Proposed deletion of Juri Miyabi

The article Juri Miyabi has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:GNG & WP:BIO

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. Making a FA

I am currently trying to make the article D.Gray-man into a FA. Of course due to my poor English I requested a copy-edit from the guild. Hi Juhachi, I noticed this promotion today. There is an unresolved issue regarding the availability of the sources for those articles, and it would be better not to promote any until it's resolved. I don't know what your rules are about undoing promotions or whether you consider it too late. I'll leave that up to you. The discussion is here (also see that talk page), although it has petered out because the nominator has stopped responding. Best wishes, SarahSV (talk) 03:58, 31 May 2017 (UTC)

@SlimVirgin: The way I see it, even if the FAC for CMLL World Lightweight Championship failed, that article will still be a GA, and thus would not effect the criteria of the FTC. The fact is that there were three supports and no opposes in the FTC, and seeing as how it started back in February and the only long discussion it had ended back in March, there didn't appear to be anything in the FTC itself to prevent its promotion. Obviously, if CMLL World Lightweight Championship lost its FAC and then was taken to GAR and lost it's GA certification, then there would be a retention period of three months to give editors a chance to bring it back to at least a GA before the topic was taken to WP:FTRC.-- 05:01, 31 May 2017 (UTC)
Okay, thanks. It's unfortunate timing, because I was literally minutes away from emailing either you or the other coordinator to ask you to wait, when I saw the promotion appear on my watchlist. The sourcing issues affect more than just one article. Anyway, I'll leave it there for now. SarahSV (talk) 05:19, 31 May 2017 (UTC)

Re "Wrong Japanese episode titles"

I just happened to be catching up on some WP:A&M discussion and found this topic of yours in the archives, which seems very similar to a situation I encountered myself - however you got a username whereas all I got was a bunch of dynamic IPs. I don't know if it is still ongoing; I don't edit here that often these days and only encountered the problem as I happened to find those made-up episode titles being copied from here onto ANN, but if it is I thought you might find these additional examples useful. Shiroi Hane (talk) 17:15, 13 July 2017 (UTC)

Hi! So I found a featured article (Planets beyond Neptune) under the scope of Wikipedia:Featured topics/Solar System that isn't included in the featured topic. Also, Planet Nine is a good article that would also fall within the scope of the featured topic. How would I go about getting one or both of these articles added to the featured topic? Thanks, Ks0stm (TCGE)  If you reply here, please ping me by using {{re|Ks0stm}} in your reply.  05:50, 16 July 2017 (UTC)

@Ks0stm: Well, planets beyond Neptune wasn't added the last time it was proposed for addition back in 2008 in Wikipedia:Featured topic candidates/Solar System/addition9, but that was a long time ago, so if you want to propose the inclusion of these articles in the topic, follow the procedure at WP:FTC/NP under "Adding new articles to an existing topic". The addition would be under Wikipedia:Featured topic candidates/Solar System/addition10.-- 06:47, 16 July 2017 (UTC)
Thanks. I don't really understand why they weren't added back then; do you think they would stand a reasonable chance of being added this time? That is, do you think that they still suffer from whatever caused them to not be added back then? Ks0stm (TCGE)  If you reply here, please ping me by using {{re|Ks0stm}} in your reply.  21:29, 16 July 2017 (UTC)
@Ks0stm: There's probably just as much chance they'll pass as fail. The topic is meant to be an overview of the solar system, so even though there are other relevant articles that could be in the topic, the scope is limited to just be a general overview of the solar system. Because trans-Neptunian objects are already largely in the topic with the inclusion of Kuiper belt, Scattered disc, Oort cloud and Dwarf planet, there might not be much of a rationale to include Planets beyond Neptune (or Planet Nine since it hasn't officially been discovered yet).-- 22:26, 16 July 2017 (UTC)

And on your part, I respectfully ask you to please refrain from pronouncing baseless accusations against me before checking the circumstances a bit more closely. Recently I've had my share of that elsewhere already, and I've had enough of that.DanielC46 (talk) 13:40, 23 July 2017 (UTC)

Hey,

Erigu here (can't log in for some reason).

Just wanted to explain why I changed that "snail" back to "maimai". It seems Yoimonogatari will have an episode actually called "Mayoi Snail" (hahaha, thanks Nisio). I thought it might be better to point that out, at least in the Japanese volume list (the English release picked "snail", so that's that). Not a hill I'd die on though, it certainly is a minute detail.

Also, are you still against the idea of using headers (or colors, or anything else) to separate the various "seasons"? The series is getting pretty long, and I think it would be a nice addition and easier to understand than the now rather lengthy and slightly cumbersome explanation over in the general Monogatari series article... 213.86.124.2 (talk) 09:54, 24 July 2017 (UTC)

I think using snail there makes the most sense since "maimai" doesn't mean anything in English, and the original title as given shows the reader that the first instance of "snail" is derived from マイマイ and the second is derived from スネイル. As for the headers or some kind of split between the "seasons", show me an RS that splits them in that fashion, which could then be used the reference those splits on the main article and justify those splits on the novel list.-- 10:37, 24 July 2017 (UTC)
I guess the ad in the final pages of one of the latest novels would do that, but I imagine that's copyrighted material? What would Wikipedia's stance be in this case? 213.86.124.2 (talk) 14:30, 24 July 2017 (UTC)
That would be considered a primary source. A reliable, third-party source would be much more preferable since it could be independently verified.-- 18:38, 24 July 2017 (UTC)

Hello, I think that a full translation in English is useful because the people who watch Madoka Magica can understand the meaning of the title. Answer please. If I don’t have an answer, I can’t know why you removed my modification. And if I don’t know why you removed my modification, I will undo your modification.

P.S. : I am not English, so I am sorry for the spelling mistakes, for the mistakes in the placement of words and/or any other mistake. And I don’t wan’t to look alike wicked. Cordially.

11 Tom (talk) 13:33, 6 August 2017 (UTC)

@11 Tom: Because on top of it being original research (and the fact that that quora cite isn't a reliable source), any parsing of the series' title has no bearing on the series itself, or indeed, any bearing on the article itself. Not to mention that the lead is meant to be a summary of the whole article, so you can't put anything in the lead that isn't already in the rest of the article. Lastly, this is a good article, so any additions to the article need to be weighed against the good article criteria for inclusion.-- 20:01, 6 August 2017 (UTC)
Quora isn’t reliable ? But why ? Because it is a forum ? I will not change the article « Puella Magi Madoka Magica ». 11 Tom (talk) 18:28, 7 August 2017 (UTC)
@11 Tom: Yes, because it it's essentially a forum; see WP:SPS.-- 19:17, 7 August 2017 (UTC)

September

Hello, « Burning-Eyed » and « Burning eyes » are not synonyms ? Please!--11 Tom (talk) 15:47, 15 September 2017 (UTC)

@11 Tom: No, they aren't, because of the placement of the words. "Burning eyes of Shana" would be equivalent to "Shana no Shakugan", because you could switch "Burning eyes of Shana" around to be "Shana's burning eyes" in that example. This is not how the series' title is rendered, Shakugan no Shana, where "Shakugan" is an adjective that describes who Shana is based on her appearance, namely, that her eyes burn red. To put it another way, say it was "One-Eyed Shana" because she wore an eyepatch. You wouldn't switch it around to say "one eye of Shana" or "Shana's one eye" since that wouldn't make any sense.-- 20:29, 15 September 2017 (UTC)

I must say that English is not my native language. But for the meaning, they aren't synonyms? Here, « -eyed » isn’t a verb, isn’t it ? I think that it is a noun. I hope that I don't be mistaken. Can you explain me the meaning of « burning-eyed », please? I will thank you much.

Have a nice day! --11 Tom (talk) 15:05, 19 September 2017 (UTC)

Episode Summaries

Hi. Episode summaries are all essentially original research, based on the events within the episode, so I don't think the criticism in List of Kino's Journey episodes is fair. Summaries can also contain other information such as: guest appearances, and references to other characters/stories/movies/plays where appropriate. eg Law & Order: Criminal Intent (season 1) and many Simpsons episodes. The "Colosseum" episode contains substantial plot and dialogue form the earlier 2-part episode which I think is appropriate to include. Do you have an alternative solution? Ozflashman (talk) 07:14, 20 October 2017 (UTC)

@Ozflashman: I would really question the validity of adding in such content, especially references to other media, which is little more than trivia and would need a reference anyway. And other stuff existing isn't exactly an appropriate argument. The reason why episode summary plots don't need references is because the episode itself is the reference, but that's only in regard to the story itself. In this case, the new Kino anime is being produced by a completely different staff from the first series, and since both are adapting material from the source novels, of course there's going to be overlap. That doesn't mean that it was "remade" persay, but that the same story from the novels was readapted by another studio. I don't believe it's appropriate to put material like that in an episode summary, as it is really skirting original research since you yourself are comparing events from one series with another, despite the fact the only thing the two series have in common is that they're based on the same source material and are otherwise completely different. By that same token, this is the same reason why you don't (or shouldn't) see stuff like "This episode adapted chapter X from the manga." in episode summaries from anime based on manga, since there's nothing to independently verify that other than the original research of someone making that claim. Even {{Episode list}} and {{Japanese episode list}} say "A short 100–200 word plot summary of the episode" should be used for that field; it says nothing about extraneous, out-of-universe information.-- 08:03, 20 October 2017 (UTC)
I take your point, especially that they use the same source material and will leave it as is. If you have an opportunity, check out the earlier episodes, you'll find that as well as plot and dialogue, the graphic and character designs are the same. Ozflashman (talk)
@Ozflashman: Similar, but not the same. As I said, the staff from both series are different; character design was done by 2 people before (Shigeyuki Suga for the 2003 series and first film, and Yoshiaki Itou for the second film) whereas it's done by Ryoko Amisaki for the 2017 series, although they're all based on Kouhaku Kuroboshi's designs.-- 19:38, 20 October 2017 (UTC)

New Page Reviewing

Hello, Juhachi.

As one of Wikipedia's most experienced Wikipedia editors,
Would you please consider becoming a New Page Reviewer? Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time but it requires a good understanding of Wikipedia policies and guidelines; currently Wikipedia needs experienced users at this task. (After gaining the flag, patrolling is not mandatory. One can do it at their convenience). But kindly read the tutorial before making your decision. Thanks. — Insertcleverphrasehere (or here) 17:56, 3 December 2017 (UTC)

New Page Reviewer granted

Hello Juhachi. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers" user group, allowing you to review new pages and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or in some cases, tag them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is a vital function for policing the quality of the encylopedia, if you have not already done so, you must read the new tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the various deletion criteria. If you need more help or wish to discuss the process, please join or start a thread at page reviewer talk.

  • URGENT: Please consider helping get the huge backlog down to a manageable number of pages as soon as possible.
  • Be nice to new users - they are often not aware of doing anything wrong.
  • You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted - be formal and polite in your approach to them too, even if they are not.
  • Don't review a page if you are not sure what to do. Just leave it for another reviewer.
  • Remember that quality is quintessential to good patrolling. Take your time to patrol each article, there is no rush. Use the message feature and offer basic advice.

The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In case of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, the right can be revoked at any time by an administrator. Alex Shih (talk) 03:09, 4 December 2017 (UTC)

New Page Reviewer Newsletter

Hello Juhachi, thank you for your efforts reviewing new pages!

Backlog update:

  • The new page backlog is currently at 12713 pages. Please consider reviewing even just a few pages each day! If everyone helps out, it will really put a dent in the backlog.
  • Currently the backlog stretches back to March and some pages in the backlog have passed the 90 day Google index point. Please consider reviewing some of them!

Outreach and Invitations:

  • If you know other editors with a good understanding of Wikipedia policy, invite them to join NPP by dropping the invitation template on their talk page with: {{subst:NPR invite}}. Adding more qualified reviewers will help with keeping the backlog manageable.

New Year New Page Review Drive

  • A backlog drive is planned for the start of the year, beginning on January 1st and running until the end of the month. Unique prizes will be given in tiers for both the total number of reviews made, as well as the longest 'streak' maintained.
  • Note: quality reviewing is extremely important, please do not sacrifice quality for quantity.

General project update:

  • ACTRIAL has resulted in a significant increase in the quality of new submissions, with noticeably fewer CSD, PROD, and BLPPROD candidates in the new page feed. However, the majority of the backlog still dates back to before ACTRIAL started, so consider reviewing articles from the middle or back of the backlog.
  • The NPP Browser can help you quickly find articles with topics that you prefer to review from within the backlog.
  • To keep up with the latest conversation on New Pages Patrol or to ask questions, you can go to Wikipedia talk:New pages patrol/Reviewers and add it to your watchlist.

If you wish to opt-out of future mailings, go here. TonyBallioni (talk) 20:27, 12 December 2017 (UTC)

Articles for Creation Reviewing

Hello, Juhachi.
AfC submissions

Purge to update

I recently sent you an invitation to join NPP, but you also might be the right candidate for another related project, AfC, which is also extremely backlogged.
Would you please consider becoming an Articles for Creation reviewer? Articles for Creation reviewers help new users learn the ropes of creating their first articles, and identify whether topics are suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia. Reviewing drafts doesn't take much time but it requires a good understanding of Wikipedia inclusion policies and guidelines; currently Wikipedia needs experienced users at this task. (After requesting to be added to the project, reviewing is not mandatory. One can do it at their convenience). But kindly read the reviewing instructions before making your decision. Thanks. — Insertcleverphrasehere (or here) 02:43, 29 December 2017 (UTC)
