Hieronymus Karl Graf von Colloredo-Mansfeld

[edit]

Please read WP:COPYVIO. You can not copy text from another webpage and place it into the Wikipedia encyclopaedia unless the page is out of copyright (or falls under very specific categories). I reverted your edit to Hieronymus Karl Graf von Colloredo-Mansfeld because you copied it from http://www.napoleon-series.org/research/biographies/Austria/AustrianGenerals/c_AustrianGeneralsC.html which has at the bottom "© Copyright 1995-2008, The Napoleon Series, All Rights Reserved." --Philip Baird Shearer (talk) 15:50, 6 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Masters of Science Fiction (continued)

[edit]

To continue the discussion from Wikipedia:New contributors' help page#Deleted article on "Little Brother" Masters of Science Fiction:

Every day (in fact, every minute!), pages are created on Wikipedia which are outside of our rules about what we should have on the site. (If you don't believe how many there are, have a look at this page: Special:NewPages and note the date/time stamps along the left side; prepare to be shocked!)

Because there are so many articles to deal with, most only get a quick glance, and probably the majority of them are deleted within a few days of creation. This work is necessary, because the website just can't hold everything that people think should be entered.

I can't make any judgement about your page, because I never saw it. I can only give general advice on what to do next. On the help page where this conversation started, I indicated I felt the editor who removed your article is not very friendly or responsive, but I can't make any judgement on whether his action was correct, and I can't fault him for not having the time to talk to other users, considering the volume of work he and other volunteers have to deal with.

There certainly are remedies to those who still feel their article has a place on Wikipedia. The first step (asking to have the article restored to your user space for further work) appears to be getting nowhere, but I did suggest a next step, which is to create the article again in your user space, keeping in mind the criticisms you received previously and trying to avoid the problems that were highlighted, then invite others to look at it for comment and further improvements before turning it into an article. I provided a recommended link to create a new page, and this wasn't acted upon, so here it is again: User:Justicia Liga/Little Brother.

I really can't give a further opinion until I see what you're writing. Give it a try, but don't spend too much time on it (re. formatting, etc.) at this phase. If you can get other editors contributing to your page before it goes live, this may help to get it accepted. (I can't make any promises, though.) --A Knight Who Says Ni (talk) 20:11, 18 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, but I've little time right now. I'll try to recreate the initial article first but it'll probably take a day or two then work up again from there. But at any rate, I think I'll be more comfortable in merging whatever I come up with the short story source only that I don't know what the other guy is prepared to do. His replies to PrimeHunter certainly weren't encouraging. Justicia Liga (talk) 20:39, 18 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have access to the text of the original article. Do you want a copy by email? I agree it doesn't currently satisfy Wikipedia article requirements but I don't understand how WP:CSD#A1 could be used as argument for speedy deletion. PrimeHunter (talk) 21:55, 18 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the offer. I wish I had logged in sooner since it could have saved me a lot of time in recreating the stuff since I didn't save it outside of wikipedia. I'll be posting the edited article on the work page in a little while. Hope to get your input. I saw your reference to the redirected material like the "awakening". Unfortunately, I'm not going to be great with the side box and the images so if you or "knight" think the added material is good enough; I'll gladly relinquish it to either of you. I think I'll be satisfied if you think its wise to just incorporate it to the short story article. And looking back at your discussion with the admin concerned back in his talkpage, I think his conflicting replies would be a clue. Justicia Liga (talk) 17:18, 19 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
