Wikipedia translation of the week: 2024-42
Please be bold and help translate this article!
The little Danes experiment was a 1951 Danish operation where 22 Greenlandic Inuit children were sent to Danish foster families in an attempt to re-educate them as "little Danes". While the children were all supposed to be orphans, most were not. Six children were adopted while in Denmark, and sixteen returned to Greenland, only to be placed in Danish-speaking orphanages and never live with their families again. Half of the children experienced mental health disturbances, and half of them died in young adulthood. The government of Denmark officially apologised in 2020, after several years of demands from Greenlandic officials.

Facial animation capture
Hi, @KEmel49, thanks for noticing my changes. I am building up the page gradually and I always leaving it in a consistent state so if someone reads it, it is better than how it was in the previous version. I am saving as little as possible to avoid publishing the page in an inconsistent state. I don't agree that the changes I made are redundant. For example my changes added that the technology is now commoditized and is available on many devices (iPhone, meta quest, Apple Vision Pro) and I am adding a paragraph about the significance of the technology to the visual effects and movie industry - as multiple academy awards (oscars) were given to the developers of such technologies. Your revert happened just before I added the reference to this.
I am also depth that is missing in the current article about the importance of capturing micro expressions with motion capture (which is not easy to do with animation) and the concept of facial motion capture transfer - which is very important in the industry and doesn't appear in the page. On a next edit I will references to scientific article discussing both concepts.
The reason I don't want to use a sandbox is that I want to make incremental value immediately. If I wait until I have all the changes in, it will take longer for others to benefit from the contributions. This is why I always leave the page in a consistent state - which is better that the previous edit. Another challenge with working with a sandbox is that if I take several days or weeks to edit a page in the sandbox, the original page may change and merging my change will be more challenging. If I do smaller changed in the sandbox, the number of edits will still be high.
I am wonder what triggered your action - the number of changes, the small time between the edits, etc.?
I hope you will see the value in the changes I am doing and will allow me to continue my work. ThothOfTheSouth (talk) 05:20, 16 October 2024 (UTC)
- Please help me understand what I did wrong so I don't do it again. I could not tell from your note. Your help is much appreciated @KEmel49 ThothOfTheSouth (talk) 05:26, 16 October 2024 (UTC)
- @ThothOfTheSouth, Please see WP:MOS, WP:ACM and WP:WBA. In your this edit, you have replaced whole section with non-cited texts which is against guideline of Wikipedia
Also i see that you are asking what had triggered me to take such action on your edit, well that's because your edit was against simple guidelines. still if you think i did something wrong feel free to ask me here. Thank you.––kemel49(connect)(contri) 09:19, 16 October 2024 (UTC)- @KEmel49 you removed my section before I added a the cited section. The previous section was really poor and I could improve it because it was really out of date and irrelevant. @KEmel49, I will get my section back with citations as a single edit. ThothOfTheSouth (talk) 14:23, 16 October 2024 (UTC)
- @ThothOfTheSouth In that case first gather all references and edit at your sandbox as it would be a testing edit. do not remove any content or replace anything without references. if you can't dedicate enough time at a moment, do edit at sandbox one by one then only apply at main article. Furthermore, any changes without satisfactory reason or citation would be reverted. if you think that any paragraph, section or whole article Facial motion capture have no references then you can add {{Citation needed}}, {{Unreferenced section}}, {{Citation style}} or {{More citation needed}} based on situation.––kemel49(connect)(contri) 15:24, 16 October 2024 (UTC)

History of Cape Verde revision
Hey there! I saw you had undone my revision of the History of Cape Verde page, specifically re-entering a citation for the book "Atlantis in the Atlantic." This book is not a reliable source. If anything, it's an anti-source, as it's an ancient aliens book that should in no way be used to discuss the history of Cape Verde. I was hoping to better understand your rationale for reinstating it. Thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Quaoarian (talk • contribs) 12:42, 17 October 2024 (UTC)
- Hello Quaoarian, Thank you for look after that edit. Look at your edit. you added an URL(bare) and removed another one. but i just added the one you removed and the one you added stays as it is. if you think or found that the Atlantis in the Caribbean: And the Comet That Changed the World at Google Books reference is not reliable to that topic or paragraph you can add {{Unreliable sources?}} at the reference.––kemel49(connect)(contri) 13:00, 17 October 2024 (UTC)

SS America edit
I'm new to editing like very new and don't know fully how to yet and I have always wanted to know where this ship was built exactly and where that place is today and I recently did so I wanted to add it to the page so others who may wonder about the same topic could figure it out quickly and easily. If possible please edit my edit so that it makes more sense. Thank you. Littletimmyxyz (talk) 16:58, 18 October 2024 (UTC)
- Hi Littletimmyxyz, Thank you for taking a look at my edit. at SS America (1898), you have done this edit. which was undone by me as it was unsourced. I see you have done the same edit again here but now you have added reference which make all the differences. hope you understand.––kemel49(connect)(contri) 17:08, 18 October 2024 (UTC)

Kharayeb (Arabic: الخرايب) is a historic town in the Sidon District in the South Governorate, Lebanon. The town is 77 km (48 mi) south of Beirut, and stands at an average altitude of 190 m (620 ft) above sea level. The town boasts a rich historical legacy, with archaeological excavations revealing a complex settlement history spanning from Prehistory to the Ottoman period. Notably, Kharayeb's origins can be traced back to the Persian period (539–330 BC), when it played a pivotal role in the region's agricultural and economic landscape, culminating in the construction of its Phoenician temple around the 6th century BC.

Placenta cake is a dish from ancient Greece and Rome consisting of many dough layers interspersed with a mixture of cheese and honey and flavored with bay leaves, baked and then covered in honey. The dessert is mentioned in classical texts such as the Greek poems of Archestratos and Antiphanes, as well as the De agri cultura of Cato the Elder. It is often seen as the predecessor of baklava and börek.
