Questionable public domain claim - Image:RTC-1.jpg
[edit]Hello, you requested additional information for the above image, which I havge uploaded as a reference for an article on Religious Technology Center. I have provided additional information on the discussion page, but since then I have not heard anything back. Could you tell me please if my explanation is satisfactory? I plan to use the IRS source for future references on Scientology, so it is kind of important. Thanks. Geo1967 (talk) 11:45, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit]I was told you obtain pictures from Flickr. Which I have done. I've uploaded them with all the source information and credited that original unloader/creater. What am I doing wrong here??K-LIDD (talk) 07:35, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit]I actually scanned the photo myself from the source I listed. I listed all rights and sources from the text and gave all credit to the author. Also, the author of the text wrote it as a member of the USDA, therefore I am positive it has no copyright. However, I am very new to Wikipedia, so there is a great chance that I have made a mistake in citing my source. Please let me know what additonal information I may need. Thank you for your comment! —Preceding unsigned comment added by JRechy (talk • contribs) 04:41, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit]Hello. Why was this deleted? As I indicated, it was self-made, and I re-uploaded it saying what the copyright status was (creative commons I think). Cheers, Neale Monks 19:39, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
- I could not find any Creative Commons licensing, so your self-made claim would still be insufficient, but I am undeleting it to give you seven days to tag it properly. Once properly tagged, it can be restored in the relevant article again. Thank you for your cooperation.--Jusjih 01:35, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
Deleted Image
[edit]Hello! You have deleted logo in Sankukai, and now my question is how can I add image(logo) so it would not be deleted?
- On 29 September 2007, BetacommandBot tagged it invalid rationale. On 5 October 2007, you simply removed non-free logo tag and then blanked the page, so I considered you pleading no contest to BetacommandBot's action and deleted the logo. Since you ask now, I have undeleted the logo to allow you 7 days to add fair use rationale. If you have questions, please feel free to ask.--Jusjih 01:56, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
Actually I would change that for the first time, but I was searching how to change that. So I added some line that this is free logo and then deleted what bot added. But I guess that is not the way. What shall I do? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Zigam (talk • contribs) 14:54, 19 October 2007 (UTC)
- Where exactly did you get that logo? Please specify the source before I can think of some rationales for you.--Jusjih 01:12, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

Image help
[edit]You recently deleted the image for Maryland politician Jeannie Haddaway because it did not meet the guidelines, which I agree. I contacted Jeannie Haddaway this week and asked if she could send me an image that I could use to post on Wikipedia. She sent one to me. However, I've read the Licensing options and I'm confused. What is the proper way to tag the image since it's not my own work, but I have permission to use it? The option that I would assume is correct (The copyright holder gave me permission to use this work only in Wikipedia articles (no other terms specified)), gives an ominous message. It seems to be tagging it for speedy deletion. Am I doing something wrong or do I have more work to do? Your assistance is appreciated.Wallstreethotrod 01:27, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
- We cannot accept images with permission for Wikipedia only if no fair use rationale. Unless you do talk about a specific image, you cannot practically claim fair use on living people's photographs to solely show their appearances.--Jusjih 02:35, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
Image speedy deletion - PRO_test
[edit]Yesterday you tagged and speedily-deleted an image I uploaded probably over 18 months ago. I don't think speedy deletion is appropriate in such a situation where the uploader cannot reasonably expected to review the image and correct any problems - the main issue being the time of the upload. This means that you cannot expect the uploader to remember the specifics of the image, and that it may have been uploaded when rules deemed it appropriate.
In this case I think a more appropriate tag and reason for deletion is that it is not in use, not has it been for a while. I write this as your message confused me - I didn't remember the image, your templated message seems quite similar to a warning(!), and is not at all specific to the file. Maybe a better catch-all message could be written to stop this, especially in cases of long-forgotten images.
Thanks, |→ Spaully₪† 23:36, 1 November 2007 (GMT)
- Unfortunately your upload licensed under non-derivative license is unacceptable here without fair use rationale. Maxim actually deleted it while supporting my tagging. Please tell me any relevant article to claim fair use, so I can undelete to give you another chance.--Jusjih 02:20, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
Lorelei7 images
[edit]Regarding this image debate: I wanted to let you know I went ahead and deleted all of the images due to their questionable copyright status. Let me know if you hear anything from the copyright holder, and even if you don't, thanks for taking that initiative, anyway. -- RG2 12:17, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
Image:Japon timbre.jpg
[edit]NOT WORTH THE BOTHER. It is not obvious where to write this explanation for my annoyance. Nor is it obvious where to write the "rationale" for use of an image.
The bottom line is that the rationale was included initially; and it is not clear how to edit this image description page in a way that avoids future problems. Why should I struggle with this problem for more than an hour?
Your work is unhelpful because the complaint announcement does not include adequate information about how to address or resolve the issue you raise -- and in this specific case, I now resent the implied urgency which requires me to accommodate myself to YOUR random agenda and time-frame without knowing who you are or why.
In short, what you are doing seems to becomes somewhat irresponsible in the context your actions create; and this continues to be an appropriate and timely criticism no matter how valid your intentions may be. Not a good thing. --Ooperhoofd 17:48, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
- My action is to enforce the policy here, no agenda. The copyright rule here is a policy, not merely a suggestion.--Jusjih 01:53, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
Err?
[edit]I don't know to what you're referring. All I did was remove a nonsense phrase ("Go Mariemont Warriors!") in the renewable energy page. I felt it was inappropriate and don't see how removing nonsense is vandalism. All the other garbage there, I didn't fix because I didn't know how, or what the standard was. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.174.1.96 (talk) 04:11, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

For a super awesome effort (calling twice and emailing) in trying to clarify the license of the Lorelei7 images. hbdragon88 05:50, 6 November 2007 (UTC) |
Thank you for your award. I will try calling +1 818 832 1101 tomorrow to see if I can speak with her briefly to get her attention. You are concerned of the licensing statement and I am concerned of whether that uploader is truly Lorelei. I have tried to vote to keep these eight images due to educational and informational values. If I can get her attention to explain licensing statements, I hope to undelete and then send these images to Commons.--Jusjih 02:20, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
- Not a problem. Again, kudos to you for going way beond the call of duty for making 100% certain that these images were indeed uploaded by Loreleli and arelicensed under the GFDL. Withour your backing they would have been quietly deleted and the bondage articles lacking in image quality. hbdragon88 (talk) 05:30, 30 November 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for the welcome. I'm not sure what I want to specialize in. I declared Special:Newpages and CAT:CSD interest in my RfA, and the logs show just that – some 80 entries within the first 12 hours of being an admin (a few PROD and three November 18 IFD entries). I haven't done image work in a long time, but I used to like it – I found howcheng's script so useful that I recommended it to Nv8200p, Gay Cdn, and Fritz Saalfeld. I also did a few big nominations while culling through orphaned/unencylopedic Category:GFDL images. hbdragon88 08:27, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit]The copywrite status is on that page, very clearly. Please look at these type of things before you label them as without copywrite information. Fresheneesz 03:40, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
- No. What exactly is the license? "This picture has permission to be used by wikipedia: "I can send them a permission form if they need/want something like that. Doug Malewicki" What kind of permission is that? GFDL? CC? PD? Per Wikipedia:Copyright_problems#Copyright_owners_who_submitted_their_own_work_to_Wikipedia, please send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en at wikimedia dot org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation. Failure to do so may still result in deletion if your claimed permission is questionable.--Jusjih 03:48, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
- First of all, the copywrite status IS very clear on the page. Its copywrited by Unimodal. You don't need to be such a dick about this. I'll tell the owner of the picture to send an email there. Quit adding inappropriate tags. Fresheneesz 19:49, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
- I am reporting your uncooperative attitude to Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/Incidents#Image:SkyTran_Seattle2.jpg_and_its_uploader_Fresheneesz. Removing the no-license tag without a proper tag does not help.--Jusjih 02:13, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
- May I note that your attitude is also uncooperative. You're being a self-rightious idiot about something so trivial. The no-license tag says "This image or media does not have information on its copyright status." It is the third time i'm telling you that that sentence is 100% false. Take some good advice and pull that stick out of your ass. The owner of that picture has emailed permissions-en as of Nov 9, 2007 9:11 PM. I hope I never see you again. Should I remove the tag again, or do you want to do it this time? Fresheneesz 06:50, 10 November 2007 (UTC)

Image for consideration
[edit]You might want to have a look at this. I'm no expert on images, but I have a hard time believing that a derivitive work incorporating a picture of Christoper Walken can correctly be GFDL without source of the original photo that was reworked here.--Isotope23 talk 19:33, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you for your message. While it can be tagged no source despite GFDL claim, I decide to post to possibly unfree images to request discussion while there are considerable uses.--Jusjih 01:35, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
Re: Image:Water st terminal.JPG
[edit]Image:Water st terminal.JPG was tagged "This image or media has no source information." Yige has uploaded other images, and this appears to be his own. He hasn't been on the side for more than a year. Would it be possible to use one of the copyright tags from another one of his images to this one? vıdıoman (talk • contribs) 04:31, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
- It was also tagged no source on 23 May 2006 but the uploader simply added a license tag without specifying the source. If you think in good faith that s/he have made it, I suggest that you write in your thought when removing my tag, but better not tag it GFDL-self until confirmed.--Jusjih 04:37, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
- I do not move images to commons, I never have, and had no plans for this one. This image will be replaced when I get a new digital camera in the near future. I currently cannot replace it and have had trouble finding anyone willing to do so. vıdıoman (talk • contribs) 13:52, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:YTV 2004 PM.PNG
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:YTV 2004 PM.PNG. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 19:58, 26 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit]Please DO delete this image. I thought I had gotten the proper permission to use it and another of Alexander Bedford from the owner of the website on which it appeared, but it turned out that he withdrew that permission (understandably) because he could not agree to the Wikipedia GNU free usage terms. Your copyright message on User_talk:Nigelpwsmith
[edit]Hi, I believe that you're correct in saying that there is a copyright infringement [1]. The image has been deleted before for that reason. It looks like it's been scanned from the annual report, contradicting the editors assertion that he owns the copyright. He has also asserted copyright to the text he has copied and pasted from an action group website, see Talk:Langbar_International The editor doesn't appear to have respect for WP guidelines such as WP:COI & WP:COPYRIGHT and appears to be saying whatever is necessary to give the impression of compliance. He appears to be editing on a single issue. His editing makes it difficult to check the facts on some controversial issues, see User_talk:Nigelpwsmith#Your_recent_edits. I'm now frustrated and would like the whole way he's gone about editing escalated, but don't know which mechanism to use. I raised it here Wikipedia:Copyright_problems/2007_November_20/Articles but received no help. Please could you, as an admin escalate it. Thanks -- John (Daytona2 · talk) 13:44, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you for your comment. I am asking that problem user at Talk:Langbar International to email permissions-en at wikimedia dot org per Wikipedia:Copyright_problems#Copyright_owners_who_submitted_their_own_work_to_Wikipedia to prove the copyright ownership. Otherwise, we cannot be sure if s/he is who s/he say that s/he is.--Jusjih 19:19, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks - I have also asked them to do the same for the copied article text. It has no GDFU? licence and copyright is owned by the company, according to the credit on the copied article, so User:Nigelpwsmith needs to prove the company is wrong, unless WP is lax enough to accept somebodies word ? -- John (Daytona2 · talk) 21:35, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
I posted those some time ago and then removed them when the owner of the property that they were on asked me to. I believe that they are now orphan images, and so yes, please get them as out of the system as is possible. Carptrash 02:45, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
