comments for things related to editing the encyclopedia. Threads, such as this one, which have nothing to do with building the encyclopedia should be avoided. I like you, and would have no objections to chatting with you sometime, provided you either email me (Katerenka@hotmail.co.uk) or find me on IRC (nick is Katerenka). re: WikiAlerter
Hi Kat, good to see you've got it editing. You can change the default edit summary by going to the settings (screw driver image, top right). In the settings, go to the edit summaries tab, and select "CSD", there should be a text box for the edit summary used when tagging a page and for messaging the creator :). I may add an option to change the edit summary when you choose to leave a custom warning (which will be the default warning by default, so it would be easy to leave a custom summary alongside the default warning ). I thought up the question because over the period I have been on Wikipedia, I have observed admins that a) Don't trust their own judgement b) Follow the letter of policies all too often, leading to inflexible interpretations of policy. and c) Don't use their common sense too often. I wanted to be able to assess the candidate's mentality of how they would approach being an admin, and ask a question that would give either a) An answer I'm looking for or b) An answer I'm not. I'm looking for admins that, of course, will follow policy, but when possible, use their common sense and administrative judgment to come up with the best possible solution, as long as it is in align with the spirit of the respective applicable policy. In short, I want to be sure that the elected admin will use their judgment to better Wikipedia, as opposed to mindlessly implementing policies as they are written. Kind of make sense? Regarding my contributions to USS Cocopa (ATF-101)
Hi. Since I was the one who added all the ref's to the article. Cant I claim that I didnt just nominate the article. As it would not have passed without my contributions to it?--Coldplay Expért Let's talk 23:25, 11 December 2009 (UTC)
- Unless you "created" the article or "substantially expanded it", then the only credit you can take for DYK is nom credit. If all you did was add references, I wouldn't think that would qualify as "substantial expansion". When I was active in the reviewing process, there were several articles that I contributed references to, but didn't take credit for any of them. Some good news for ya: His three main BellSouth address ranges have been blocked for a year and AT&T has agreed to investigate the matter as a terms-of-service violation! I honestly believe we may finally have heard the last of him. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 18:15, 12 December 2009 (UTC)
- Oh, will you look at that: The Terms of Service being used for a good reason for once...</telco bashing>. Lәo(βǃʘʘɱ) 18:16, 12 December 2009 (UTC)
- You're kidding? Wow, nice to know that things actually work the way they are supposed to for a change. This is great news. :) And lol @Leo, nice to know that they have a purpose, isn't it? ;) @Kate (parlez) 18:19, 12 December 2009 (UTC)
An email.
You've got one. Lәo(βǃʘʘɱ) 19:04, 12 December 2009 (UTC)
- Replied, thank you. :) @Kate (parlez) 19:16, 12 December 2009 (UTC)
I've read over the article per your request, and have a few comments. First, I made some minor wording changes; you might want to review them and make sure I'm correct in my corrections. :P Content-wise, the article is quite good. It covers all relevant information, but probably not in enough detail to warrant a B or a GA. See Ian McKellan for a similar bio, but in much greater detail. Basically it needs more content, and to be more in-depth if it will advance forward on a class scale. It could also use an image. Flickr might have what you want, but make sure the license works. ;) That's all I can see with a quick glance. Lәo(βǃʘʘɱ) 22:07, 12 December 2009 (UTC)
- I appreciate your taking the time to look this article over for me. I appreciate your suggestions. :) @Kate (parlez) 22:34, 12 December 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for helping revert his fake reporting of me, I told him nicely not to remove the whois tag but got what was coming to him. Momo san Gespräch 19:10, 13 December 2009 (UTC)
- You're quite welcome, I know how annoying that can be. ;) @Kate (parlez) 19:11, 13 December 2009 (UTC)
RfA
It's also rather poor form to try and get an RfA and request rollback with under 20 edits and have a very suspicious supporter right away... I wouldn't have done it otherwise, but it was all very fishy to me. I do understand what you are saying, though. fetchcomms☛ 20:05, 13 December 2009 (UTC)
- Two wrong do not make a right. Instead of being sarcastic with them, offering assistance is probably the route that should have been taken. @Kate (parlez) 20:06, 13 December 2009 (UTC)
- I replied on their talk page. I understand that the edit summary wasn't very good though. It's just that I take things like socking, etc. very seriously, and it annoys me when a new editor thinks they can do whatever they want here. fetchcomms☛ 20:17, 13 December 2009 (UTC)
- As opposed to "old" editors who think that they can (and do) do whatever they want? ;) In all seriousness, though, I understand your position and thank you for being open to suggestion. @Kate (parlez) 20:20, 13 December 2009 (UTC)
- If I know what you're talking about.... Thank you for understanding, and I am always open for advice, being (kind of?) new here. fetchcomms☛ 20:28, 13 December 2009 (UTC)

Not sure how often you check it, so just a note to tell you that I just sent you an e-mail. --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 01:22, 14 December 2009 (UTC)
