Aghajani Kashmeri
[edit]Hello Kashmeri. Are the Urdu and Hindi scripts on the Aghajani Kashmeri correct (if you can read those languages)? I have inserted what I feel are the accurate ones in the article you created. With regards, AnupamTalk 19:49, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
Hello Anupam, Yes, they appear to be fine in both Urdu and the Hindi Devnagiri script. I can read both. However, two issues: (1) What I am missing is links from other related articles. I have put in a whole bunch, but it still says that my father's bio is an 'orphan.' Does anyone have any idea what to do about this???? (2) I am hoping somebody out there has some information on his acting career in Calcutta, or references relating to him, his writing, his poetry, his growing up in Lucknow other than what he has written in his autobiography, Sahar Hone Tak. Thanks Anupam for adding the Urdu and Hindi version. (Kashmeri (talk) 01:49, 3 July 2009 (UTC))
- The reason is because you have made links incorrectly. For the procedure on how to properly make wikilinks, click here. Basically, you need to put two brackets (on left and right hand sides) around the word you want to link. I hope this helps. Also, out of curiosity, was he originally from Lucknow, or was he Punjabi, Kashmiri, or something else? With regards, AnupamTalk 17:29, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
Oh yes, he is originally from Lucknow. He was born in the neighbourhood of Wazirgunj, and grew up there before he ran away to act in a move, Shan-e-Subha, being shot in Rangoon. He must have been 20 or so. BTW, when I put two square brackets on either side, it highlights the name on the page but when you click on it, it says there is no page and to create one. I am sorry to bother you but I've been trying to a couple of days to figure this out, because as you know there is a page to which you added the urdu and devnagri script. Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kashmeri (talk • contribs) 02:51, 4 July 2009 (UTC)
- Take a look at how the words zamindar and Lucknow are linked in the article. For example, in order to create a wikilink to the city of Lucknow, you would do this: [[Lucknow]]. You will probably want to move the article to Aghajani Kashmeri by clicking here. It is currently Aghajani Kashmeri aka Aghajani Kashmiri, which is not standard naming for Wikipeida articles. To link to the article, you would then type [[Aghajani Kashmeri]]. I hope this helps. With regards, AnupamTalk 17:26, 4 July 2009 (UTC)
Thank you very much Anupam, it worked; I moved the article to Aghajani Kashmeri; all is well and I really appreciate your help. kashmeri. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kashmeri (talk • contribs) 19:41, 5 July 2009 (UTC)
Hi Anupam, I noticed in some old clippings I have that in urdu, Kashmeri is often written as Kaashmeri -- kaf aliph sheen... I am wondering is you can include this alternate spelling in both Urdu and Hindi. Thanks. Zuhair. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kashmeri (talk • contribs) 04:13, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
