Hey Juniper, Just curious how you would break this up? There is a lot, but I'm not sure how you would break it down/fill it out under sections/subsections.

Hi Ericka -

I think you would do well to give some background to Harris' position, which is in many ways anticipated by major strands of post-structuralism. It would be important to understand that his integrationist position is as much a fusion of past theory as it is his own. I would also include a healthy objections or criticisms section, as Harris consolidates a position that cuts to the heart of the Theory Wars and the other Linguistics Wars (I'm thinking of the Chomsky/Foucault, Searle/Derrida debates). I also have questions about the precise target of Harris' critique. While I understand his main contention about bracketing and abstraction, I am unsure of just who he thinks is guilty of mixing up words and things. You use the word reocentric, which I have not seen before, but it makes me think of rei-centric, as in thing-centered. I guess I don't see linguistics as guilty of this heresy per say. Post-structuralist readings of Saussure certainly move language in the opposite direction - into the realm of pure differentiation - and even a conservative reading of Cours would have to concede that Saussure's notion of a conceptually differentiating signified precludes even the chance of words standing in as things. I wonder also how integrationism operates descriptively or prospectively, the problem with holism generally being that it does not allow for distinction. I would like to see examples of integrationist analysis, or applied integrationism - or is it really just an epistemic critique? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Erflanders (talkcontribs) 01:48, 31 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hayo, I agree with Eric, in that the article could be strengthened by a bit of Harris' theoretical background. Additionally, linking to other pages on Wiki could be beneficial in regards to the more technical terms you're using in your article. SMMAK709 (talk) 22:19, 6 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
