[edit]Hello Julissagreen. The nature of your edits, such as the one you made to Draft:Stanford Advanced Materials (SAM), gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.
Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.
Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Julissagreen. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Julissagreen|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}
. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Seraphimblade Talk to me 06:59, 2 August 2023 (UTC)
- Hello, I apologize for the promotional nature of the content I submitted earlier. However, I want to clarify that I am not being directly or indirectly compensated for these edits. As an employee of the company, my intention is to create an introduction page for my organization, as there is currently none available. If I submit another draft, I will make sure to maintain a more neutral tone. Julissagreen (talk) 07:16, 2 August 2023 (UTC)
- Employment counts, so you will need to declare as doing paid editing before editing further on this subject. And before submitting another draft, yes, please do see what we mean by neutrality, as that wasn't even in the vicinity of neutral, but also by notability. Wikipedia articles are not intended to be any kind of "introduction page", they are encyclopedia articles. If there is not a substantial quantity of reliable and independent source material that meets these specific requirements as well, we shouldn't have an article about the company at all. Most companies do not pass these requirements. We care about facts that such reliable and independent sources confirm about the company, not about what the company "values" or "commits" to or any of that marketese puffery. Your submission at Articles for creation: Stanford Advanced Materials (August 9)
[edit]- Greetings. I'm still perplexed by the reasons for the content's rejection. I believe the page's content maintains a neutral tone by outlining the company's history, innovations, and product lines. I think this page serves as a valuable resource for users seeking relevant information. Do you have any further suggestions for refining the content? Julissagreen (talk) 08:43, 9 August 2023 (UTC)
- Your draft has zero independent sources. Notability is judged by looking at the depth of coverage in independent, reliable, secondary sources, we have no interest in what you or your company website wants to say about the company. Your draft has nothing to indicate that the company would pass the notability criteria. Theroadislong (talk) 08:46, 9 August 2023 (UTC)
