School Rumble

Hi Juhachi. Since it's 2014 already, the 10th anniversary of the School Rumble anime is approaching, so I was thinking I could nominate it for TFA. I tried back in 2012 to coincide with the manga's 10th anniversary, but it didn't pass because of problems with ISBN templates or something. Could you take a look at the article now and see what needs improvement, or alternatively try to address the issues that were brought up? WP:ANIME hasn't had a TFA in a long time so maybe this could be a good idea? Thanks. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 02:11, 2 January 2014 (UTC)

Re: Nickels

What we should do first is tell this to Wehwalt to see if he knew about the nickel. Then we should plan on taking the topic to review since there's an article for it. As such it has to be part of the topic. Unless discussing this with Wehwalt will cause the page to get merged with another article. We just need to start with letting him know first. GamerPro64 15:39, 7 January 2014 (UTC)

It's a subtopic. It's part of Liberty Head nickel. There have been four major types of nickels since the coin began in 1866. There are a number of specialized nickels, that are part of the four nickel series, that it's possible to write articles about. This is one. I should note that the above article and Nickel (United States coin) contained hatnotes prominently referring people to the 1913 article for more information which were in place for the FAC and FT consideration. They are there now in fact.--Wehwalt (talk) 17:24, 7 January 2014 (UTC)

Regarding Cardcaptor Sakura

I currently have it on peer review in efforts to get it to FA. But, that does not mean in anyway that i'm trying to undercut any significant editors. So i'm asking if you would like my help in getting it to FA. the peer review is here: Wikipedia:Peer review/Cardcaptor Sakura/archive1Lucia Black (talk) 07:41, 28 February 2014 (UTC)

I do not believe I have the time to make significant contributions to improving the article to FA level, so I'll leave it to you and others based on the comments from the peer review. Though any issues that come up that I don't agree with, I'll bring up in the peer review, or the article's talk page.-- 08:30, 28 February 2014 (UTC)

Question about MWAM edit

You made this edit to the MWAM article back in November, restructuring the Oricon sales chart info. Now, correct me if i'm wrong, but doesn't the Oricon sales record list their sales rank first (which could also be their weekly rank, so i'm fine with that change), but then it lists how many weeks they stayed on the charts, right? However, in your edit, you just changed it to Weekly and Sales, making it seem like they were both rankings of some kind, while only the first number should be a ranking and the second should be the number of weeks being ranked. Am I translating the Oricon website correctly? SilverserenC 06:34, 1 March 2014 (UTC)

Ah, I didn't notice that the subheaders said weekly and sales. Right before I edited it, the entire table was blank for those figures, so I just transferred the positions and weeks to the tables above and overlooked changing the subheaders. I went ahead and updated it.-- 07:40, 1 March 2014 (UTC)
Okay, cool. I was just concerned that I was misunderstanding what the Oricon website was saying due to my bad Japanese. Thanks for the prompt response! Now for me to get to work updating the article as a whole. I've left it sitting for too long and it is woefully out of date. SilverserenC 08:02, 1 March 2014 (UTC)

Literal Translations

It seems that mistook the reason for the changes for "Gurren Lagann" and "Heaven's Lost Property". It regards to "Heaven's Lost Property", I changed the translation from "The Sky's Lost Property" to "Lost Property of the Sky" or "Misplaced by Heaven" due to researching the actual terms of the titles. Besides, "The Sky's Lost Property" and "Lost Property of the Sky" are the same thing...

In regards to "Gurren Lagann". The full title ("Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann") is tricky to "translate", also keeping in mind that "Tengen Toppa" is the subtitle, even though it is above the title "Gurren Lagann". The translation that I put "Crimson Face: Heavenly Breakthrough" is correctly translated in correspondence to the subtitle and title, switching them around.

Other examples include the full titles of Berserk and Angelic Layer. I also went through many sources especially for ""Heaven's Lost Property". See for yourself. If you still think my translation change is incorrect, send me a message.— Preceding unsigned comment added by AnimeEditor (talkcontribs) 05:46, 14 March 2014 (UTC)

Interwiki links within an article

About this edit.

Is there a policy/guideline which discourages interwikiing a subject that does not have an article on the English Wikipedia but which does have an article in another Wikipedia? If this is not the case, I disagree with your argument that interwiki links shouldn't be used like that.

The idea is to encourage article creation and to link to topics which do not have a version in English. WhisperToMe (talk) 11:23, 30 March 2014 (UTC)

Koyomimonogatari

Hi,

About the "koyomi" / "calendar" thing...

The book contains twelve stories, one for each month from April of the first year to March of the second year, each of them prefaced by... well, an actual calendar. So, yes, it's clearly a pun on the character's name as well, but I would say "calendar" is the primary meaning, in the context of the title (especially considering the other titles in the series: no character names).

Plus, specifying "calendar" points the pun out to the English reader, so it's win/win. ^^

(incidentally, Koyomi's sisters are puns on the same theme... "Karen" as in "カレンダー", "Tsukihi" as in "月日"...) Erigu (talk) 09:30, 2 April 2014 (UTC)

Creating a page question

Greetings. I have a quick question. I have noticed you have created a lot of pages, so I figured you may be a good person to ask. Electronic Entertainment Expo 2014 is the first article I have created. Before I added the content, it was a Redirect page. My question is will that count as a created page in my statistics? I know from experience that creating a redirect page doesn't count and even after creating this article my created pages number is still zero. I was just wondering who gets the credit of creating an article that was originally a redirect? Thanks for the help. Chambr (talk) 21:23, 22 April 2014 (UTC)

@Chambr: Well yes, technically a page you didn't start from a redlink won't show up as an article you created, but if you for instance wanted to take Electronic Entertainment Expo 2014 to WP:DYK (if it satisfies the criteria), then you'd get the credit for creating it. However, it largely doesn't matter who created an article, and any "credit" you get will be out of the self-satisfaction of being the first to write about something, I guess.-- 23:28, 22 April 2014 (UTC)
That's the way I look at it, as well. I was just making sure there wasn't a problem with my account now showing it. Thanks for the help and happy editing! Chambr (talk) 23:30, 22 April 2014 (UTC)

So, ClariS is disbanding....

This pretty much means we'll never see their faces, right? Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 13:42, 26 May 2014 (UTC)

And since the unit ClariS will be gone soon (whether either of the two will continue in the industry remains to be seen), as you created their article, and for following their career (and adding the necessary information to their article) to the end, here's a barnstar for you.
Moved to User:Juhachi/gifts.

@Narutolovehinata5: Thanks, and well although this is a sad day (ClariS being one of my favorite musical acts, as my constant updates to the article should show), the bottom of the notice saying that Alice was leaving also said that ClariS is preparing its "next stage", so it appears at least for now that Clara will continue singing solo under the ClariS name, so it's not all bad, I guess.-- 21:01, 26 May 2014 (UTC)

So it seems you're now working on fixing the article. Maybe you could be expanded for a possible GA, or at least for another DYK? Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 12:06, 27 May 2014 (UTC)

Thanks! Although I wish there was more information about them available...-- 20:28, 28 May 2014 (UTC)
Hmm, I don't know if you've already used this, it seems to be an interview (there's a mention of Oreimo too, I think). It's really hard to find news on music articles in Japan, imo. There seems to be reviews on "Naisho no Hanashi" and "Connect" Billboard's website. Wish I could help you more since ClariS is one of my favorite artists. Ryoga (talk) 04:07, 29 May 2014 (UTC)
Thanks, but that billboard interview is the same as this one which I already used. As for the reviews, I did see that the ja wiki pages had links to a couple of them, which I'll be getting to eventually.-- 04:16, 29 May 2014 (UTC)
Oh, I didn't realise they're both the same. I think magazines publish reviews too, but it's very hard to get one. Since you know Japanese, the writing process should be easy :) I've been trying so hard to expand "Ashita, Haru ga Kitara". It's an old song, so you can guess how difficult it is to find reviews and related stuff. Ryoga (talk) 04:31, 29 May 2014 (UTC)

At this rate, the article on ClariS could be looking good for a GAN. What do you think? This message on the article's talkpage could prove useful: "Most articles on musical groups include a section on "Critical reception". This article mentions chart rating and gold album, from which one can infer their popularity, but the article would benefit from critical quotes on style, sound, etc." Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 08:38, 29 May 2014 (UTC)

@Narutolovehinata5: Basically, the article would need at least something like Supercell (band)#Musical style and influences to be eligible for GA. I haven't looked into the reviews yet, but once I go over them and perhaps find a few more that discuss their musical style, we might be able to take ClariS to GAN.-- 08:44, 29 May 2014 (UTC)
Is it alright with you if I take ClariS to a peer review in the near future? Even before their "disbandment", I had been thinking of putting ClariS up for a peer review as soon as the peer review for Madoka's article had ended. That way, even users not involved in the Anime or Japan WikiProjects could leave feedback on the article. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 08:48, 29 May 2014 (UTC)
@Narutolovehinata5: Sure; I'd be interested in what others have to say about the article's current state, since I know it already needs a full copyedit.-- 08:51, 29 May 2014 (UTC)
That does sound like a good idea. And Juhachi, would you mind if I suggest a small modification to the barnstar I gave you? Please replace "such" from Thank you for creating [such].. with "such magnificent and detailed". I must've deleted them by mistake :D Ryoga (talk) 12:10, 29 May 2014 (UTC)

June

Hi, I'm pretty new around here. Can I ask why you removed the pop culture references section in the dōjin shop article as WP:TRIVIA? Am confused because the trivia page says it doesn't recommend removing sections that look like trivia, and also that trivia are lists of unorganized info, which this list wasn't. Thanks! Unjapanologist (talk) 13:33, 5 June 2014 (UTC)

@Unjapanologist: The guideline caveats the "removal" provision with "If information is otherwise suitable"; in other words, if the information was suitable for inclusion, it probably could be incorporated elsewhere in the article. I did not think this was the case for the pop culture references, since not only were they unreferenced, but I felt it also was in line with the nutshell summary at the top of the page: "Sections with lists of miscellaneous information (such as "trivia" sections) should be avoided". "In popular culture" references are something I would call "miscellaneous information" because it has no real bearing on the rest of the article as a whole, and is merely tacked on to "make the article more interesting", as is often the rationale for adding such trivia. The guideline also states that "Items that duplicate material elsewhere in the article, have no support from reliable sources, or lack real importance can be removed in most cases." I felt that the pop culture section lacked any real importance, and like I said, was not supported by reliable sources, so I removed it.-- 21:21, 5 June 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for putting up with my laziness all this time

I've noticed that time after time, you've cleaned up after my citation insertions, and I probably should have done this much earlier, but I'd like to say thanks. To be honest, I get very lazy with citations most of the time, so I usually type out references in simple plaintext rather than using {{cite web}} like I should. I should probably try to kick this habit and start citing properly, huh? --benlisquareTCE 00:42, 28 June 2014 (UTC)

@Benlisquare: Typing out all the {{cite web}} parameters can get pretty tedious, but I've been doing it for so long that's become a habit. In terms of the formatting, I believe it just looks better with cite web, though the content you provide isn't bad, and so adding in the parameters isn't all that hard, just time consuming.-- 02:07, 28 June 2014 (UTC)

Girl Friend Beta

I'm worried about calling the character section a "Characters" section, because eventually someone's going to come along and put in the whole entire list with its six billion characters. Wouldn't it be a good idea to somehow imply that the list relates to the anime cast only? --benlisquareTCE 07:28, 20 July 2014 (UTC)

@Benlisquare: That would just be more of a focus on the anime and less on the series as a whole. And besides, it's likely that a large number of those girls will appear in the anime regardless, so either way the list is bound to be rather long, not like that's ever stopped anyone on Wikipedia...ever. I think the article should be set up like other game articles and have the gameplay followed by plot/characters followed by the other stuff.-- 07:32, 20 July 2014 (UTC)

Those Idolmaster articles

I'm starting to think that the person making all those Idolmaster song articles is a troll, or is intentionally making these edits to bait editors out. They've been notified multiple times, however they are still doing the same thing. Even if none of these assumptions hold true, WP:CIR still applies, and I don't think this person demonstrates the competency to properly engage in discussion or understand policy. Pile

As you might have seen, I just made the article Pile (voice actress). Would you be able to see if you can add any additional sources, especially in Japanese? In particular, any reviews of Love Live! that mention her vocal performance, or any articles or interviews that mention her choice of her stage name.

I was hoping to nominate the article for DYK, probably with a hook about her (odd!) stage name, but I was rather disappointed at how little in English I could find… If you could find any more info on the "Asian Dolls Audition" she was selected from that might do too. This is kinda a weird request, so I get it if you're not interested though there's a chance for a DYK here. Thanks, —innotata 01:25, 2 September 2014 (UTC)

Japanese episode names

While I agree with you on the fact that this is "repetitive", I disagree on how you labelled it "unnecessary". Just because the title is in English doesn't mean the Kanji and Romaji fields should be left blank. It adds consistency to the multiple uses of the template, and to anyone unaware of this fact, it would look like some information is missing for that episode alone. Unless this convention is written somewhere outside the template's documentation, could you please explain further what is so unnecessary? Schiffy (Speak to me|What I've done) 23:33, 26 October 2014 (UTC)

@Schiffy: The fact is, those fields are for kanji and romaji, not for simply repeating an English title 3 times, so it is purely unnecessary for the reader to see the same title 3 times. There isn't any kanji or romaji for that episode title, so just leave it blank. In my opinion, this is a matter of common sense. To put it another way, there is no reason why the reader (or anyone) should assume that all the episode titles will be in Japanese. There are plenty of manga which have chapter titles in English (ch. 55, 67, 82, 91 and others), but you don't see us listing the English title 3 times, right? If you want, put a hidden comment like <!--There is no kanji/romaji for this episode.-->-- 00:50, 27 October 2014 (UTC)

Clarification

Hi Juhachi. FYI, in response to this, I apologize, I didn't write that correctly. I knew that the other user made the initial change. I was trying to say something along the lines of "Despite Juhachi's best effort to clean up the other editor's mess, it's still not as good as just using the brief direct quote." I didn't mean it as disparaging towards you, nor did I think you were responsible for the initial change. Thanks. Sergecross73 msg me 22:20, 29 October 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for the clarification.-- 22:46, 29 October 2014 (UTC)

Could you help?

I recently set these two pages up, but could do with some help checking the formatting of the reference and sources. Would you mind lending a hand? Angel Emfrbl (talk) 12:11, 2 November 2014 (UTC)

WP:Good Topics page size

So there's a page size issue with Good Topics. A thread on its talk page has talked about different tactics on handling the it. What do you think should be done? GamerPro64 18:03, 12 November 2014 (UTC)

then please point that out about what I said when I change yaoi to BL. And yes, the words have same meaning and I tried to put the article with english word but I'll leave it out. If you believe the the boys life thing was typo, then please write that out on summary because I myself wasn't really sure if it's not typo

and I noticed you also changed article in Amagi Brilliant Park, Ashe's voice actor and said my source wasn't good enough. Yeah, it wasn't good enough. And now somebody else change Ashe's voice actor back to what I wrote earlier, why don't you change it back and said it's not the real voice actor?

Sorry for having bad English--Kinyamau (talk) 14:22, 19 November 2014 (UTC)

End of Refrain

Can I ask what your source is for the manga Little Busters! End of Refrain ending in January, according to your edit on Dengeki_G's_Comic According to the mangaka's tweet https://twitter.com/ZEN_KAMURO/status/543709684645896193 it seems to only be the end of the "ordinary life" chapter (aka the common route arc in the story), and a new chapter will be starting from next year (the Refrain arc). If I'm misunderstanding it and you have a clear source, I'd appreciate it if you could clarify the matter for me. Thanks. 81.154.45.169 (talk) 11:01, 19 December 2014 (UTC)

[1] says that it's the final chapter. Zen may restart the manga under a different title next year, but that'll be a different manga at that point. Zen's tweet even points out that it was the manga's "final chapter".-- 11:08, 19 December 2014 (UTC)

Charlotte

Sorry about beating you with Charlotte. I kind of wanted to have a bit of fun and avenge you beating me to creating the article on Denkigai (which, by the way, is flopping quite badly for some reason). But I see that you've already expanded it. Thanks for that. Hopefully the anime, once it's out, ends up being good. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 14:49, 22 December 2014 (UTC)

Lord Marksman and Vanadis

Hi. Can you take a look at Talk:Lord Marksman and Vanadis? I'm trying to help write a production section on Lord Marksman and Vanadis, create a light novel article and possibly expand the characters article with creation and development information. Since I just formed the WP:LN project, do you think it's necessary we send out a message to interested project members? Thanks, Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 09:45, 26 December 2014 (UTC)

@Sjones23: It looks like you and the other editors have the right idea as far as I can see. Since this appears to be one of the first expansions of a light novel series after the task force was formed, I suppose sending out a message may be a good bench test to gauge how much interest there is to collaborate on such articles. Though of course, that's only for people actually interested in the series; I don't know anything about it. Also, Happy (Almost) 8th Wikibirthday! -- 11:27, 26 December 2014 (UTC)
