Michigan Glee Club
[edit]Hi, I am making a concerted effort to improve the articles on the major US glee clubs (Harvard, Cornell, Rutgers, etc.) particularly relating to adding sources and trimming "promo" material and text that seems like it might have been lifted from brochures. I notice that you have contributed a lot to the Michigan article, which I think is quite well written, but I would love to see sources and citations added to make it really up to "good article" status (see Harvard Glee Club for an example, it took a long time and is somewhat thankless but it greatly improved the article.) Thanks! --Dmz5 18:03, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
User page
[edit]Also, don't mean to be a jerk, but some editors might take offense (some might even take enormous offense) to your humorous equation of the National Council of Teachers of English with NAMBLA. You might want to edit that before someone accuses you of vandalism or something.--Dmz5 18:05, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
- Hahaha, thank you so much for your heartfelt advice. However, my profile is meant to be humorous, and as Jon Stewart of Daily Show fame has popularized the practice of adding "NAMBLA" to the end of long association names, I suggest you complain to him. Not me. Ztrawhcs 02:31, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
Image copyright problem with Image:Mattbaby.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading Image:Mattbaby.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Jusjih (talk) 02:49, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
- On 14 December 2007, Quadell deleted it for no license. I have undeleted it to give you another chance, but as images in your user pages are not exempt from our copyright policy, please add a license. Thank you.--Jusjih (talk) 01:30, 15 December 2007 (UTC)
There is a "ticket" system -- used to verify things like photographers agreeing to liscence their photos. I have never used it myself. But I think it might be a good idea for you to consider having the photographer who took agree to confirm liscencing through the WP:OTRS ticket system.
If I understand how it works:
- you open a "ticket" for the image;
- the ticket contains a contact method for the photographer -- which the ticket committee keeps confidential;
- I know there is supposed to be a mechanism through which the ticket committee can verify the contact you offered is the actual photographer -- I am unclear on this part;
- the photographer confirms they took the photo and agree to liscense it.
- the ticket committee leaves a note on the image page confirming that the photographer's liscense has been confirmed.
There are images like this one that have not been confirmed. But images that have been confirmed will never get challenged by someone who says "prove the photographer gave permission". If someone were to demand that, someone would have to contact the photographer then. If the photographer has given you permission recently it might make more sense to get it officially confirmed now, rather than later, when they might have forgotten, or have changed email addresses, and you can't reach them.
Note: Let me specifically clarify I am not challenging this photo.
I admire Ms Khan for her principles.

Collaborative news on quippd
[edit]Hey, I noticed that you had recently edited the Dove World Outreach Center, and I hoped that you could help out on another collaborative community edited project.
I run quippd, a collaboratively edited social news site, which mixes elements of Wikis, social networking, and social news sites. You can get some more information about what we are doing at: http://quippd.com/about/intro
Basically, we want to get good coverage on news stories, collaboratively edited, like Wikipedia. We are trying to take the ideas of WikiFactCheck -- to make news less biased and speedier (unlike something like Wikinews).
I hope you check us out -- and feel free to contact me with any questions, comments, or concerns.

The article Tim Young (comedian) has been proposed for deletion because, under Wikipedia policy, all newly created biographies of living persons must have at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.
If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Bihco (talk) 06:21, 16 January 2012 (UTC)
Replaceable fair use File:Sun-conure-in-tree.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Sun-conure-in-tree.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the file description page and add the text
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}}
below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing<your reason>
with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable. - On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Nick—Contact/Contribs 20:46, 13 May 2015 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image File:Sun-conure-in-tree.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Sun-conure-in-tree.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 02:32, 15 May 2015 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for October 19
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Alexandra Silber, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages West End and Broadway. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 09:33, 19 October 2015 (UTC)
File permission problem with File:MahvishKhan.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:MahvishKhan.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.
If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 09:41, 2 January 2016 (UTC)
